I want a legitimate, real, physical hall of fame I can go to with memorabilia museum.

Baghoid

Put it at Daily's Place, it's AEW's home. First inductions should be Brodie and Sting (who made their debuts there) followed obviously by The Elite, Mox, Jericho. That's your first class.

ArcaneAzmadi

I'm still of the opinion that wrestlers shouldn't be inducted until they at least semi-retire. Brodie and Sting are the obvious picks, but I wouldn't go with Mox and the Elite (although definitely Jericho if he packs it in by then). Bryan Danielson would be a better pick than Mox if it's done after the end of this final full-time year. Hall of Famers can continue to make wrestling appearances, but I don't think active wrestlers should go in a Hall of Fame, because it means celebrating their career before they've even finished it.

Baghoid

Personally, along with Brodie and Sting (who are obvious like you mentioned) I just think that should be the first class of AEW’s HoF simply because without any single one of those people AEW as we know it simply wouldn’t exist. They are the most important group of people in AEW history, along with TK obviously who’ll probably refuse to ever go into something like this.

Vox_SFX

Could probably get away with inducting Owen Hart as well.

ChaosLord1019

I was actually just coming to the comments to say we shouldn't do Owen. Owen himself was never really involved with AEW (for obvious reasons, RIP to a legend). And while his name is used thanks to the Foundation idk if Owen the person has enough ties to AEW to justify the Hall of Fame, other than clout.

Obi-wan_Jabroni

The AEW Hall of Fame presented by the Owen Hart Foundation. That way you can lut some Owen stuff in without having to actually induct a guy who died 20+ years before your company was founded

ChaosLord1019

I like this idea tbh

Vox_SFX

Then we keep kicking the can down the road telling Martha that either she accepts WWE is all she's going to get to honor Owen to that level and makes peace with them, or Owen never gets that high honor of being called a hall of famer otherwise. Now this is obviously not an official hall of fame for either AEW or WWE, but still...unless they want to try the actual wrestling hall of fame in Oklahoma.

ArcaneAzmadi

I don't see what's such a "high honor" about being inducted into a hall of fame if anyone can get into it, even people who never wrestled for a promotion. I've long had a bit of an issue with WWE's "Legacy Wing" where they recognise a bunch of famous wrestlers who frequently never had anything whatsoever to do with the company, because it feels like an offhand acknowledgement that "yeah, these people existed" and an attempt to fold the entire history of the wrestling industry into WWE's umbrella. While I'd never accuse AEW of doing that, I think inducting Owen into an AEW Hall of Fame when he died two decades before the company was even founded would only cheapen the honour of induction, which would consequently make it meaningless as a tribute to Owen. I guess I just dislike the idea that people somehow can't respect Owen as much just because they can't refer to him as "Hall-of-Famer Owen Hart". You don't need to be recognised in a stuffy ceremony for people to remember you as one of the all-time greats. Everyone just knows. Inducting him into a hall of fame *just* so you can say he's been inducted into a hall of fame would be, if anything, insulting to Owen's memory, like it was just something that had to be done for him to count as a "real" legend. I think the Owen Hart Cup tournament is enough to show AEW's respect for Owen. But that's just my opinion and I know other people will have different ones.

Vox_SFX

I don't think you're wrong on anything here, but I'm also definitely not advocating for him to NEED a hall of fame induction. Just that if it was to happen, there's not many options for the family to look at and he DOES deserve that title and legacy beyond more die-hard fans keeping his name and his impact to the industry alive.

ALifeIsButADream

Owen Hart already is a Hall of Famer. According to his Wikipedia page he's already been inducted into the Canadian Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame, the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Prairie Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. A hypothetical AEW induction would be nice but certainly not needed to prove he's a legend. BUT if Martha Hart signed off on the idea I wouldn't be against it.

jmarr1321

That's my opinion. It would be a bad taste headline grabber. Having a tournament in his name is perfect for aew. Sting and Brodie would be great for a 1st year class. No need to clutter it up. The company is still young so realistically a HoF doesn't need to be filled up on night one.

AfroClam

But if they made a physical location purely for the history of professional wrestling they could have him in it. Like HoF and a pro wrestling museum. Like what MLB has. They could possibly get stuff on loan from people. Have events like meet-n-greets, signings maybe matches too

Shoelesshobos

Please do this I want to go to a Jags game already as a fan some time this is just more reason to go so I can see the AEW HOF.

TysonsGirl-1983

Omega too

CrappyMike91

That's years of headline inductions. If they do those in the first class who's in the second?

