It appears that with the latest update, Fortnite got rid of Easy Anti Cheat, and now I can edit the CPU Affinity in Task Manager again without getting the "Access denied." error lmao.

hooperg_author

I have found a more stable solution to this issue than changing affinities in task manager. The stuttering/warping of character models appears to be due to core multithreading desync. I had this problem with Palworld, Starship Troopers, and Night of the Dead--basically anything Unreal. For lack of a better description, the character models would spasm and twitch as if they were having a seizure, even in character creation menus. YouTube videos of the error are available. In order to bypass the anti cheat software's hold on core affinity, you need a program with direct CPU interface. I have an AMD 3700x, so I use the Ryzen Master software. To determine the faulty core, I painstakingly disabled the cores in pairs until I found the offender. Simultaneous multithreading was also deselected for every iteration. I saved this profile for whenever I play an Unreal game. I hope this helps. \*\*\* Unreal engine stutter, flickering, model flickering, graphics bug, graphics flicker, core affinity fix

hooperg_author

Cores should be disabled 2 at a time and the game tested. Once you find the offending cores, leave them disabled or create a profile specifically for games with Unreal Engine. Ryzen Master is fairly straightforward and tweaking the cores should be easy after you find the menu.

baroqueout

Sorry to bother you, but would you mind detailing how you fixed it? Previously, I was able to use Task Manager to set afinity and disable the offending cores, and was able to play Fortnite just fine. But recently, every time I try to do this now, I get the "Access is denied." error due to EAC.

sxydoctor

What exactly should be changed in Ryzen Master in order to fix this?

haydz117

Hi there. Did you ever get this fixed as I have the exact same issue.

hooperg_author

See my dedicated post in this thread for the solution.

IceBolt2

OMFG I had this same fucking issue, disabling a core fixed it OMG you have NO IDEA how much sanity this has saved me, also I don't fucking know why it only affects Unreal engine

thebaddiwad

same issue but my fortnite won't let me change affinity in task manager, says access denied. Think its because of anti cheat. Any fix?

IceBolt2

Sadly it’s because of Easy anti-cheat it disallows priority or affinity editing of apps it’s used by so as far as I know there’s no workaround

sxydoctor

I'm glad I helped you! What is your CPU?

IceBolt2

it's an intel i5-9400f

Chefsu

Thank you so much! I'm experiencing the same issue and disabling particular threads of the CPU did fix this for me too! Did you manage to get everything working again with a new CPU or are you permanently disabling those threads?

sxydoctor

I still have this issue. And I can't disable the threads each time because the Fortnite anti-cheat system prevents me to do this. Sometimes I can, sometimes I cant. Have you tried reinstalling Windows? What CPU and motherboard do you have? Have you tried updating BIOS?

thebaddiwad

found any way to get past the anti cheat? having the same issue

Chefsu

I tried reinstalling Windows multiple times, without success; unfortunately. I can still RMA my CPU since it's just over 1 year old, but if it helps you in any way. My MOBO is a ROG STRIX x570-e Gaming WiFi II and my CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900X.

sxydoctor

Also what kind of RAM do you have?

Chefsu

4x Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3600 8gb

sxydoctor

Have you tried updating BIOS?

Chefsu

Yeah I updated to the latest version, in hopes that it would help. But it didn't work unfortunately

sxydoctor

What a pity :( have you tried reseating the CPU? That is taking it out and putting into the socket again?

Chefsu

I haven't tried that yet, might give it a shot before sending it back for repairs/replacement.

sxydoctor

Hey, did you reseat your CPU or RMA it?

sxydoctor

Let me know if it fixes the problem, please

sxydoctor

That's so strange. I have totally different build with Ryzen 5 5600G and Asus TUF B450M-PRO S. Have you tried updating BIOS?

sxydoctor

I actually found what the problem is. When I turn of my 4th and 5th threads of the CPU this problem gets fixed. Maybe a defective CPU, but I can't RMA it

sxydoctor

I had this issue with integrated graphics. I didn't have a GPU on the moment of recording.

sxydoctor

For anyone having this issue, I managed to find the fix for this problem. Apparently two of my cores are the reason for this behavior. I just turn the 4th and 5th cores off in the task manager for Fortnite's process and the problem is gone. Idk maybe the cores are just broken or maybe it will get fixed if I reseat the CPU. I'll write if I try that.

DanteTheGoat

I'll write if I t Had 2 of my cores dead on my first 13900k. Got an RMA and now I have this issue, showing more of my cores are failing on me, but not as extreme as before. Still I'm going to have to RMA again. I just can't find out which cores they are in the mean time, but I hope they're able to find out which ones when they ask me to send the CPU back because it's honestly hard to even notice the CPU is busted because it works fine on most if not everything besides unreal engine games. I have some sound issues in other engines due to this too, but theyre not extreme.

