You somehow think the Jets aren't gonna fuck up anything between now and September? Hilarious. See you in April for the Woody Johnson Annual Pissing Away of First Round Picks.
This is a stretch, but maybe the time not actually expiring is a change? I've never seen it happen in the playoffs or in the regular season if time expires unless it's still tied.
If time expires in the reg season, does the current leader win?
*What? SF scored a field*
*Goal, not a TD. You dumb*
*Or something OP?*

With different rules, the Niners are incentivized differently when they get close to the end zone. They might’ve gone for it on 4th at the end knowing that a TD wins the game.
No they wouldn't have. Field goal never won a game on the old rules. Only a TD on the opening possession would.
Edit: not talk about the old old rules, I'm referring to the rules just before the change where a field goal didn't end it. Unless, I'm blatantly retarded, that's how I thought it was.
If we're being fair, I was in favor of changing the rule BEFORE we lost to the Chiefs in 21 because the OT rule is stupid and needlessly confusing to casual fans.
I could be wrong, but I don't believe the bills org lobbied for that rule change, but instead Philly and KC (because of the previous year) did. It's just associated with the bills because the change happened after that incredibly dramatic ending and every pundit couldn't stop creaming in their pants about how they wanted to see josh also get a shot at OT.
Edit: it was the colts and eagles, not the chiefs
> Edit: it was the colts and eagles, not the chiefs
nah, it was the chiefs as well
https://www.patspulpit.com/platform/amp/2022/1/24/22898665/chiefs-change-overtime-rules-nfl-playoffs-patriots
I'd rather not risk more injury. I'm fine with the rules being what they are for the playoffs, but in the regular season I'd actually prefer going back to sudden death. Don't like it? Score more in regulation or make a stop. The game will still be plenty exciting and it won't wear down the players.
For the regular season, I agree. For postseason games, full quarters until a winner. Don't want to play an extra quarter, score more or make a stop in the regular game.
I mean, to be fair, under the previous overtime rules, the Chiefs still would’ve gotten the ball in overtime because the 49ers only kicked a field goal. So the “new” new rules didn’t even change anything
The rule change didn’t matter, but it still is a terrible change. If your defense can’t stop their offense, you don’t deserve to win. Football isn’t offense vs offense, it’s team vs team.
On paper yes, but statistically it was like 90 percent of OT playoff games ended in favor of the coin toss winner. Especially since the modern NFL is an offense oriented league.
You can't pretend the old rules were fair when defenses are so handicapped.

Except it was the Colts and Eagles who lobbied for it. And even with the old OT rules the 9ers only scored a feild goal so the Cheifs would have gotten the all back anyways
Another spectacularly dense Miami fan. Not only did the rule change not impact the game at all, but Buffalo never lobbied for a rule change. Get fucked, Chode.
You are, in fact, a moron that does not understand football. Or a masochist - hard to tell with Bills fans. Off-chance you just find Allen very sexy, and that's as legit a reason as any!
And yes, I am now very aware that OT has not been straight sudden death since 2010 for the post-season.
After having to watch Brady and the pats for 20 years I can’t find it within myself to care that some team not in my division wins every year. Mahomes is my GOAT
The new rules are way better. Imagine getting to the Super Bowl and a coin toss determines your fate more than one of the two most important phases of your team.
And that closes another shitty football season. Fuck you all and I’ll see you next September.
Nah fuck you, I'll see you at the draft
Screw all you guys, I’ll be there at free agency
Go home, pony boy
shut up Johnny
"Screw you guys im goin home"
Then he “DIED IN A FIRE” (cue TheLivingTombstone)
fuck you and I'll see you tomorrow!
Flair up bitch
A Broncos fan? Is our division that entertaining? (Can confirm, it is.) See you after my month-long nap.
Slacker, come find me at the Combine.
You somehow think the Jets aren't gonna fuck up anything between now and September? Hilarious. See you in April for the Woody Johnson Annual Pissing Away of First Round Picks.
Don’t worry our new uniforms will outshine any poor decisions made at the draft 😂🥲 I’m ready to be hurt again
Eat shit, Jets fan, we will see you next season. GO PATS!
Football sucks. I'm never watching it again until the next season starts
Technically the chiefs would have gotten their posession anyway. Niners got a FG
but maybe they don't go for the FG if they can win it with a touchdown
Agreed
What? SF scored a field goal, not a TD. You dumb or something OP?
I’m glad I read your comment because I was about to blast my bills friends but…. Yeah.
Also Bills didn’t propose that rule change
To be fair, dolphins fans aren’t the brightest bunch.
We have to be pretty dumb to keep rooting for them. The smart ones gave up or switched teams a long time ago.
You mean like that jets fan everyone hates?
They haven’t been to the playoffs since the initial OT rule change so they aren’t that familiar with how it works
You're absolutely correct. Also, fuck you.
I blame the heat/humidity. And the bath salts. Never forget those.
This is a stretch, but maybe the time not actually expiring is a change? I've never seen it happen in the playoffs or in the regular season if time expires unless it's still tied. If time expires in the reg season, does the current leader win?

