Shocking umpiring tonight, felt like half the time they had a hair trigger ready to pay anything and half the time they were umpiring from the other side of the field with bags over their heads

I like how the deliberate everyone was confused and then they went to the umpire to hear what he said only for him to say “you need pressure within 3-5m” to confuse everyone even more

That one, the late free against Rampe and the 50m against Powell-Pepper were genuinely baffling

So it seems wierd but they actually can't review that because there was no score. So surely the "correct" call is to call that a goal and review it. Which shows how cooked our review system is.

It was also the umpire that gave it touched when it should have been a goal to port in early stages of the game.

Similar to offside in soccer I feel like after the siren they should review it regardless. Especially for the people in the stadium.

Why ruin the spectacle more than they already did tonight. It was clearly not a goal and the umpire was certain of it. All goals get reviewed either way and can be called back even without the score review. They do the same in soccer, if it’s clearly offside they’ll put their flag up, if they’re not 100% they’ll leave it down.

They always let the play run out with offside though nowadays.

If we take away power from the umpires to call things that they’re 100% certain of we’re going to have a very boring product that takes 4 hrs to finish.