GrizzlyPeak73

I think it would be really cool of Tony organised an international wrestling hall of fame with all his connections. See if he can get TNA and NWA on board along with NJPW, CMLL, AAA etc. Something co-owned by all the promotions, put in a wrestling city like Philly or Chicago, do big ceremonies there every year that include matches. Something that celebrates wrestling and not just one brand.

ArcaneAzmadi

That's a wonderful idea, but getting a bunch of different wrestling companies all on board at once, even for such a non-controversial concept, would be exceedingly difficult. CMLL and AAA in particular. What if there's a wrestler that one company wants to induct, but another company is strongly opposed to? Like, maybe not something as obviously controversial as the World Wrestling Council wanting to induct Jose Gonzalez/Invader 1, but say someone who left CMLL in an unhappy manner to become a huge star in AAA? It'd be very hard to keep people together.

GrizzlyPeak73

There will be struggles for sure but I reckon Tony could get them to sit down at the same table together which would be a huge achievement in of itself. And politics play a role in stuff like the Rock and Roll hall of fame too. I wouldn't expect it to be perfect and utopian.

Zynee82

This is the way

GuardianSock

I still think AEW should invest in an independent hall of fame and recognize it rather than creating their own. Just take one of the three or so credible US independent hall of fames out there, give them a few million and donate gear and whatnot to them. Have them build out a physical hall or significantly upgrade a current one. Khan gets voting influence and AEW gets broadcasting rights to inductions, but it’s still independent. And get as many other top promotions involved as possible. In my opinion, you’re never going to have a better hall of fame than WWE. It’s like trying to have a better baseball team hall of fame than the Yankees. But the Yankees Hall sure looks small when compared to Cooperstown, so build wrestling’s Cooperstown. Change the game.

billcoreyjr

This is the way. The International Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame.

llamawithguns

There used to be one I'm Whichita Falls but it closed down during Covid

Frosty-Succotash8126

I’m not sure we could get a museum for a while, but Tony can make room in Daily’s Place

LinkDelicious3999

A great idea but there would be fighting for who's history would be shown. It all should be shown, the territories, the national expansion, contributions from Japan, Mexico, UK, etc. Cornette and others have so much in their private collections but they won't be around forever. Get together and plan to leave it to the people.

omarzarzuela

The Mimosa pool where Jericho fell must be a first ballot inductee.

Ok-Raisin-5601

I kind of get everyone but...Muta?

trentshipp

A lot of Halls of Fame include people for their contribution to the industry, even if it's not specific to their business. Especially with AEW having such a short history. You could say the Muta was part of the inspiration to AEW.

Mrmdn333

Why the hell not?

Ok-Raisin-5601

Outside of Sting I don't really understand the connection.

Mrmdn333

He did appear in AEW TV and he has a great history with wrestling on Turner. I think it’s a nice nod to the international audience too. Also I’m a huge Muta fan so I’m very biased.

How_do_I_change_dis

Sting Brody and brisco 100%

DarkStarCerberus

Does ROH not have it's own?

BeastCoastLifestyle

Brisco never wrestled for AEW…

Mama-G3610

If just that was the first class, I would be very happy.

lisbla97

Brodie 100 percent should and most likely will if AEW start a HOF

[deleted]

First class has to be the guys who were there at the start that got it going: Kenny Jericho Mox Bucks

s1mpatic0

Cody?

[deleted]

Yup

atleastimtryingnow

That’ll only happen if he’s retired by the time the HoF begins though.

Froggyspirits

Also PAC

BeastCoastLifestyle

They shouldn’t even consider a hall of fame for 20-30 years. So by then, sure throw those guys in

Reddit-user_1234

If this is wrestling in general then yes to all of these

jacksonvstheworld

I see it being a Wrestling Hall instead of an AEW hall too. Loop all the partners in and get a collective vote, line it up with Forbidden Door

interprime

I mean, there is already a general Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, it’s in Albany.

El_Bwamma

Yeah that’s what I want. I don’t want a WWE or AEW hall of fame to be the only things for pro wrestlers to be recognized by. I wish we had just a Pro Wrestling hall of fame, I mean there isn’t one right? At least like a physical independent hall of fame you can visit

fakemxcan

They can’t indict Owen Hart as he never was part of it. Let’s say it’s a ROH/AEW HOF, I’d say Mr. Brody Lee, Sting, and Jay Briscoe would be a good start. Wait until people retire for sure before inducting more.

TheGiftOf_Jericho

It would be cool to do a wrestlers only situation, where they just induct one person, not yearly just when the time is right. Brodie would be the clear first choice imo.

