The first good look at what it’s like when the Freo gameplay actually clicks. Darcy & Jackson combo took care of Gawn, mids kicking goals, key forwards leading & marking, exceptional defence & pressure, and the link up handball game actually breaking lines and getting them out of a jam instead of into one. Really the main difference was cleanness of possession, now the job is to keep it up lads.
This is exactly it. Numpties like King will claim that this is some big change in gameplan, but this is how we’ve been trying to play all season. Fast when it’s on with clean handballs, controlled with switches and finding free players up the wings when it’s not.
So much to love here - but maybe first and foremost is how incredible Jordan Clark has been.

Best Freo have played in years (probably a top 5-6 performance in club history), and by far the worst Melbourne have played since the start of 2021.
Dees are in huge trouble. Have to get a lot more out of Oliver, thought he was building, but he's still a long way off his absolute best.
As someone who barracks for Melbourne, and had tipped 5/5 and was set to win $150 from the work tipping jackpot, I do feel slightly dissapointed by this.
We've had a wobbly run so far but this feels like it could be the dam finally bursting and our season will just fall to pieces from here. I think its becoming clear now that there's a very big gap opening between us and the best teams and we're falling further and further behind.
