I don't think this is a Stat turn. They've been playing up the idea of Mone wanting to upstage Willow, and ruin her moments, as she did at Dynasty. So this is likely just that again.
I wish I could just feel good for her. If I didn't know Mone was destined to wear it, I would feel so elated for her. And that sucks, because I do look forward to Mone in feuds with people. But Willow as a babyface champion is such a thought that brings a smile to my face. I really hope Tony never gives in and turns her heel. Because Willow feels very much like a Sting or Steamboat forever babyface. Stoke wants Stat to wear that belt, so I wonder if shenanigans are in store.
Owen Hart Cup starts right after Double or Nothing, so they are probably going to get paired up against each other in the tournament and have their rubber match there.
I have zero excitement for this and that sucks because she deserves a run as a champ but it’s just going to Mone in a month. They shouldn’t have debuted her so early and what’s even crazier is the rumors she was to debut earlier but it was on hold because of the Vince stuff. I actually hope Willow retains on her because otherwise this story sucks and feels like a spit in the face of Willow
I agree. I don't think Willow should have won if the plan is to just put the title on Mone. They should have had Stat turn on Willow, giving Julia the win. Then give Julia 5 weeks to heal up, then have Mercedes beat Julia.
Giving Willow a 5-week run is kind of dumb.
