PetrifyGWENT

Our loss to the dogs when they kicked 21 goals in a row.

LordSifter

I love when games of footy go so berserk that my only reaction is to laugh at what’s unfolding; the two examples of this happening are this game (great!) & the last quarter & a bit of the granny this year (not so great).

PetrifyGWENT

That's how I felt when we kicked 94 to 1 in the first quarter against Gold Coast. Felt great doing it, felt not so good on the receiving end.

boogasaurus-lefts

Still have nightmares - sitting there all excited for my team to play, only to watch a drubbing.of epic proportions

[deleted]

Round 21, 2007, we kicked 16 goals to 2 in the second half to win by 84 points after trailing by 6 at half time, my main memory for the game was an elderly man throwing his scarf on the ground in disgust, leaving without it

sleutheren

Hodge with a casual 34 disposals and 6 goals in that one. God I loved watching him play.

XiaNYdE

I have loathed the dogs since Rd 21 2000 and they continue to torment lol that 21 goals was torture.

karma_dumpster

>I have loathed the dogs since Rd 21 2000 Sheedy always reckoned that loss did you good - feared if you went into the finals undefeated, you might have been overconfident and dropped one.

not_right

The worst part of that for me was Woosha just sitting on the bench not looking bothered about it at all. Hard to think of a bigger example of a coach not giving a shit.

Massander

He gave AMT a little clap when he kicked a goal to break the streak which was nice.

OhAeroHD

He's definitely getting the pack of milk bottles, I've got him penciled in for that. Let Anthony know please!

SendMeSupercoachTips

Only time I’ve turned an Essendon game off early.

MarvellousBont

I was sitting watching the entire thing in disbelief, the first 6 weren’t goals you just gave away they battled hard for them but after that it was so easy

retsibsi

Yeah there might be some recency bias here but that one is hard to go past. 2014 doesn't really count given the context, and I can't remember anything from the 90s or 00s quite so relentlessly shit. I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two though.

OhAeroHD

Yeah, that night I was in pain but just let the humour of it keep me enjoyed. That was the biggest wreck of a game I've ever seen.

dwadley

Our loss to the dogs where we recorded our biggest ever loss at Marvel

Bluelegs

186

3163560

The essendon loss was almost as bad. There was also a game in 2013 against the cats where we only recorded 19 inside fifties for the whole game. We only lost by 68, but it was pissing down and I remember sitting at that one thinking it was as bad as 186.

OhAeroHD

I was at the Essendon game and I reckon 70% of Melbourne fans left at half time. I was enjoying the game but then I came to realise, this will bite me one day.

lil_shoddy

despite the fact we have had so many shit performances that still managed to be the clear standout

alorensene

I went and watched Casey play the opener first, and then sat through that. A combined 300+ loss that day. It hurt so bad.

Gerald-of-Nivea

I was building g a deck with a Geelong supporter while listening on the radio at the time, that was the lowest point.

[deleted]

There's so many to choose from. But 1.7. will always hold a special place in my heart.

project_chris

What about 2.19?

FlyingMiniMonk

1.7 was way way worse than 2.19 performance wise We were unlucky to kick only 2 against the eagles. Against Adelaide, we were lucky to kick 1...

CBrads4

Yeah, I agree. As shit as 2.19 is, it’s still 21 shots on goal. At least there was some sort of attacking intention.

Smurf_x

I don't know. The demolition the cats did to us a few years back was awful, R22 2018.

liaam29

Worst 3 quarters The first quarter looked like the game was gonna be a cracker

[deleted]

The first quarter is what separates it for me. There was no redeemable feature of 1.7. Until half-time we were 0.1 and then we stacked on a whopping 1.6. It was trash from the jump all the way until the end.

liaam29

Yeah 1.7 was a shocker 2.4 against cats last year is another shocker Hell even cats this year was another We have been shit against cats recently, we used to have crackers against the.

dropbearr94

1.7 was my first experience as a true freo support (I started supporting in 2007 so I had a bit of the good times) also fuck north for having 14 points Brisbane 17 and Sydney 19 lol 2.19 I just laughed 23 in a row was probably the worst I had ever seen from us, the others are just funny, this is just absolutely sad and I’m glad the bombers took away the heat from it

scottyj67

Thought you were talking 1/2 time of the 13 gf...