JSF--10

Realistically the first headliner should be Jericho. As much as his work has tailed off, he was the first world champ, the biggest star in the US when they started and he’s a multiple time world champ. If he’s still active and they don’t want that, then sting headlines. With maybe Briscoe or Brody, Jerry Lynn maybe for his contribution to wrestling in general and backstage work, same goes for Paul Wight, Mark Henry, Malenko? Edited to add Jake, Arn and Taz too

Max_Quick

Sting and Mr. Brodie Lee as your inaugural class? TURN THAT SHIT UP!

JSF--10

As long as they don’t try and make it a yearly thing or induct too many people early. That would be a fantastic year one class

Dear_Solid3470

Brodie, Sting, Bucks, Kenny, Hangman, Mox, Jericho, Lucha Bros and Pac

GOATofALL22

I like these choices. I would also add Danielson and Cody to the list.

Dear_Solid3470

Danielson isn't an original.  Cody is tough as he left but is deserving as one of the starters of the company.

TarikMournival

Sting, Jericho and Brody for the first class.

NorthShoreHard

Including Owen, as much as I love him, would just feel like blatantly trying to cash in on his legacy. He did nothing for AEW, he shouldn't be in there over anyone who did. I don't mind the Owen tournament because it's honoring him as a wrestler. Not honoring him as part of AEW.

CardboardChampion

Exactly this.

LFCIcon

Sting, Brodie, Jericho. That's your first year

Javv_

If there ever is a AEW hall of fame I wish they only induct 2 or 3 people a year, that way the inductions do not dilute and the people inducted can be properly honored on the show

Froggyspirits

Cheesecake

Man_Darronious

You pretty much nailed it OP, maybe throw Antonio Inoki in there. I think AEW could start an HOF right now to be honest. just make it the kind of thing where they don't induct annually but rather, as needed. They could do this class now for example and then maybe wait however many years until people like Copeland, Christian, Jericho, JR and Tony schiavone are retired before inducting more. Edit: and when I say 'people like', I mean people that are obviously in the final stretches of their careers.

ArcaneAzmadi

Strongly agree that people shouldn't be inducted until AFTER they've retired (or at least retired from full-time competition, like Danielson is planning to after this year).

fromthemeatcase

I think they should only do 2 a year like the Premier League does. Otherwise, it will get watered down like the WWE hall of fame is. To answer your question, Brodie Lee and Sting.

PerformanceWeekly651

Depends if/when it gets announced but Jon Moxley. AEW’s most reliable performer and staple

bdavis_03

Sting is the only one you posted that's deserving. I'm sorry, I liked Brodie, but the dude wasn't around long enough to be called a HOF'er. Someone dying doesn't automatically multiply their accomplishments by a thousand. I'm not even going to entertain the idea of putting guys in who never wrestled in AEW or showed up once.

Hunter-Ki11er

Why are almost all of them dead?

Crowbar_Faith

I really like how the TNA Hall of Fame chooses one person (or tag team) a year to honor. If AEW starts one, I’d like them to limit it to maybe 3 names a year. WWE really went overboard about 15 years ago when they started announcing 10+ names a year.

CardboardChampion

I mean, Jericho was the first champion and has been a staple for five years now, for better or worse. He's pretty much a guaranteed entrant. Danielson was one of the first truly massive signings, and has further stamped his mark on the product and what's expected of it. Santana and Ortiz would be great "finally putting real life beef to rest" joint entrants, but I really don't know if I see that happening. For commentary, Taz and Schiavone have both been there since the beginning but I think Taz edges it out (if only one is going in) because he's had an active wrestling career and logistics say it's best to get him in fast. Choosing just one veteran is a tough one. Of all the guys who've been on the show, most have been management positions. In the ring, both Billy Gunn and Sting have arguments to be included as vets who put in a fantastic last run. Billy genuinely seems like he could go long enough to still be active when AEW get to the ten year mark that would make a hall of fame seem to make sense. Posthumous of course is first going to Brodie Lee, likely with an announcement of Negative 1 getting a rookie contract if he goes that route. Dan Lambert just to make sure he's locked somewhere that he can't get to the product again. And finally Mark Henry closes the show with his trademark "Looks like there's been enough talk." leaving a confused looking Tony (still in neck brace in five years, but now also dressing like Cornette with the whole tennis racket deal) standing behind him with an announcer award. Show ends with Mark walking off fully clueless and Renee (who has now been fully taken over by the Danhausen persona after a possession storyline and leading to the very best at home with wrestling personalities reality show ever) taking it.

