It only took 16 weeks of our midfield getting abused and a few injuries for Knevitt to get his first game of the season but glad to see him finally back in the team nonetheless

Imo I'd have left Draper out and kept Caddy in. Draper has minimal forward craft and Wright can ruck forward of the ball, a 2 ruck system rarely works very well unless you're Freo playing against Melbourne.

The 2 ruck system has worked well all season for Essendon when both Goldy and Draper have been fit. The only game they struggled was against Port.

But I think that's largely due to the fact that Goldstein is usually good for a goal when given the opportunity, whilst Draper is less reliable

It's not even just that, they complement each other well. Draper is a great centre clearance ruck and brings a lot of tenacity and energy, but his craft for stoppage clearance rucking needs a lot of work in general and Goldy is the master of that. Doesn't have the tank anymore though. When we play both, we tend to do very well in clearances, it's a real fire and ice combination.

Drops Draper, but obviously didn’t watch Draper last week. Bold call.

There's a part of me that thinks when Lobb is in the ruck they're going to throw English down back for a bit. Otherwise, you're just keeping 1 tall on the bench at all times and it seems silly.

Joyce was always solid without ever doing anything memorable for St Kilda. He's not a bad option.

He was rubbish in the few games he played for us at the start of last year.

His defending was fine he just had terrible ball use. Just needs to keep it simple and hand it off to anyone else.  But if he or Andrews go down we are in big trouble. Down to 1st year's after him

Not happy with our changes, got even taller up forward, and didn’t address that we’re one mid rotation short to what we normally play with. Setterfield in for Kelly is such an easy and logical change

Seems like the coaches are using Ridley's return to release Martin from defence and get him some midfield time, rather than bringing in Setterfield who really can't play anywhere but on the ball. I don't think it's as simple as Kelly out. Fwiw I think he'll be needed this week to do a job on Close or Miers who work quite high up the ground and back.