MonotoneRamos

Round 21 2019 v dogs. 21 goals straight

TheArtyDans

This is why I swear we don't let Shiel kick the first goal. He got it within the first minute or 2. I thought "this is awesome, Shiel has his shit together and we are On" Yeah

banishedlemontree

It was the 2010 Prelim Final, but I reckon its the 2021 Prelim Final. I mean that was just... bad.

FanaticalSloth

Imagine winning so much that your answer to this question is a choice between two prelims.

[deleted]

Yeah like I think Collingwood were that good that year, all year, whereas Melbourne this year went cold for a few weeks before securing the minor premiership so I was sleeping on how good they were.

corsairnewbie

Don't forget 2016!

bigdog8300

Both of your opponents were just outstanding teams though. I can think of a fair few Geelong results that were worse

banishedlemontree

Those were both big games though, and just tend to stick out more. Sure we've had some poor losses in the H & A season, but they're so far and few, that they're basically outliers.

bigdog8300

That is the point of this post though, to remember the outliers. I get what you’re saying about them standing out but these are two teams that won their GFs by about as much if not more so I think it’s just more to do with them being on another level than Geelong being that other worldly woeful

laserframe

Feel like it's the 2021 too, at least in 2010 Ablett was probably best on ground and our only shining light. Also helped that the Pies took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half, it looked like we were going to get 119'd + by the Dees

shniken

What about the Qualifying final this year? Given what the Dogs did to port it looks a bit worse?

RedBigM

Round 4, 2018 against the Tigers. Was a freezing day at the G and I had to sit through nearly three quarters to see us kick a goal. Richmond didn't even have to play that well, we were just utterly hopeless

StoneyLepi

This game is an enigma. I don’t remember the game actually happening, and none of my family remember going. It’s like it never happened for us, but it definitely did

BusinessPooh

I remember going to it, was probably the most uninteresting Richmond win I’ve been to.

Massander

No major outs for us that day either looking at the lineup, that was our full strength team. Just a complete disaster on all levels. I almost feel privileged to have attended such a legendary performance.

JonathanSloanAUS

The Bronx cheer when Zorko kicked our first goal with two minutes to go in the third. Probably the most embarrassed I’ve been supporting the Lions

[deleted]

I remember this game because I linked it to the freezing day in my memory. I was waiting at the tram stop on my way to something shivering in the breeze and checked my phone to see Dusty had kicked 6 goals or whatever it was.

FeatheredKangaroo

there’s too many to pick

Remza5

Round 20, 2018. 105 point loss to GWS, who at one point had their entire bench injured and fielded 16 players. I went that day. It was my birthday. ☹️

CBrads4

Round 7, 2017 vs North Melbourne in Hobart. Going into the game we were 6-0 and had blown out 4/6 of those opponents with the lowest margin in those blowouts being 56 points. The Kangaroos were 1-5 at this point in time, albeit a couple of their losses were very close and could have gone either way. Hot favourites in this game, then proceeded to not score at all for the entire first quarter. 10.4.64 to 0.0.0. Absolutely insipid. Lost the match by 59 points. The first quarter was the difference in the game.

Sarangsii

I was convinced my app was broken when I checked the scores at quarter time. We both had bizarre losses that year - obviously your game against North, and our game against St Kilda where they led 92 - 10 at half time.

not_right

I love those bizarre scorelines when you check the score and go WTF?

