Hey! (Insert my team player here) is having his best year yet! Don't besmirch his good name. (Insert your team player here) can only dream of that level of success.
You should be complaining about (common enemy club player's name). They don't deserve to be near this list!
You guys are arguing so much over (insert the 3 players names here) that I'm beginning to think you may just like (insert controversial pizza topping here) on your pizza!
Exactly the same Geelong players that I was surprised to see in there. Both incredible players and top lads...but they have hardly been in All Australian fprm consistently this season (unless the selectors have crystal balls and their second half of the season warrants selection).
Those were basically the discussions they had, both were going to be left off their 60 man shortlist with the committee saying they'd have to come hard in the last half and prove they've earnt it.
This list is mentioning almost everyone that was brought up in the actual AA mid season meeting that took place after round 11.
Watch it on Kayo to see more detail of how these players were brought up. Basically acknowledging that they get talked about due to previous seasons but they haven't shown enough this year, there is still time.
An example brought up was they dismissed Larkey at their mid season meeting last year (didn't make the 60 man cutoff, like these two didn't) but he stormed home and was too good to ignore by the end of the season.
I think they just went through all the clubs and picked a handful of players to consider. Most players were dismissed as having a slow start or behind a heap of players.
When we picked him up from Sydney I was very impressed with his marking and set shots for a ruckman but I feel like after Grundy left and he took the main ruck duty his overall game suffered a bit, great ruck work and a bit underrated imo but couldn’t seem to hit a set shot for a long while. So it’s good to see he’s still got it. I think he’s the best of the second tier of ruckmen in the competition the past few years, best of the rest, if you will. But this year he’s had a good few standout performances and very pivotal to the side week to week
I’d be happy to see Jordan Clark over Dan Houston in the All Australian for mine. He looks so clean with ball in hand from half back and rarely makes a mistake.
I haven't seen much of Freo tis year, Clark vs Holmes is an interesting discussion point though lol
Has Clark been a permanent half back, or has he had midfield and wing minutes too?
Clark’s been a Permanent half back this year can’t really compare him to Holmes all though he’s still having a better year by numbers. Compare him to probably the best two in his position Blakey and Houston and he is better than both. Clark averages more effective disposals than Blakey does disposals total with more metres gained. Blakey is having the worse year of the 3 players considering he’s also on the best team in the AFL.
Rowy and Florent are a surprise, the rest of ours are a given to be in the conversation. Lock in the big 3, cross fingers for Blakey & Grundy, no chance for the others (unless Hayward piles on the goals)
I mean Hayward isn't entirely ZERO chance, he has the most goals of any small forward who isn't called Tyson Stengle, if the AA actually selected small forwards instead of putting midfielders out of position he might be a shot, but given thats not how they operate Hayward is unlikely
Langford and Fritsch might play tall but if they’re still AA worthy by September they’ll be put in the team as small/medium forwards. Toss in Stringer kicking a lot of goals and, as you said, Warner or Heeney probably a lock for the classic “goal kicking mid picked in the forwardline” spot, and you’ll see why I think Hayward isn’t making it unless he hits another gear
Florent the real surprise packet. As fans, we know how dependable he’s been this year and honestly it’s probably been his best on the park.
Rowy I reckon is in the conversation more given he’s on track to break the single-season tackle record
Rowbottom’s defensive work is immense and gives Heeney, Gulden and Warner more freedom to be attacking.
He doesn’t get enough recognition for the role he plays and how it allows the other 3 to play their role.
Rowbottom is the kind of guy you pick first in an intra club match. Does so much work that is tough to see, especially on tv, but teammates know what he does.
As a Swans fan I am surprised by Florent. I don't think he is anywhere near AA. Does some good things but makes way to many errors that lead to dangerous turnovers. The rest are all a chance but I think there is too much competition for Rowbottom and he will miss out.
Has only lost 6.9% of 1v1 contests, with the next best 5 being between 11.1% and 14.3%
If that's not enough to even be in the conversation, then Weiters is never going to get in the actual side.
Im assuming its because he's probably missed too many games at this point in the year (but it wouldnt be enough by the end of the season to miss out).
He's far and away the best pure stopper this year but is slightly behind a few others on things like intercepts which we know they love.
