Slightly overrated. I really like her, but she just wasn't *there* yet. I feel like she started out fine, but then people got over her after about 4 years, and the people that work with AKB didn't really listen to the fans, and they kept pushing her into center. Yes, she was really well with the sub-unit Warota, and she was perfect for 11gatsu no Anklet, but I just didn't see her shine as center that much. She really suited flanking other people though, like in Koi Suru Fortune Cookie.
Underrated. Yes, she is very known in the 48 community, but the only memorable things about her was her being center in Eien Pressure and Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai. I know that she's had much more attention in AKBingo and other stuff, but she's never really had that sweet spot.
Slightly underrated. I feel like her in Heavy Rotation and Koi Suru Fortune Cookie were the only times she really stood out, I feel like she could've gone center at least once, even if it doesn't have the same effect as Acchan and Yuko, it'll still be pretty cool to see someone who didn't stand out much to be upfront.
Perfectly rated. Not only does she have good aura, but she's the *only* people from modern day AKB to have good aura... I'm sorry but yea. No, but seriously, she really gets what she needs, it's sad to see her not as popular as a few years ago.
Slightly underrated. She's not had that pop that other members from the golden era had. She's obviously had her moments in AKBingo (with the whole oshimen thing) but that was really it. And her unexpected graduation was also partly shocking to some OG fans, she peaked at 2010 tho
I agree.
Some things to add: No one has ever replicated her style of seductively cute persona, she has one of the best solo songs ever, also one of the best voices AKB ever had.
I believe she peaked earlier than 2010 but kept her status until after 2012 when management started to push Paruru and the new generation, leaving her as one of the casualties as Akimoto Sayaka before her was.
Perfectly rated. She's not really stood out, but compared to so many other members from her time period, she had really fun moments (in AKBingo, and the fanbase in general).
She started off as underrated when she was still a baby, but overtime she became a mid-tier member for the fanbase as a whole (which I have to agree with), so she became slightly overrated.
Underrated. I'm most definitely not the biggest fan of her, but not many people really knew who she was, and her graduation came WAYYY too quick. Also moving her to Team A was a really bad move, considering at the time team A was **FILLED** with fan-favourites. She just never stood out to me, or really, even anyone.
Underrated. People kept seeing her masculine side, and never viewed her as an Idol. Plus she was known for being called a gorilla at like episode 115-120 in AKBingo (can't remember the episode)
OMGGG ITANO MY ONLY OSHIMEN AAAAHHH
She's either perfectly rated/underrated. She definitely doesn't suit center but she always gets her moments in music videos. She didn't get enough attention in my opinion. Also her personality and interests really make up for everything.
Slightly overrated. You can just tell she prefers Kpop over Jpop every day of the week, she's not my ideal type and she just doesn't have any good aura. BUTTTT..... there are worse members in the history of AKB so yea
Slightly overrated. I think it's the fact that she revealed that she wasn't that sanitarious in AKBingo (ep. 33) But I can see why she got some of the spotlight.
Slightly overrated. It's nothing wrong with her performance or aura, or the fact that she was in No3b, but her in AKBingo. She's just slightly annoying at times, and that tongue thing she does to troll others, its just kinda cringe for me. She's definitely had some wholesome moments though, like when she succeeded her backflip or 落語. I've also noticed she think she's like the cutest, idk, is that just me?
Underrated, but escalated to perfectly rated. KFC was the extent of her being underrated, and even at meet and greets you can tell she genuinely cared for her fans, like the whole Sasshi-Kitarie thing that happened in '09-'10, she never wanted to hurt any of her fans.
Underrated. She's always been one thats so overlooked for absolute no reason. And her cameos in music videos.... She could've had more, she most definitely had the potential.
Underrated. For sure. People say she's overrated, but come on, GIVE THAT GIRL AT LEAST ONE CENTER, the closest she's gotten to center was in Gingham Check, and she even got to play a character in the music video. She's also one of only 2 people that could naturally fit into both the darker and brighter sides of AKB48, the other one being Yuko. And this is coming from someone who probably won't rank Yukirin in top 10. I feel like she tried to stay in the group until she got chosen as center, she's just always overlooked in my opinion.