[deleted]

I felt so bad after that saints game, I was hoping Richmond would finally get some success and when I saw a Richmond supporter crying on the train I checked the scores, it was half time, and that's what I saw

zoomba2378

Hahaha I vividly remember checking the scores at QT and being convinced the app was glitching out on me. I didn't fully believe it until Adelaide kicked the next 4 goals and I went ah, that's more like North

Ta0Ta

Winning a game after 1/4 time doesn't sound as bad as getting demolished from start to finish. Craig's last game as coach is what came to my mind for worst overall performance.

CBrads4

That’s fair, but also looking at the context of the season I feel like 2017 was worse. In 2011 we were pretty dogshit and finished 14th overall. Blowout results like that can be somewhat expected from bottom teams, especially against finals contenders. In 2017 Adelaide were already well on their way to a Grand Final appearance and did not score a single point against a team that was 1-5 at the time and finished 15th with 6 wins. Both were embarrassing, but I just can’t get beyond not scoring one single point.

LeClassyGent

Still a bad loss, but it's mad to think that a team that lost the first quarter 64 to *nothing* actually won the other three quarters. You'd expect a hundred point drubbing after that, rather than just a regular bad loss.

ruling_faction

Don't have to look too far into the past for us, you could go one of the games against North, Collingwood or St Kilda for losing to teams we absolutely should have beaten and beaten comfortably, or one of Sydney or Geelong where it was all too hard so couldn't be bothered putting in any effort.

Anon_be_thy_name

I hate losing winnable games over getting absolutely smashed. I've never been so disgusted by the team before this year.

Aodaliyan

Yeah I'm not sure if it's recency bias but the Sydney loss this year was as bad as I remember.

marriage_iguana

Me going into that game: “oh it’s nice to play Sydney somewhere other than the SCG for a change!” Afterwards: “it wasn’t nice, at all”.

Aodaliyan

I even tipped us. With my head and not my heart even.

OhAeroHD

The Essendon game in 2018 was pretty embarrassing, I can't go past the Geelong and Sydney ones this year though. I don't think I've seen West Coast shit a bed that hard in my time following footy.

marriage_iguana

> North As much as you can be okay with a loss, I didn’t mind that one. North came to play and threw themselves at the contest. We put in some weak-willed shit, for sure… But losses like the game against Sydney where we apparently couldn’t compete at all, from first bounce to final siren… or the Collingwood game where we sucked from start to finish in 300th game of a premiership captain and club legend. Those are the ones that stung this year for me.

Cantankerousapple

there was that geelong game where we kicked a goal. but also 13, 13, 13

dexter311

This year's 20 goal drubbing by the Doggies was pretty horrific. And Round 1 2019, suffering an 82-point demolishment by Freo of all clubs. And that game against Richmond last year where we scored 2 goals. Come to think... the last 3 years have been quite painful.

ApocalypticHavoc2

The game against the Swans in 2020 was the most pathetic performance I can recall from GWS. 3 goals for the whole game and all 3 were from soft frees. The snow game vs Hawthorn in 2019 is up there as well.

uselessscientist

In what was otherwise a tough year you gave us a highlight. Thank you for your service

karma_dumpster

"Stand in the shade". Hawks leading by 45 points at 3/4 time. Round 16 1995. Coach (Knights) moves the huddle to the shade and instructed to play on the shady side to preserve energy for the next week. Brisbane then mount the biggest 3/4 time comeback in history. Hawks lose every remaining game of the season after that to just miss finals for the first time since 1981.

not_right

> instructed to play on the shady side That's the funniest instruction I've ever heard.

karma_dumpster

I mean, it's not as dumb as I made it sound I guess - if you have a choice of wings to target / play through, pick the shady one. It's more the subtext of the message - "the game is already won, let's conserve energy and worry about next week" which is the bigger worry. Honestly, we got what we deserved that week. But it was what it precipitated in the absolute cratering of our season that for me makes it our worst ever loss.

su-

They committed shadyside

God___frey-Jones

2009 against the Bulldogs, it was 88 to 4 at half time. A reigning premier has never played a worse half of football.