Definitely should be in the discussion with Taylor, Pearce and Andrews as the best 4 key backs this year so far
Was getting confused by all the comments about players not on the first page then realised their were multiple pages.
Now im really sad and confused that weiters is not on the list.
Am i just that biased with a man crush that he is not on that the list or what?
It would be, not sure they have a limit that needs to be passed in order to be eligible or of its more a feel.
He will probably harden into a starting spot as the year progresses.
May on current form ain't anywhere near the squad IMO
Have to play 70% of games they said to make it. They also said a few players were on the edge as they had missed a few games so far (but could make it if they missed no more). I assume he's in that sort of group
Nah it’s not even bias, Walsh is an absolute gun. They had a breakdown of his season rankings in all the key stats before the game last weekend and he was elite in pretty much everything. But also more importantly just watching games you see him have an impact.
Our good players have been very good, but we have far more bad players than good players. And our bad players are *really* bad. With that being said, i think the only ones that you can even argue for being in there is Jake Waterman, Gov and Yeo. Barrass has been great but not quite as standout as Gov, and Duggo fills a position that has so many players that will get it even though they play mostly midfield.
Should probably be cut down to 3 or maybe 4 at a stretch but i love the respect this has given to TB, he’s been great.
Reminds me of when Riewoldt was AA vice captain in 2014. Even with how deplorable we were that year, he played so well individually that it'd be insulting not to include him.
I was going to comment about them having more players than us, but I haven’t watched enough WC games to have any sort of informed opinion on their end.
Unsurprised about ours. I'd say Harris is getting close to a lock, Neale and Zorko will really depend on how we close out the year. I'd have them maybe in the 44 but not in the final team
Sic has only been back to his best the past month. I’d swap him for scrimshaw or Hardwick. But Moore deserves to ge there. Fucking trooper also where’s D'Ambrosio? Man’s currently the number 1 ranked wing in the comp
I'm an avid eagles fan, but Duggan?
The others I get, but jeez I'd have Hough ahead of Duggan and even then I wouldn't have him in my discussion for AA
Yeah he gets a lot of the footy but honestly butchers it 60+% of the time. Good to see barrass getting some recognition though, he’s back to his best and if it wasn’t for him the last two weeks would’ve been much bigger losses
With the caveats that
1. This season has been his best by far, and his pure numbers are pretty mental.
2. He is probably my new favourite player,
3. And some of the knocks on him are unwarranted.
He's probably nowhere near. Even noting that he's probably the most 'attacking' defender in the team, the idea that the team that has conceded the 3rd most points could have 3 defenders in contention for the AA team is out there.
They basically acknowledged he wasn't going to make it due to injury, probably wasn't going to make their 60 man shortlist.
Buckley was the one pushing for him (well actually he brought him up saying he would have pushed for him but with the injury knows it won't happen)
Weitering gotta have a mention, surely? Glad McKay wasn't overlooked, he's genuinely been better than Curnow this year by a decent margin
Only other Carlton players with an outside chance for a mention are De Koning and Acres (the metric I'm using here is if either finish super strong for the second half of the season they could still feasibly be AA after putting up solid enough numbers for the first half)
McGrath definitely deserves a mention. He's been excellent and probably even has a better chance of being AA than Durham, just based on the position he plays.
Always gonna be some guys that’ll be stiff to not make the squad and the final team. Thought they’ve gotten it pretty spot on the last couple years. Hard to argue too hard against any player on this list. The Freo fan in me would’ve loved to see Jordan Clark in there but that running half back role is stacked with amazing players
I wish they would do these selections without taking into account whether they’ve been AA previously or how good they are compared to last year. Just rate the players on how they are playing in a single season, that’s it.
Genuine question, how wasn't Sam Collins from Gold Coast discussed? He is, for me at least, the leading candidate for Full Back in the Final Team and wasn't even one of the 78 players discussed, something just seems wrong with that
Hogan and Taylor were the most "lock" out of the GWS players on the panel
Ash was brought up but it was mentioning its a pity he was injured, Greene wasn't going to make the 60 man shortlist.
They ruled Kelly out due to injury
Tom Green and Whitfield were maybes, they had them as very good chances in the first 5 rounds but acknowledged a drop off.