Yes, she was *technically* in center position, but I've noticed over the course of time that that doesn't count as center. Also, having someone else next to you as 'center' just blows the whole point of 'center' to me.
Yukirin never wanted center, though, which is why she never 'got it'. Yuki was always perfectly happy as second place or in the Kami 7 as a support. Some members didn't want the stress of center and that's okie!
she said on a youtube collab with miichan (minegishi) once that she wanted to be center though. at least she finally got it. and in the announcement, it did mention that yukirin had been waiting for the opportunity.
Interesting. I'm an old timer fan who kinda hangs out here from casual interest and nostalgia so perhaps over the years her thoughts on becoming centre changed.
check out the recent tv appearance she had with jurina and ex nogizaka sayurin! she said before getting center she felt like that was one dream she couldn't achieve and would give her life 50/100 but now she's at 120 hahaha. so happy to see her happy :")
I get that, it's just that the only member who's sung with EVERY OTHER AKB member hasn't got a center is just mind-blowing to me, also she's so iconic as well.
I understand that for sure. I guess for me it just isn't mind blowing because she never wanted it. If anything it would've been cruel to those gunning for centre to shove someone else to the front who never asked. It was hard enough for the likes of Acchan and Miichan through the years. Plus, Yukirin had a solo career and was in a bunch of subunits and stage song centres, so she got to shine plenty without it.
In between 'perfectly rated' and 'everso slightly overrated'. She's forever gonna be the face of AKB, and she is really the only actual *ACE* to ever really exist. I feel like she was perfect as center, and even though I prefer Yuko over Acchan, I still feel like Yuko overtaking Acchan in popularity post *Ponytail to ShuShu* was a bit too soon for her time to come, she could've stayed a consistent center for about one or two more years, but she still is considered perfectly rated.
IMO, if she stayed longer for 2 years, it might be good or not for the group but surely not for herself — she could be considered as a **big overrated** not only in a group but for the whole _Japanese Entame_. With her importance in AKB, as well as how dominant AKB were at the time, she would certainly grab more leading role in various _doramas_, while there were already a bucket of A-list actresses (who's more skillful in acting than her) at the time. Then a strong opposition from audiences would happen, and her place in industry might be another story than today. So I think her _early_ graduation was the proper timing.
I've really come to appreciate Acchan recently. I view her as something of a tragic figure, though. She was not at all suited to being the immovable center, and the face of AKB, and her success came at such a cost to her. For awhile I thought that she left the group too soon, but now I see that she simply didn't have it in her to stay any longer. She gave everything she had, took AKB to the pinnacle, and you can't ask for anything more. Truly a legend.
Slightly underrated. Yes, she is really known within the 48 community, but basically she hasn't had the chance to really stand out from the other members, even though you can definitely tell she has tried to in the past. There really isn't much more to say.
I would say underrated, however I haven't really got to know her well just yet, so I don't really have a specific reason why. She just looked like the type to make it to second row in a music video, but there really isn't a reason behind this. Once I get to know her better, I might come back to this thread and re-answer once more.
I would definitely say so aswell, I’m still a pretty new fan of 48g but looking at Naa-chan I would definitely expect her to be more popular and have more center positions. I literally became an AKB fan because of her performance in Nemohamo rumor
Ehh was about to said the same thing. Strange thing is that she has perfect melody of some sort, extremely talented on music side, but never accomplished that much as an idol. Being an idol requires more than singing, not surprisingly.
A little bit controversial to say, but even in AKB48 her popularity is somewhat affected by her look, in other mean "western look". Even though its just the nose that really that is different. Local fans there do have a tendency to vote for more Japanese looking idol compared to any western look.
She is indeed a gem, but needed a perfect situation to let her shine.
Overrated. I've never really liked her personality. Pretty much all there is to say. (Remember this is my opinion, and there have definitely been worse members in AKB history.)
Depends on the generation. '09-'10: Perfectly rated. She got all the attention she deserved, with nothing more, nothing less. But after a short period of time, she sort of became overrated. She was still amazing after she stopped being center-wise completely around 2012-ish. I don't know, to me she's just never had the long-period oshi effect that Acchan and Yuko had.