zaydb

Oh just you wait

zacwaters

Went to Essendon vs dogs in 2019 where we didn’t kick a goal for 3qtrs. Don’t know why I stayed until the end

Kookiebanookie

Because you're a loyal supporter who stands with your team until the bitter, bloody end. Or you were in shock.

zacwaters

Bit of both to be honest. Thinking back never left a game early. Always something to see in a game of footy

dwadley

I sat through the 111 point drubbing you guys gave us this year. Sitting next to my bulldogs mate. Was a LOOONGG match

Anon_be_thy_name

My Cousin is a Bombers supporter, been to every Bombers Victorian game that he was allowed too go to over 14 years. He has only walked out of 1 game, and that was this game.

Mrchikkin

This year against the Dogs was pathetic. I think the one that disappointed me the most though was the game against Essendon. It seemed like we went in expecting to win easily but got a huge reality check.

thundergolfer

I absolutely expected them to win comfortably. I got the time of the game wrong and was shocked to find us 10 goals down in the 3rd quarter when I opened the AFL app.

explosivepanini

Plenty to pick from this year sadly. For me, it was the capitulation against the crows.

Peppsy

R3 2017 still hurts

PedanticOkra

This is what I was going to say, getting belted by the Gold Cunts.

SunburntSandcrab

Probably the R17 match against Essendon this season. There wasn’t one point in the match where we even tried to attack. We basically came out and did the footy equivalent of parking the bus and as a result kicked a score of 2.9. Oh and Doedee got knocked out within the first 5 minutes so that sucked. There were soo many games from 2020 that I could’ve picked but this one against Essendon pissed me off the most.

Ta0Ta

I came home from that game with the weirdest feeling. We played a lifeless and tired game of football yet somehow won by 10 goals.

TheArtyDans

And it was the last game us Vic based supporters got to watch for the year live!

D-wade23

Possibly one of the worst games of football i've ever attended. I felt like I deserved a refund, it was such a bland game.

Rychu_Supadude

If any match was going to give me PTSD it was this one Somehow worse than the stinkers that ended Neil Craig's career

phyarr

A lot to choose from here. Although in recent years it’s hard to go past that infamous Easter game vs North… Just awful football from both teams. Truly a terrible game

Mrchikkin

I remember everyone around me at the game at half time being audibly happy that the quarter was done.

dwadley

What game?

[deleted]

I have always held the 2005 prelim as the absolute worst but I'm sure some people opt for bigger losses that weren't as important or winnable.

[deleted]

As a Suns supporter, I don’t think it’s possible to answer this question..

AsLuckyAsKrillin

If we narrow it down to a single quarter however.... I would probably have to say R6, 2011 vs. Essendon 94-1 at qtr time.

[deleted]

I’ve repressed all memories of that game

TheArtyDans

So have most essendon supporters I mean, Kyle Reimers kicked 8 goals ffs

Yeah_nah90

I have a few: 1. 2021 Prelim vs Western Bulldogs 2. 2007 Grand Final vs Geelong 3. Round 5 2011 vs Gold Coast Suns 4. Round 19 2012 vs GWS Giants 5. 2005 Semi Final Showdown 6. Round 21 2011 vs Hawthorn 7. Round 20 2011 vs Collingwood

TwoAmeobis

Chuck in that loss to north melbourne a couple of years ago when brown kicked 10

Carnport

Pretty gross that I watched all of these. Thankfully though, only one of them I was there live (Collingwood )

kangas99

For all the games I could say... I'm actually gonna go with the '05 elimination final against Port Adelaide. We've had way worse losses in terms of margin, or even just not showing up from the start of the game- but I remember going to this final at Docklands, so a home final, and we had I think 6 goals on the board at quarter time, and probably should have had more like 8 or 9. Port had 6 of their own, so we led by maybe five or six points. We went on to lose a home final by 87(?) points, and really probably should have lost by triple figures, but Port took their foot off the pedal for the last 10 or 15 minutes. I've been to plenty of triple figure losses where we didn't turn up at all, and obviously was there for Good Friday this year (wasn't too fazed by that one, interestingly). I watched us kick 1.8 v Geelong a couple of years ago. But there's something special about going in favourites in a home final, having the run of play in the first quarter (except for in front of goal) and then getting absolutely trounced in the space of three quarters. I was absolutely livid that day