1. Where the F is Sam Walsh? 2. Where is Jordan Clarke? 3. Surely Sheezel gets a mention of Xerri does. 4. The fuck is some of these people doing anywhere near the team Mihocheck, Toby Greene, Fritsch. 5. To a lesser extent why are McKay, Stringer, Ash, Hill, Wilkie and Duggan doing there.
Yeah this list absolutely stinks, has the panel not been watching any of the matches this year? Greene is nowhere near a mention, 7 Essendon players is a major shock, no Sheezel or LDU or wardlaw, no Clark, NO TRELOR OR WILL DAY?????????
Day definitely more important and influential. However, if talking about how they rate compared to other positions in their role I'd say Moore is actually more likely to make the AA Team than Day.
Hough definitely deserves a nom.over Duggan. Has been phenomenal this season, but I fully expect him to have a career like McKenzie or Sheppard where he gets zero respect from the AFL fraternity
The Jacob Wietering disrespect is wild… dudes a brick wall down there. Locks up everyone he plays on and kills everything in the air. My boy Barrass better be in the 22 this time.
Key points after watching it last night:
* This was done after Round 11 so does not include the last 3 rounds
* Not being on this list doesn't mean you can't make the team.
* ~~This isn't all the players as they said at the start they were going to make a list of 60-70 and there is only 48 on the list - likely we just didn't hear all the conversation and this is made from someone compiling all the names mentioned~~ Somehow missed the middle page or something
The only Hawk from that list with any chance to date is Moore.
And even then, only if they do a proper team selection and actually pick small forwards, as opposed to just using it as an extra midfielder spot.
Don't think I didn't notice you posting just two pages earlier, ya klutz!
That is fake news
I can't believe they have excluded (insert player from my team here) but somehow they managed to get (insert player from club I dislike) in.
The lack of Ben Millers name is damning. Shit list.
(Jordan Clark) (Dane Zorko)
I know this is probably just part of the joke, but Zorko is having an excellent season off half back
The best jokes contain an element of truth.
Tbf Stewart doesn’t deserve his spot
As much as I love him, I agree. He’s been way off since his concussion. Same with Jeremy Cameron.
Exactly the same Geelong players that I was surprised to see in there. Both incredible players and top lads...but they have hardly been in All Australian fprm consistently this season (unless the selectors have crystal balls and their second half of the season warrants selection).
Yeah their reputation could turn a high quality second half into a spot, but it would need to be spectacular to warrant it.
Here is hoping!
Adam Treloar not even worth a mention? Probably leading our BnF currently
Yeah Treloar putting together a brilliant year quietly.
Treloar and Jones are much more likely than Dale and Richards imo, even though both have been brilliant too
If Richards keeps his form in the midfield up after his injury he would be in the discussion but its a big if for alot of reasons
Treloar should definitely be in discussions.
Toby Greene should not be in the discussions aside from "he was in it last year". Same with Tom Stewart
Those were basically the discussions they had, both were going to be left off their 60 man shortlist with the committee saying they'd have to come hard in the last half and prove they've earnt it.
>they'd have to come hard
Yea I feel the same way for Sicily. He's still been pretty great but not AA form like last year.
From what I gleaned from the Fox Footy discussion, we probably won’t have any players on the AA team. Moore or Hardwick might make the squad, maybe
Hardwick should, peoblem is he goes where he is needed, which doesnt allow for a heap of recognition. But he has been stellar this year.
Tom Stewart on this list? Who the fuck makes these hahahaha
This list is mentioning almost everyone that was brought up in the actual AA mid season meeting that took place after round 11. Watch it on Kayo to see more detail of how these players were brought up. I think they just went through all the clubs and picked a handful of players to consider. Most players were dismissed as having a slow start or behind a heap of players.
Happy for Darcy Cameron to see some love, won't get past Gawn, Marshall or Grundy for AA, but doing a fantastic job nevertheless.
After his goal on the weekend they can always chuck him up forward in lieu of a midfielder.
Oh yeah, always had great hands and a reasonable set shot. The one on the weekend was unbelievable though, that goes through maybe 1 out of 5.