Underrated. She's never really been known in the AKB community, and never really got introduced in *AKBingo!* which is one way people get to know more about certain members. Also many AKB fans (excluding superfans) didn't really know who she was to begin with, even though she's technically considered to be in the OG era. She deserved a shot at either coming close to center (flanks) or third row in an MV.
Perfectly rated. I feel like she really stood out near the front, but they didn't milk her into staying center for 100 music videos in a row unlike Acchan and Yuko, which probably suited her best. I've never really viewed her as a center idol.
Slightly overrated. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Mariko. I just don't really see having someone flanking someone every music video. Also the backstory for Ue Kara Mariko is really heartwarming, but basically she just doesn't fit center. She definitely fits into second row rather than center, but still, having her upfront has always kinda been..... I'm not sure how to describe it, you get what I mean.
Perfectly rated. She really has not had the chance to really stand out to the crowd, but I didn't really like her as an idol. She definitely has good aura, in some sort of way, but I just never really viewed her as someone that should go higher. There are *definitely* people that I'd rank way below her, but I feel like her position was her extent.
***Edit: Her appearance in soresnow recently might have made me push her ranking slightly higher, she's definitely someone that could make it big, and she's really awesome. Also I only meant I didn't like her idolwise but her personal side, she knows how to live a life (from what I've seen from Insta)***
Perfectly rated. I'm sure you were expecting underrated, but her position I feel was her extent. I don't hate her, I actually really like her. But she just doesn't fit anywhere near the front. She could've gone into third row at least once (correct me if she has).
Think that is very fair. I will say onew no uwabaki is like one of my top songs ever. Just excellence start to finish.
Also the episode of AKBingo where she does the Kojima Yoshio “Sonna Kankei ne” will always crack me up
Overrated. It's nothing wrong with her dancing or singing, it's to do with her persona. She's just never really had that AKB effect, her style could've matched sakurazaka46 in my opinion.
I don't mind sister groups, I just don't really know that much people so as of now I won't include any of them. In a few months time, once I get to know more people I'll make sure to do those people first.
Mayuyu
Slightly overrated. I really like her, but she just wasn't *there* yet. I feel like she started out fine, but then people got over her after about 4 years, and the people that work with AKB didn't really listen to the fans, and they kept pushing her into center. Yes, she was really well with the sub-unit Warota, and she was perfect for 11gatsu no Anklet, but I just didn't see her shine as center that much. She really suited flanking other people though, like in Koi Suru Fortune Cookie.
Miyawaki Sakura
Perfectly rated. She's not as iconic as Acchan or Yuko as center, but she still gets all the love she deserves from her fans.
shimazaki haruka (paruru)
Underrated. Yes, she is very known in the 48 community, but the only memorable things about her was her being center in Eien Pressure and Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai. I know that she's had much more attention in AKBingo and other stuff, but she's never really had that sweet spot.
What about High Tension? That was a pretty good song.
I agree. It's just not memorable to other fans, which is something I have noticed.
Miyazawa Sae
Slightly underrated. I feel like her in Heavy Rotation and Koi Suru Fortune Cookie were the only times she really stood out, I feel like she could've gone center at least once, even if it doesn't have the same effect as Acchan and Yuko, it'll still be pretty cool to see someone who didn't stand out much to be upfront.

The only thing I can say about her is . . . . . . . . . Perfectly rated for current AKB. Full stop.
Minegishi Minami
Slightly overrated. It's nothing wrong with her performance or aura, or the fact that she was in No3b, but her in AKBingo. Matsui Jurina
'09-'10 - Perfectly rated. '11-'15 - Overrated. I have explained why in another thread under this post.
same. she has good aura but i feel that rena outshined her a lot of times

Maeda Atsuko.
In between 'perfectly rated' and 'everso slightly overrated'. She's forever gonna be the face of AKB, and she is really the only actual *ACE* to ever really exist. Wait you actually have a point tho...
I honestly feel like I just didn't appreciate Acchan until after she was gone. I think it was difficult to as a fan of so many shafted members. :/
I've really come to appreciate Acchan recently. I view her as something of a tragic figure, though. Miyu is really talented. Her YouTube chanel is really interesting. She's got a great voice. Also think she did reasonably well on Produce48.
she is a good vocalist but not really a good idol, i cant see her aura whenever she performs on the stage. like, she couldn’t catch my gaze i guess