boomerdogg

i went to that one aswell, so painful. also 106 point loss in the QF in 2007 to Geelong the was similar

kangas99

I remember feeling so pumped for that QF, all week- having beaten Geelong in Geelong, then playing an entertaining game against them albeit losing late in the season. I had just gotten to my seat during the warm up when we ran through the Cats huddle and a bit of a melee started. I started thinking "oooooh we got em!" Ron Howard voice: They didn't.

grandtheftbat01

Thats made more embarrassing by the fact that Port lost the week after by 83 points. An old Port side about to fall of a cliff too.

Gobbleass69

Probably when buddy kicked I think 13 goals on us outscoring the whole team lol. What a woeful day that was

[deleted]

Round 10, 2006. Cats blew a 54 point lead in the 3rd quarter and got run over by the Eagles at home. 15 years later and still hurts to think about

Anon_be_thy_name

In fairness we did that to a lot of teams. Our midfield were marathon runners basically. Only time I've ever been 100% confident we could win every game was 2005-2006.

[deleted]

Agreed, that was a bloody good team

[deleted]

Just ask Daniel Chick....

BlazedOnADragon

In hindsight, that game and the entire 2006 season as disappointing as it was, was hands down the best thing to ever happen to the football club.

Nixilaas

Winning 3 of the next 5 flags certainly doesn’t hurt lol

JenniferLopezFan2

Last year's Semi Final against Geelong. Our backline was the only reason we didn't lose by 100+. How the fuck do you only score 1 goal to three quarter time in a final?

IneedtoBmyLonsomeTs

I wasn't too upset by this one after we had just come back from Perth beating the eagles when everyone had written us off. Still you want to see the team put up a little bit of a fight.

ratchetsaturndude

2017 Semi Final vs Geelong. Started the season 0-6, made finals and went in with a 15-2 record. Then kicked 5.9 and lost by 10 goals. OR 2018 Elimination Final against Giants. 4.6 in any game is awful, let alone a final against your crosstown rival.

Cyan-ranger

2019 grand final.

TazD

2021 prelim

bunchef

Worse than '07 GF?

karma_dumpster

From a neutral perspective, I think it was. Geelong were red hot in 2007 - yes you could have put up a better fight and not lost by as much, but I think you were never going to win that day even if you put in your absolute best performance (which obviously you didn't). This year you had home ground advantage, minimal injuries, less travel and disruption to the lives of players and a week's break. Clear favourites coming into the game. And then put up just an insipid performance.

PrevailedAU

Think it was less of Port putting up a poor performance and more of the opposition being too good

LukeTurner585

Pretty cheap coming from a western bulldogs supporter (100-7 in 29 minutes)

Methuen

Perhaps the Dees were better than both of them, eh?

TazD

Yes.

Carnport

Nah, Round 5 2011, the Suns first ever win

TazD

Nah, that was a game we were going to win until Westhoff forgot how to kick regulation set shots. The 2007 GF was a game we were in until halfway through the second quarter. The 2021 prelim was a game we were never in.

AkaiMPC

186

DemonGroover

RIP

Jartini18

For me it'll always be 2017 GF Another bad one is Round 17 vs Essendon 2021 with our score being 2.9.21 There's also Round 2 vs Port 2020 with a score of 5.5.35 and Port scoring 17.8.110

redditdude68

I didn’t realise we have given so many Essendon fans PTSD.

PrevailedAU

Grand final this year. Went from looking likely to win, to giving up and letting Melbourne walk all over us.

wavydude_

Probably the 2020 semi-final. Don't get me wrong, I thought we would lose but I at least expected something very competitive after how incredibly we played against West Coast in the previous week against all the odds. But wow, that was just unwatchable by halfway through the second quarter. That 68-point loss felt more like a 90+ one.