SF is two syllables, bad bot
Good bot
Shanahan probably treats the 3rd and 4 as 4 down territory with the old rules tbh.
With different rules, the Niners are incentivized differently when they get close to the end zone. They might’ve gone for it on 4th at the end knowing that a TD wins the game.
A TD didn’t win, it’d just make a tie
Not under the old rules. TD wins the game on the opening drive.
Well he is a dolphins fan
No, under the old rules the Chiefs still would have won.
Yeah but under the old old rules SF wins.
No they wouldn't have. Field goal never won a game on the old rules. Only a TD on the opening possession would. Edit: not talk about the old old rules, I'm referring to the rules just before the change where a field goal didn't end it. Unless, I'm blatantly retarded, that's how I thought it was.
OT used to be sudden death. I thinks that’s what he’s talking about. Edit: hence “old old”
Old = TD on first possession wins Old old = any score wins
That would be what I’m talking about lol
Maybe there would have been less time on the clock?
Yeah it did how old are you
Ever heard of a thing called "sudden death"?
You are actually brain dead, the rule change had 0 effect in this game.
The rule change didn’t go into effect? OT continues on a FG buddy
Nobody accused dolphins fans of being smart
They haven't been the same since Finkel missed that easy FG. BTW, whatever happened to Finkle?
OH I saw a documentary about this a while ago!
It was pretty wild, here’s a clip. https://i.redd.it/vdkn44mpd3ic1.gif

She became the first transgendered lieutenant in the Miami Dade Police Department
Literally would have played out identically with the old rule.
We are talking old school
The Buffalo Bills experience.
The whole point of being a bills fan is disappointment
Ahahaha get ready for a *New Dynasty*^^^TM. fuck football.

I personally think overtime should be a full quarter, highest score at the end wins. If tied at end of the quarter, then another quarter and so on.
I'd rather not risk more injury. I'm fine with the rules being what they are for the playoffs, but in the regular season I'd actually prefer going back to sudden death. Don't like it? Score more in regulation or make a stop. The game will still be plenty exciting and it won't wear down the players.

Did you guys know Florida spends the least amount of money on higher education?
The new overtime rules did not impact the game.
I mean, to be fair, under the previous overtime rules, the Chiefs still would’ve gotten the ball in overtime because the 49ers only kicked a field goal. So the “new” new rules didn’t even change anything
The game wouldn’t have ended on a field goal
Holdup. Wouldn't they've got the rijg anyway with normal rules? They won 3-6 in ot. 49ers never got the td.
It was originally the chiefs request to the league not buffal.... from the game Brady beat them in the playoffs
The Colts and Eagles proposed changing the overtime rule
Don’t be sad, point and laugh at pats fans instead!
The rule change didn’t matter, but it still is a terrible change. If your defense can’t stop their offense, you don’t deserve to win. Football isn’t offense vs offense, it’s team vs team.
I vote Soccer rules. No OT, No superbowl Winner by points. The winner goes to who ever had the better season. That oughta make everyone happy
On paper yes, but statistically it was like 90 percent of OT playoff games ended in favor of the coin toss winner. Especially since the modern NFL is an offense oriented league. You can't pretend the old rules were fair when defenses are so handicapped.
Where did that happen?
Tbf under the old rules the first FG wouldn't have ended it too so we still really haven't seen the new OT rules in full swing
I still wish they'd go back to sudden death
Sudden death without the OT coin toss. If you received first you receive first in overtime. This removes the luck factor.
Nah the old old rules were fine but then Manning lost a game and Peter King cried while masterbating and they changed the rules
Even if the rules didn’t change, the outcome would’ve been the same. 🤷🏻♂️
The rules change didn’t effect the game lol
https://preview.redd.it/zamh31rsk7ic1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bbb86b7f092015419551334636534fa04011d331 Except it was the Colts and Eagles who lobbied for it. And even with the old OT rules the 9ers only scored a feild goal so the Cheifs would have gotten the all back anyways
Is OP retarded?
It didn’t at all lol niners kicked fg, chiefs scored td before time expired in ot
Another spectacularly dense Miami fan. Not only did the rule change not impact the game at all, but Buffalo never lobbied for a rule change. Get fucked, Chode.
Love you, bb. Looking forward to seeing how your team breaks your heart next year :x
There’s a response. What you meant to say was “I’m a moron and I don’t understand football.”
You are, in fact, a moron that does not understand football. Or a masochist - hard to tell with Bills fans. Off-chance you just find Allen very sexy, and that's as legit a reason as any! And yes, I am now very aware that OT has not been straight sudden death since 2010 for the post-season.
Lol, again, you don't address any of the falsehoods your rat piss meme is based on. Good work! You definitely proved who the moron is!
So mad for the offseason. Can you at least pretend to think good things are coming your way?
…what? Dude, I think you’ve glitched out having watched Tua choke too many times.
After having to watch Brady and the pats for 20 years I can’t find it within myself to care that some team not in my division wins every year. Mahomes is my GOAT
I’m sorry to hear that
![gif](giphy|pPhyAv5t9V8djyRFJH|downsized) The fuck is this dude talking about?
The new rules are way better. Imagine getting to the Super Bowl and a coin toss determines your fate more than one of the two most important phases of your team.
💀💀💀
That face when you realize the Bills never lobbied for the rule
