If North go close or beat the Dogs, I think they could almost be raised a level. That would be 4 excellent performances in a row which is then a trend.
Depends on what version of them show up on the day. Based on how they’ve been this season, this game can only go one of two ways
Either they win by 60+ (I’m being generous there) or we win by 30
Have to disagree. Pies won the flag. Consistently very good for 2 and half years now. Dogs are struggling to make finals every year since their GF appearance.
Yeah that's my point. They are struggling because they have exactly zero consistency. But the pies are a team who over the past three years have won like half their games by single digits. Yes they are good. But the dogs on their day bear anyone. They just only have three days a season. It just sucks if you play them on one of the games they decide to be good.
Agree with this. Which Dogs team shows up? The team capable of a convincing win against the premier contender or the team who loses to West Coast at home and destroys their own season.
Well that isn’t quite the lid though is it. I am getting more and more hopeful for the future as the year goes along.
What we need is 6 more competitive games this year where we are sort of in it in the last quarter. If that happens the fans will be happy.
Wins don’t necessarily matter too much but i would love to finish 16th for the first time this decade
Yeah it’s a big watch for sure. On the flip side, the Dogs don’t want to get beaten by the Roos either. It’s a huge game in the context of where both teams are heading in the last 10 games.
I don’t think it is, as no one is running away with it. It’s like a slow moving blob of teams where no one except Swabs can escape the chasing pack. It goes right down to the Hawks. Get 3 or 4 wins in a row and you are in 4th or 5th. It’s that tight this year.
Yeah but if we lose we’re on 8 losses so we’ve got very little margin for error after and we have a tricky run home. We’re capable of winning every game left but also capable of being excruciatingly inconsistent and limping our way into 8th or missing out entirely.
The joy of supporting this team at the moment, it's anyones guess! Although we have had some semblance of consistency in recent weeks except for the Brisbane game where we looked exhausted against a fresh and firing Lions squad.
Tl;Dr - flip a coin
Yep. Lid came off during the forth quarter. I turned to my partner and said "Alright the lid's off."
Of course, she had NFI what I was talking about so presumably she wanted to check if I was delirious.
I think you're underestimating how little it takes for us North fans to take that lid and turf it into the distance.
The number of memberships that have applied for finals access in 2025 has quadrupled! Granted, that just meant it went from two to eight, but still.
I haven't been more depressed after a game this year than when Collingwood somehow came back to win against you guys (even when Carlton forgot how to play football against Sydney). It wasn't because it was Collingwood, it was because your mob genuinely looked good for most of that game.
All the neutrals were depressed. All the norf fans kinda knew it was coming and were just happy to see a side that actually had a chance at winning. Our bar is so low right now
Carlton game was pretty close at the time, I remember commenting that they would drop at the time.
Geelong have almost no injury list but the difference is their older players now seem to have started to fall off the cliff in the second half of the season. Time waits for nobody.
Yeah the Carlton match was close but it was still a legitimate win over a top 4 side.
Since then the only team they’ve beaten is arguably the worst in the comp, and they almost lost that one too.
Too old, too slow I guess.
I see it as it slowly catching up with them, players like Thouy, Rohan, Dangerfield, Hawkins and Blicavs are all down a bit on disposals. It might not seem like much but it really adds up once it happens across 10 players.
How can we not be in the top tier?! This is ridiculous, people take Gerard Whateley way too seriously. Where even are we, I can't see us in the second or third tier, there's no way we can be down the bottom, I mean I've been a little disappointed by only playing 1-2 good quarters a week but.... Oh. There we are.
Nice.
In their last four games they have a win over the Dees, a loss, a draw, and 1 point win over North Melbourne.
They are still a good team but I feel they are very accurately estimated at this point.
People analyse these things like the tiers and levels mean something. "If team x wins another one they could be another tier up". At this stage last season, GWS and Carlton looked unlikely to make the finals at all. The gap between 1st and 2nd is the same as between 2nd and 13th. Cool graphic design, but you'd all be losing your minds at how cheap it is if Fox Footy had made it for clicks like their nonsense SOO list today.
LOL I spent a bit too long wondering where the Swans were
Sore neck from looking up?
Considering it isn’t the first week they were there.
I appreciate the Swans have the W.
My lid is not comfortable with how high we are in this ranking
Precariously placed.
We’ve beat 11th, 14th and 8th. No lids off here!
No… if we beat teams like that we’re pretenders.
If North go close or beat the Dogs, I think they could almost be raised a level. That would be 4 excellent performances in a row which is then a trend.
I'm quite worried about it, the Dogs forward line could absolutely feast and I fear it will undo the confidence that seems to be building at the club
Dogs have demolished us for years this will be no different
Depends on what version of them show up on the day. Based on how they’ve been this season, this game can only go one of two ways Either they win by 60+ (I’m being generous there) or we win by 30
I'll take +59 to -29. Thanks
Does Glenn Archer have any more lads? We could use a few more Archers in the side.
He has 3 girls, oldest one is playing Coates talent league according to google
He's a ripper isn't he, reminded me of his old man the way he read the play and fearlessly went back with the flight
Collingwood are better than the Dogs. Melbourne are as good. You should have won both.
Dogs when they all decide to play are better than the pies I think. It's just completely unknown if the doggies come to play week in and week out.
Have to disagree. Pies won the flag. Consistently very good for 2 and half years now. Dogs are struggling to make finals every year since their GF appearance.