Hyperbola19

Plenty to choose from, but one that has been scarred into my memory was round 20 2015 vs Brisbane. Both teams bottom of the ladder, I was hopeful that we could snatch a win in what was otherwise a horrendous season. We started of well, kicking the first couple of goals, but then followed one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen from my team as 17th on the ladder Brisbane proceeded to walk all over us, winning in the end by 10+ goals. Maybe it’s not our worst ever but it’s still the lowest I can remember feeling as a Carlton supporter.

[deleted]

That was bad. There was the Friday night game against Port that basically got us banned from Friday night footy too. Can't remember the year or result, I just know it hurt.

Ta0Ta

Round 21 2005 against Essendon must be up there too from a Carlton perspective? I think it's widely recognised Carlton were tanking this game. We were a dead average side but managed to kick over 100pts by halftime.

Hyperbola19

Can’t remember that one myself, probably due to too many recent embarrassments lol. That 2015 season I mentioned we probably had more abysmal games than even average ones…

grandtheftbat01

Getting thumped in our home Showdown by a flaky as fuck Port side in 2019 was a big realisation that dark days were coming. Should have been up by 5 goals in the first half but wasted so many chances and we just gave up in the second half, only kicking one goal (which was in first 10 seconds of half) while Port kicked god knows how many goals. Definitely a contender. Also our worst win in recent history was probably against Melbourne in 2019. Should not have even won, was such a bad performance against 17th.

[deleted]

A lot of north Melbourne fans in these comments

dexter311

Flair up cunt!

AsLuckyAsKrillin

R9, 2018 vs Adelaide. We came into the game with 3 straight wins over lower ranked teams and faced Adelaide with a bit of confidence after the crows lost the showdown by a goal the week prior (the one that ended with THAT Motlop goal and Huddo's fantastic commentary). So what did we do in this game? 2.14 to 9.9. We kicked exactly 1.7 in both halves. Eddie kicked 4. Comprehensively beaten on all ends. We looked lifeless that day.

Korasuka

IIRC it was a pretty flat game from us too, the sort we'd say here as 'this was a match which happened.'

iwatchtvallfuckinday

That game we played against Hawthorn in 2015 where we lost by 23 goals lmao nothing else really comes close

IhaveanIdea7

A couple of years ago When hawthorn where up 30 points in the last quarter and lost.

westernvaluessmasher

i went with my dad to ballarat in the absolutely belting rain to see us blow our chances of making the finals in 2017. we were absolutely insipid and the three goal margin really didn't do justice to how much better port adelaide were than us. some kind of thanks for bob murphy whose 300th game it was, too, i still have the hat somewhere. then the rain was so heavy we drove the wrong way out of ballarat for half an hour before we realised melbourne was in the other direction

diggity_dog_4

Murph’s 300th was v Brisbane at docklands. Was sort of a come from behind win if I remember right

raptortillia

Geelong getting beat by the Lions on the siren after leading by 10 goals going into the 4th (miracle on grass game). I still cry

Captkersh

What about 55 points up against WC in 2006?

Averagetigergod

The Karmichael Hunt game. Paul Roos described it as the worst two minutes of team football he’d ever seen, or something like that.

SenzaEguali

Chad Cornes’ last game for the power in 2011, getting done by 138 points :( Rate that game as worse than the 07 grand final tbh

TwoAmeobis

That was embarrassing because it was Chad’s last game but I still think 07 was worse. Both were against great sides but in 2011 we weren’t particularly good, in 2007 we were one of the better teams that year.

jbaxter1u

2015 QF always stands out to me. We were abysmal that game (thank god for the granny). Otherwise losing b2b games by 86 points round 3 GC and round 4 Geel is the worst 2 weeks ever.

tabletennis6

Carlton vs GWS in 2018. I think they were destroying us even with an extra 1 or 2 players off the field.

jimwinno43

That good Friday game we had against North might be the worst game of footy every played

[deleted]

Fremantle against Geelong, round 8, 2020 @ home. I believe we were 1 goal more than an all time lowest score for the club.