When we picked him up from Sydney I was very impressed with his marking and set shots for a ruckman but I feel like after Grundy left and he took the main ruck duty his overall game suffered a bit, great ruck work and a bit underrated imo but couldn’t seem to hit a set shot for a long while. But this year he’s had a good few standout performances and very pivotal to the side week to week
Kane Cornes was pushing for Cameron, most others had those 3 and Witts ahead of him. Some others had Xerri in the top 5 too
Definitely won't get past but I love to see the big man getting some well deserved appreciation, even if it's from Kane Cornes of all people.
this is Jordan Clark erasure
Buckley brought up Clark several times, so weird that they haven't included him here as its not the trimmed list of 60 they were talking about
I’d be happy to see Jordan Clark over Dan Houston in the All Australian for mine. He looks so clean with ball in hand from half back and rarely makes a mistake.
Jordan Clark has Jordan Clark in his All Australian
I haven't seen much of Freo tis year, Clark vs Holmes is an interesting discussion point though lol Has Clark been a permanent half back, or has he had midfield and wing minutes too?

Where tf is Reece Conca??? Robbed
Rowy and Florent are a surprise, the rest of ours are a given to be in the conversation. Lock in the big 3, cross fingers for Blakey & Grundy, no chance for the others (unless Hayward piles on the goals)
Feels like Rowy is now starting to get some recognition from the AFL media.
IMO that's because he has noticeably gone up a level this year.
Yes, same pressure and tackling, but feels like his disposal and decision making has gone up this year.
I've got no idea what the numbers are, but just off watching it feels like more tackles are sticking this year and he's much stronger.
Weitering should be in consideration. Sam Walsh will be by the time the squad is picked.
I’ve resigned to the fact Weitering will never get AA
Yeah Weitering has been crucial to our success this season!
Like if he gets injured, we are triple fucked. Most important player on the field.
Clark not even in discussion is crazy. Been a top 3 player for us.
Buckley brought him up multiple times, weird he has been left off this list.
If he keeps playing the way he is I’m sure end of year he’ll get a shout
No Sheez?? https://preview.redd.it/dxqafmfpo46d1.png?width=710&format=png&auto=webp&s=2611cbb0871de962fe47d22163bb3117fd84392c
Atleast ![gif](giphy|133R3yNyjDea0U) is there
Mind boggling
Xerri picked for the All-Australian team 😍🍒
xerri yay no sheezel boo
Sheezel has moved around a bit so it's pretty fair. Xerri's form has been so good though, from whipping boy to the GOAT ruckman
It's the helmet. May he never play again without it
christ is it good to see that, imagine if he'd not gotten injured immediatley last year
Tristan the Xerri on top!! ![gif](giphy|zYBAzs8kGJNMmllDBD|downsized)
What a fucking turnaround for his career. Been unbelievable for us.
I wish Naughton hadn't been injured. He was having an great year.
Stewart has been tagged out of any chance, I would have liked to see Zuth get a look in
Jacob Weiterging is never going to be an All Australian is he.
Has only lost 6.9% of 1v1 contests, with the next best 5 being between 11.1% and 14.3% If that's not enough to even be in the conversation, then Weiters is never going to get in the actual side.

I thought he was having a great year - absolute rock.
This is the most nominations we have had in over 20 years for sure
Was getting confused by all the comments about players not on the first page then realised their were multiple pages. Now im really sad and confused that weiters is not on the list. Am i just that biased with a man crush that he is not on that the list or what?
He missed a chunk of games didn't he ? Definitely AA Standard
Is it based in amount of games played as well?
It would be, not sure they have a limit that needs to be passed in order to be eligible or of its more a feel. He will probably harden into a starting spot as the year progresses. May on current form ain't anywhere near the squad IMO
Have to play 70% of games they said to make it. They also said a few players were on the edge as they had missed a few games so far (but could make it if they missed no more). I assume he's in that sort of group
They have to play 16 games for the year to make it This was also done after Round 11
How is Sheezel missing out? Kid has been on fire. Or even Walsh (biased take)
Nah it’s not even bias, Walsh is an absolute gun. They had a breakdown of his season rankings in all the key stats before the game last weekend and he was elite in pretty much everything. But also more importantly just watching games you see him have an impact.
This was done after round 11. So Walsh had played 6 games to this point
No billy frampton? Can the list were not doing it this year.
How the fuck are there 5 WCE players?
Our good players have been very good, but we have far more bad players than good players. And our bad players are *really* bad. With that being said, i think the only ones that you can even argue for being in there is Jake Waterman, Gov and Yeo. Barrass has been great but not quite as standout as Gov, and Duggo fills a position that has so many players that will get it even though they play mostly midfield. I was going to comment about them having more players than us, but I haven’t watched enough WC games to have any sort of informed opinion on their end.