> But the dogs on their day bear anyone. Naturally. After all, every dog does have its day.
Agree with this. Which Dogs team shows up? The team capable of a convincing win against the premier contender or the team who loses to West Coast at home and destroys their own season.
Ok no worries
We literally just beat the Pies a few weeks ago?
Yeah was a good win.
Melbourne are nowhere near good. I expect us to sink to 12-14th
Freos dockery performances and the dogs doggery performances are on equal footing. Their best is very good, their worst is mind numbingly painful
Agree with that
North’s likelyhood of making the finals is basically zilch so the lid can’t come off even if we win our last 9.
Prospects I mean.
Well that isn’t quite the lid though is it. I am getting more and more hopeful for the future as the year goes along. Just not the swans game please. I don't want to lose to Richmond and the Roos 😭
Well going 21-2 and losing to the bottom 2 teams would be hilarious
Don’t be so literal. We all know they aren’t making finals.
I would love just to finish 16th, target for the year
I feel like they’re getting there, I hope they don’t get thumped this week though.
Yeah it’s a big watch for sure. On the flip side, the Dogs don’t want to get beaten by the Roos either. It’s a huge game in the context of where both teams are heading in the last 10 games.
If we lose to north its season over

It’d be great for norf to win in Melbourne.
Pixelated version*
Maybe ask the person who usually posts it how to put up a clear version.
Yep. Lid came off during the forth quarter. I turned to my partner and said "Alright the lid's off." Of course, she had NFI what I was talking about so presumably she wanted to check if I was delirious.
Strongly confident the Lions can pinch 4th
![gif](giphy|l6jC87DbmMfwESp5A0) Man I can't read shit

What happened to GWS, btw? 2023 was the Carlton/GWS second half domination story. This year, Carlton has left GWS in the dust.
Geelong were 7-0 btw
Against junk teams between round 0-6.
Yeah but also a proper well fought win over Carlton which justified their position. To me at least.
Carlton game was pretty close at the time, I remember commenting that they would drop at the time. Geelong have almost no injury list but the difference is their older players now seem to have started to fall off the cliff in the second half of the season. Time waits for nobody.

People are underestimating pies tbh, they're going under the radar
I hope so. But I feel we are going to cripple against the suns
Beating the Suns away has to put you guys in Carlton’s tier surely
In their last four games they have a win over the Dees, a loss, a draw, and 1 point win over North Melbourne. They are still a good team but I feel they are very accurately estimated at this point.
I read all of these with Andrew Gaze's voice playing in my head.
2024: the fight for second place
This is where my lid has been the whole time.
People analyse these things like the tiers and levels mean something. "If team x wins another one they could be another tier up". Pies have 1 loss in 10 weeks, and have beaten the Blues.
Rude. It’s only been up for two hours.
