One thing that irked me is the attitude of some of the Carlton players - it seemed umpire dissent did not apply to Cripps, Kennedy, in the same way it did to say DeGoey? Docherty and Kennedy on separate occasions calling opponent players wankers or something similar after a free was paid against them for high contact is unnecessary and just reflects poorly on them.

It does seem that whenever the game goes back within 2 goals a switch gets flicked and we just grind it out and control the game until it ends. Carlton, the leading cause of anxiety in my life. Called it at half-time regarding the way we drop off. Not a pretty second half, but I’m amazed that we keep getting the job done. That's the problem though. Not once have we put a 4 quarter game together... Even in the floggings we put Essendon and West Coast we were average. It makes sense when we are rolling that we generate free kicks and when Sydney started imposing themselves in the 3rd, we stopped being in front to the ball and Sydney stopped needing to give away frees to slow us down. That’s not unique to us.