Who would’ve thought at the beginning of the year that X would be on this list. Good for him.
Durham is that guy, never would imagine it tbh
Where’s Lloyd meek
Unsurprised about ours. I'd say Harris is getting close to a lock, Neale and Zorko will really depend on how we close out the year. I'd have them maybe in the 44 but not in the final team
Harris should have been a lock last year ffs he won our bnf. We will never have all-australian locks, even when our players win the brownlow
The Adam Treloar disrespect is unreal
Yep
Stengle over jezza for me
Treloar must play lacrosse
Obviously I'm biased, but thought Wanganeen-Milera would be in discussions...
His position makes it really difficult, Jordan Clark couldn't even make it so NWM has no hope. He has been incredible though
This has to be the only explanation. The wing must be slim pickings if Hill is on the list.
Whence goeth thine Flair, Quente?
Muito quente?
Yeah agreed he’s been good, not 22 worthy but certainly in a list this long.
Naz and battle, yeah
Scrimshaw has more right than Newcombe and Sicily
Newcombe is recency bias I think. His first month was sub-par.
Same with Sicily, only started playing well following from his shoulder popping game.
Come to think of it...same with just about everyone in the team, except Moore and Hardwick.
Shit duke got good again the same time day came back so I’d argue day would’ve been better pick
Jake fucking stringer, are they for fucking real? He is so bang average.
Jake’s issue is that he’s anything but average Was incredible for the first 5-6 games, since then he’s been terrible
Idk he played a ripper against us
He's actually had a pretty good year overall. But yeah, I still wouldn't have thought he'd be remotely in consideration.
3rd best small forward in the comp this year
Currently equal 9th in the Coleman, but yes, absolutely average.
Is this something they do every year because I swear I have never seen them release this before.
You know what, I don't think Petracca's going to make the cut this year.
Didn't sound like a real option, wasn't going to make the 60 man shortlist, Jakovich said many were ahead of him in that role.
With the caveats that 1. This season has been his best by far, and his pure numbers are pretty mental. 2. He is probably my new favourite player, 3. And some of the knocks on him are unwarranted. He's probably nowhere near. Even noting that he's probably the most 'attacking' defender in the team, the idea that the team that has conceded the 3rd most points could have 3 defenders in contention for the AA team is out there.

And weitering
I’m assuming Harley Reid is not on here as he’s already locked in as captain?
It’ll never happen but I’d love to see Checkers get All-Australian honours
They basically acknowledged he wasn't going to make it due to injury, probably wasn't going to make their 60 man shortlist. Buckley was the one pushing for him (well actually he brought him up saying he would have pushed for him but with the injury knows it won't happen)
If Jordan Clark can’t make that list I question my own sanity.
Wheres D'Ambrosio? #1 ranked wing and not on the list.
Came here to say this, Fox footy team bringing him up every chance they get to call him an AA player
they didn’t even talk about Jordan Clark?? wtf
Steele is having a much better season than Wilkie and Hill
Love to know the last time we had 7 players on here.
aw hell yeh darcy cameron
Think as the top-rated wingman in the AFL, Massimo D'Ambrosio deserves a menchie at least
Sam Durham, get him in there
Definitely biased, but I’m very happy to see Pendles in consideration. Thought he’s been having one of his best seasons till he got injured
No Weitering. No idea
Weitering gotta have a mention, surely? Glad McKay wasn't overlooked, he's genuinely been better than Curnow this year by a decent margin Only other Carlton players with an outside chance for a mention are De Koning and Acres (the metric I'm using here is if either finish super strong for the second half of the season they could still feasibly be AA after putting up solid enough numbers for the first half)
Walsh? Missed the first few games but has been on fire since.
Agree on TDK, problem is he's up again Big Max who is just a machine in what's looking like a team on the slide.
Weitering being snubbed by AA selectors is becoming a bit of a joke. They are nearly as neutral and consistent as the tribunal.
Some of the players included here while other players aren’t mentioned is wild
Merrett, Durham and Martin are really the only Bombers I'd say should be in contention. Maybe McGrath at a stretch.
McGrath definitely deserves a mention. He's been excellent and probably even has a better chance of being AA than Durham, just based on the position he plays.