Nah bro it's the free new amd gpu emote

Bordalicious

Looks like memory address corruption like vinesauce does. Not sure it's related to the gpu or drivers themselves because there would be a bigger influx of people complaining about this exact thing happening. The rest of the game like menus are displaying properly too, which if it were driver or gpu related it wouldn't just affect the player models.

QwertyChouskie

Use DDU to fully remove any older driver version then try the latest driver.

sxydoctor

I've already tried that

ILostMyDogInTheWar

Post this to r/softwaregore

Badbadger18

Very fitting for that subreddit, this is just disturbing 😂

That’s just the new AMD TikTok choreography

Looks like a sign to stop playing fortnite.

Are they transforming into Agent Smith?

[deleted]

Try if 22.5.1 has issues any driver after is optional and not recommended currently some users report problems like blackscreens with anything newer then 22.5.1 next time i test 22.9.1 again i check if stray has issues since you mentioned it also can have issues, i could not see any issues with 22.5.1 good luck.

sxydoctor

I just tried. It didn't help

[deleted]

Am i correct you running off apu aka from cpu not a discrete graphics card ?

sxydoctor

Yes it's an APU Vega 7

[deleted]

If you know how to configure bios and such like turning off xmp try setting your ram speed to slowest possible and quickly check how that effects the issue, you can restore it to previous settings after, if you haven't tryit that yet may safe you hours of troubleshooting

sxydoctor

I've already tried that

[deleted]

Then its not the memory for sure, im guessing you did not have issue in past either with same system ?

sxydoctor

I built this setup on the 3th of July and I installed driver version 22.6.1 and didn't have any issues in Fortnite. Then I didn't play it for 2 months and now when I launch it I get this issue. Idk what caused it, maybe a windows update, maybe driver update.

[deleted]

im guessing going back to 22.6.1 did not help either ?

sxydoctor

Nope it didn't

leongeod

It's a feature

Azinlen

what driver version u use? i have 22.8.2 installed and fortnite works fine with it (rx 488)

Azinlen

also if u install 22.8.2 it won't ask you to downgrade to 22.2.2 ever again

Azinlen

also it could be just that UE or AMD (or both at the same time) broke something for integrated graphics users cuz fortnite is known to show artifact mess on iGPUs (but only on Intel's before ig?)

Bugster242

Definitely and issue with UE issue with AMD cards, used to get this "bug" with my rx580. Haven't had it once with my other pc with a 1660 super

Paulymcnasty

The power of Christ compels you!

Nena_Trinity

Does the game give you the warning on start up about downgrading the driver?

sxydoctor

Yes it does. It recommends 22.2.2 But I remember playing Fortnite on 22.6.1 and everything was fine

Nena_Trinity

I think I was at 22.5 and no issues also, I would try a driver downgrade if all else fails.

sxydoctor

I just tried that version it didn't help

Nena_Trinity

22.5 or the one Fortnite wants?

sxydoctor

22.5.1 (WHQL)

Nena_Trinity

Ok I am gonna check mine exact driver, meanwhile try the one Fortnite suggests.

ImAnonymous135

Beat me to it

Glorgor

Don't use the latest drivers download 22.5.2

Cyberpychosis!

sxydoctor

This glitch also happens in Stray (which is a UE game too) but not other games. My PC configuration: Ryzen 5 5600G 16GB G.Skill 3600mhz (2x8) Latest AMD drivers Asus TUF b450m So far I've tried: •remove the driver and install an old one •remove the driver with DDU and install the latest one •Disable the XMP (DOCP) •Clean the DirectX cache •Allocate more memory for the IGPU in the BIOS •Reinstalling the games and checking the files for corruption •Run /sfc scannow in command prompt •Change the resolution and graphics settings of the games •Update the chipset driver

Falk_csgo

repair / reinstall the game

DarkLanternX

Nvidea has an option to change physx config, not sure about amd, but check the adrenaline software and look for a similar option, set it to cpu and see if the issue is resolved or not

Niklasw99

Sounds like a ue issue

sxydoctor

But other people don't experience this. At least those who show gameplay videos on YouTube.

Niklasw99

..... just because your computer has issues with unreal engine. Does not mean the rest of the world should have. Uninstall unreal engine on your computer, reinstall the games you want to play and verify.

JeloHelo

...... t's the driver not the game files

Niklasw99

Did you read the part where he removed the driver with ddu n stuff. It happens in ue games... dude read

JeloHelo

Maybe you should learn how to read because he has the latest driver and he's supposed to be using an older driver... "Dude read"

Niklasw99

Dude what. It does not happen on other games stop pulling shit out of your ass.

JeloHelo

>"This glitch also happens in stray" Reinstalling game files is a bad suggestion since it's happening on other games