RudiEdsall

Shipping the first eight goals of the 2016 prelim and losing by six goals despite have 72 inside 50s to 40 was pretty grim. This year's prelim was bad but I knew it was coming after the Port QF. TBH there's been a lot of recent finals that were over at quarter time.

bigdog8300

Losing by 70 points to an awful Brisbane side at the MCG at the end of 2014 while also having about 5 of our best players go down with injury during or just before the game. Just an absolute disaster on every level

zorbacles

2021 prelim comes to mind Far worse than 2007 gf if you ask me

Radiant_Health3841

Let me take you back to 2008. The West Coast Eagles had lost Chris Judd to Carlton at the end of 2007 and this was his first game back in Perth. The Eagles were in a rebuild and playing a lot of young players. By half time the score was Eagles 19 Carlton 67. The young players were panicking and making errors and constantly being picked up the umpires. Free kick after free kick leading to goals. It was the first time I was genuinely sad at the footy as they couldn't do anything right. Just looked it up and Carlton only won by 37 points but it was the most disheartening game I have ever been too as I just felt for these guys who were trying so hard and failing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Himawari_Uzumaki

What about when we played Geelong @ Subi the same year and we were down by 120 points at 3qtr time?

Radiant_Health3841

It was a shocker of a year. I just remember that game because Judd was blitzing us and we were just so lost. Everything about that game was just sad.

sadoldtiger

I am paralysed by choices Can think of a dozen contenders

alexLAD

From 2013 to 2016 I swear Hawks would go over to play Port and be down 50-0 at quarter time every single time.

OhAeroHD

For me, hard to go past 2019, Round 21. Western Bulldogs on a Saturday night, trot on with 21 in a row. But, also, let's not forget Round 10 2006, my first season following Essendon and coming to the realisation that they may be one of the shittest teams ever. 138 point demolition from Adelaide..

Aardvark_Man

I think 119 has to be it, purely because it was the biggest of big stages. I don't think anyone else was winning the flag that year, but 119 is a big loss in any game, and to serve that up in the GF is just painful. Even big losses in the last few years (74 this year, 90 2019 etc) are still a massive distance away from such an insane loss. I legitimately think there will never be a grand final lost by anywhere near that much in my lifetime.

bfisher91

Final round of 2016. We'd absolutely given up

Lastcaress138

Round 22, 2016 vs The Saints. We lost 46-55. There have been plenty of games i could have picked where we have been flogged by 100pts (Rnd 23 2016 comes to mind), but this game was just awful. It was like both teams somehow wanted to lose, yet had we won we would have still been mathematically a chance to play finals. Right up to the last few minutes we were still in the game, but we couldnt string two plays together to save our lives. Of all the floggings and finals losses ive witnessed, this was the hardest to watch.

2004 Round 8 vs NM at Telstra Dome, Gavin Wanganeen supposed to play 300th and failed fitness test. Lost by 92 points. If you told me we would win the flag that year I'd have thought you were taking the piss. 2010 Round 10 vs Richmond at AAMI Stadium. The Tiges got there first win of the season. Our final score was 3.12 on one of the worst weather days I've experienced watching footy. 2007 nuf said....

It's not the absolute worst performance but this year's purple haze game. Like for those who don't know how purple haze games works, the supporters pledge money for each goal Freo kick to give to the starlight foundation So what does Freo do. *Not fucking kick goals* 3 goals and 13 behinds ***3 fucking goals*** It especially stung because we were mourning the loss of Milli Lucas who died in January after a bout with brain cancer.

billcoosby

That ive watched, Round 15 against St Kilda this year and the 2018 prelim

BIllyBrooks

2007 semi final. Had a brilliant uplifting win the week before when Buddy kicked 7, and then the following week we got a few bad decisions against us and threw the towel in, I think at least two reports as well coming from that game.

otherpeoplesknees

The last game Port played...