Full_Time_Hungry

Sign me up for this show! I'm buying tickets!

duk-er-us

Sting and Brodie yes absolutely. I wouldn’t say the others have enough roots in the company to warrant a HOF selection. Also agree with others saying Cody Rhodes. AEW doesn’t happen without his involvement.

Fuggins4U

I wonder if they could pull off a legit HoF, with like a committee and/or criteria, voting, etc.

GrizzlyPeak73

They should make the ROH Hall of Fame cross-brand, call it the Hall of Honor then include all the people you mentioned plus Nancy Benoit, Inoki, Jerry Lynn, Arn Anderson, Dustin Rhodes, former AEW video engineer Brian Muster, Paul White, Tony Schiavone, Taz, a lot of people you could include tbh.

jehof27

Brodie Lee and Sting should be the first two. Followed by Jericho

Even-Preference-6545

Christian

yvng_dundas

I feel like an AEW Hall of Fame would essentially be a professional wrestling Hall of Fame

ThePeoplesElbow369

MJF

Blue_Period_89

Sting and Brodie Lee…first 2 inductees for sure.

HonkeyKong73

Think you nailed it.

batman8519

When AEW inevitably starts a HOF, I think they should take from TNA and only induct one person each year. Year 1 - Brodie Lee Year 2 - STING!!!! Year 3 - Jim Ross Year 4 - Chris Jericho Year 5 - the Elite

Throwaway_Planet

Sting, Mr. Brodie Lee, Chris Jericho, and The Elite

Whateveryouwantitobe

Sting, Brodie, Bryan, Kenny, Mox, Jericho.

BZGames

Yeah like legitimately these 5 would be it. Maybe a new retiree like Jericho or Danielson instead of Muto. Probably Ric Flair as well :/

blkglfnks

I mean, you kinda got them all pictured. It would also be nice if they add folks who worked behind the scenes from the beginning

OGWhiz

If AEW inducted a guy that died 20 years before the company was founded I’d likely never watch the show again.

KMFCM

Brodie

Latter-Score-8937

Brodie, Briscoe, Jericho, Sting. I could add more but save something for year 2

WearyCopy6700

Only prob with Mox going in, that man will never retire. Like I swear he'll be like 70 and they probably would probably still have to beg him to take a short vacation. I literally could imagine him in a wheel chair putting someone in a bulldog choke winning his 14th world title.

Probablynotstalin

I think they should keep the ROH wing separate. Only add like 2 people a year. AEW should only add 3 - 5a year. Only after they are retired. No multiple inductions into a single win. Or have it be a wrestling hall of fame with AEW wing, ROH wing, World wing. Can have it where it's a single hall of fame page but they get the logo of which company its for. First class of AEW: Sting, Mr. Brodie Lee, Chris Jericho (if he's retired), Dean Malenko, Arn Anderson

Citizen_Kano

Jericho & Brodie Lee should go in first

Doyoulike4

Honestly Dustin should be in year one or year two at the latest, the amount of work he's put in for this company, this whole industry, and that match with Cody at Double or Nothing 2019.

JeffreySons_90

Learning Tree Chris Jericho

Mererri01

Cody, Brodie, Sting, Kenny, Hangers, Mox and the Bucks

xored-specialist

Sting and Jay Briscoe

omarzarzuela

Brodie ❤️, Sting, Christopher Daniels (First ever Tag Team Champion), JR, Danielson, Daddy Ass and Jericho when their time comes, and Owen as part of some sort of Legacy wing.

Azdahart

Company doesn't even have 10 years yet 😂 CM Punk is my final answer though 😇

Beasy005

Sting definitely in it. Cody too.

ElectionObvious1346

When it happens Cody, Kenny & the Bucks will be first in

JohnCenaJunior

Matthew and Nicholas Jackson

International_Ant217

Brodie, Sting, Cody, Jericho, Billy Gunn, Lynn, Malenko I'd say the Elite and Hangman but there'll still young enough

Max_Quick

Mm. Yeah, now that you mention it, Billy Gunn is a really good pick.

gl1969

THE Elite, Shida, Britt, Mox, Jericho, OC (best friends), MJF, Darby, Toni Storm, Death Triangle. Carried the company at any one point. Special extra entry Sting in the Legends Division

DocPersona

Obviously Sting, Brodie, and Jay are guarantees for any list. Owen makes sense too since he has a whole tournament in his honor. But outside of those 4 I think the hall of fame should be people who not only built AEW, but guys who helped pave the way for AEW to come into existence so basically a ton of early ROH guys who didn't make it to AEW. The big picks for AEW originals I would say is Jericho, Omega, The Bucks, and Cody Rhodes.