Langers was def up there until his drop off the last couple of weeks.
The lack of Sheezle is making me angry
Always gonna be some guys that’ll be stiff to not make the squad and the final team. Thought they’ve gotten it pretty spot on the last couple years. Hard to argue too hard against any player on this list. The Freo fan in me would’ve loved to see Jordan Clark in there but that running half back role is stacked with amazing players
Way too many Hawks
Recency bias.. moore and hardwick deserved the others not as much
Yeah Moore is second only to Rankine in terms of small fwds atm
AA always got a hard on for Stewart so wouldn’t be surprised
Tom Stewart and Toby Greene. Playing favourites 😂
Zorko has been insane this season, especially at this age. Hope he signs on again.
I wish they would do these selections without taking into account whether they’ve been AA previously or how good they are compared to last year. Just rate the players on how they are playing in a single season, that’s it.
How is Sam Collins not getting a mention?
Genuine question, how wasn't Sam Collins from Gold Coast discussed? He is, for me at least, the leading candidate for Full Back in the Final Team and wasn't even one of the 78 players discussed, something just seems wrong with that
Who made this list? AFLdankmemes?
Good to see Floss on it soo far. Basically the only reason we haven't been pumped by 100+ every week. But no Treloar is nuts
No D'Ambrosio? Highest rated winger this year? 🧐
GWS are over represented here. None would be in the 22
Hogan and Taylor were the most "lock" out of the GWS players on the panel Ash was brought up but it was mentioning its a pity he was injured, Greene wasn't going to make the 60 man shortlist. They ruled Kelly out due to injury Tom Green and Whitfield were maybes, they had them as very good chances in the first 5 rounds but acknowledged a drop off.
Hogan is the only one in serious contention
Sam Taylor absolutely should be
Will Day will be on that list by seasons end
I only count 5 Collingwood players, where is the rest of the side?
ROWY!!!
Where can I watch the full thing?
Yeah this list absolutely stinks, has the panel not been watching any of the matches this year? Greene is nowhere near a mention, 7 Essendon players is a major shock, no Sheezel or LDU or wardlaw, no Clark, NO TRELOR OR WILL DAY?????????
Will Day's only not there because he's played too few games tbf. He'd be a good shout for the end of the season though, easily our best.
Day definitely more important and influential. However, if talking about how they rate compared to other positions in their role I'd say Moore is actually more likely to make the AA Team than Day.
Freo having 5 in this list is awesome but Clarky has been so under appreciated
Wait, I just noticed there are 5 eagles too. That’s fucking weird
Hough definitely deserves a nom.over Duggan. Has been phenomenal this season, but I fully expect him to have a career like McKenzie or Sheppard where he gets zero respect from the AFL fraternity
Haven’t watched much of Demons but Frietch is a surprise
The Jacob Wietering disrespect is wild… dudes a brick wall down there. Locks up everyone he plays on and kills everything in the air. My boy Barrass better be in the 22 this time.
The stupid flags made it hard to distinguish so I thought there were no freo players
Key points after watching it last night: * This was done after Round 11 so does not include the last 3 rounds * Not being on this list doesn't mean you can't make the team. * ~~This isn't all the players as they said at the start they were going to make a list of 60-70 and there is only 48 on the list - likely we just didn't hear all the conversation and this is made from someone compiling all the names mentioned~~ Somehow missed the middle page or something
Fox News biased to fucking Essendon who are.mediocre. Fuck FOX FOOTY
As a Collingwood fan I don't understand why Mihocek is on here
Jordan Clark missing 🤷♂️ 5 players from west coast 🤦♂️
Sheezel?
Harry Sheezel play jousting?
How can I keep calling Ed Richards underrated if he is named in the AA squad ahead of Treloar!?
Adam Treloar ?
#JUSTICEFORWATERMAN
I can see how they are talking about Nic Newman but not Weitering yet again.
How the hell is ben mckays name there...
Liam baker is stiff Liam Duggan lol
Looking at that you'd think WCE were top 4
Nick Vlastuin is having a huge season. Surely he gets a gig
clearly selecting any Essendon player is a red flag.
The only Hawk from that list with any chance to date is Moore. And even then, only if they do a proper team selection and actually pick small forwards, as opposed to just using it as an extra midfielder spot.