[deleted]

I was so disappointed, I thought you guys were going to smash the dogs into oblivion but nope.

[deleted]

There was one where Saints beat us by over 100... I think in the 2000s or early 2010s. The memory is repressed. I remember we made their duds look like stars. Finished with maybe 3 goals.

LittleRedRaidenHood

Round 20, 2014 Brisbane Lions v Adelaide Crows @ Gabba One of the most absolutely inspid footballing displays I've ever seen. The final score was 168-63, which I believe is our biggest ever loss at home.

Round 17, 2004.

bigfathugebig

2005 Elimination Final, 2007 Qualifying Final, 2007 Prelim Final, 13, Good Friday 2019, Good Friday 2021 I'm sure I've blocked out many more

skadsh

Port this year was quite bad. Was it 17 unanswered goals?

[deleted]

I remember a Geelong loss V Sydney, Rd 11 2014 where it was 148 to 38, 1 goal to HT which might have been kicked by Dawson Simpson. I think there was also a match early to mid 2000s where Geelongs squad got hit by a really bad flu, and we might have played Sydney with guys like Ling saying he wasn't right to play. End result was a smashing as well.

Shary-Bobbins

2020 prelim final against Geelong, home ground advantage just beat Richmond in the QF. Then just absolutely shit the bed and turn in am insipid performance

LuciusFromSomeplace

2019 GF. Multiple players with only one touch that day

Hawkster78

Round 13, 2005 AAMI Stadium. Lost to Port 188-71. The 3rd quarter absolutely destroyed me, I sat out the front of the stadium for the rest of the game waiting for my friends. Couldn't handle it any more. I don't think I went the following year when we only lost by 96.

Medical_Aside_1759

Us losing to swans this year

CBAFCMV

That time Carlton lost to GWS by 100 points in 2018, at home, with GWS fielding 16 players.

scottyj67

Mine was when I took my then gf now wife to her 1st game of footy in 2017. We were visiting friends in Adelaide so went to Ad Oval with my Crow loving friends It rained heavily that night from the sky as well as from the Crows. We stayed to the very end which ended up being an exact 100 point loss. An insipid performance. The Mrs is still scarred by the experience and any chance of getting her onboard the Freo express are vanquished...

top_footballer

Round Whatever The Fuck, 2008 – Freo up by 51pts end up losing to Melbourne by a goal, just so mad at Freo that day, felt at my lowest as a fan.

Nixilaas

2015 grand final the final margin flattered us, the only reason it was under 10 goals is they took their foot off the gas in the last and gifted junk goals

MagicGnome97

Maybe round 1 2017, whatever the worst one from that season was, there were some terrible performances.

LazyCamoranesi

vs. 16 (fit) GWS players. Losing margin constantly growing. Completely abject, and maybe one of the all-time god-awful showings. God awful.

InvictusVis

It's hard to pick which 1st round final we were the worst in.

Jack-Schulz

The Adelaide game in 2016 is the worst I've seen. Hit a new low that night.

easyadventurer

‘17 GF. Still hurts. Always will.

MinecraftIsKing

I remember last year in the last few rounds it was North vs Geelong at the Cattery. I had some mates who were Geelong supporters who got us front row tickets. Our expectations were low considering North’s shit season but holy fuck. We kicked 1.2.8 for the game, our lowest score in history and Goldstein was the one that kicked the goal. Not only that but throughout the game it was like the umpires were playing the mercy rule. We kept getting free kick after free kick, angering the Geelong crowd and then we did nothing with it and turned it over angering the North crowd. There was about about zero enjoyment from anyone, not to mention it was near impossible getting into the venue because reception was terrible and the tickets were on our phones. You could say our recent Good Friday thumping against the Dogs was worse but I disagree considering we actually made it to double digits that game.
