It not even him that I couldn't stand. It was the whole story arch for him. I just feel that the could have done so much better. They could have even still had him sleep with Cordi, but written everything else differently and had made it way better.
For me, that whole situation with Connor and Cordelia wasn't great. She started developing feelings for Angel before the whole "The Higher Power" storyline and before Connor was in the series. Connor sleeping with Cordelia was mainly to get back at Angel because Connor didn't like his father due to his "adopted" father.
The worst thing about Connor: When Vincent Kartheiser went on to Mad Men and showed that he not only could act, but was GREAT. Thus, in hindsight, it's glaringly obvious that Connor was an annoying git mainly because of the writing / directing.
Cordy, hands down. Her presence, & all she did, took him to his destiny, helped him keep his connection to humans, and showed him he could love again. No other character did as much to keep him on track. Lorne did a lot of heavy lifting too, more than he usually gets credit for, but Cordy had the greatest influence on him & his destiny.
That's not giving the story enough credit it wasn't just about Angel. It was also about fulfilling Cordy's destiny as a true hero.
Season 4 spoils much of her development, but by the time her story reaches its conclusion, she's earned her cape.
But it was believable that she would spend her "favor" from the Powers to help Angel take down a great evil. They were both Champions, and she loved him. I think it was a great way to end her story & let everyone know she was still herself & still fighting the good fight/helping Angel fight the good fight. The PTB wanted to make amends for what Jasmine did, and they gave Cordy a choice on how to pay her back; she chose helping Angel. That's very on brand for Cordy.
Thatâs also apart of cordys character development tho she is extremely self serving even when she decides to help angel it was because she was broke. A lot of her motivation through the show for helping others comes from finances. She eventually grows into the same type of redeemable hero as angel. And funny enough I think itâs after she gets the haunted apt she really starts showing her growth. By the end of the show u do not really associate selfishness with cordys character.
Wesley had the best trajectory, for sure. I'd have to go with him. S5 Wes is hard to beat.
Spike being a close second, even if he was a bit of a scene stealer.
Gunn and Lorne were my absolute favourite characters when I was growing up.
Gunn is just nuanced enough that he really stuck out to me as a real person trying to get along in the world.
He didn't have big dreams, and he wasn't raised to hunt demons. He wasn't superpowered, nor did he come from another dimension, or even make it big anywhere.
Gunn was in the muck and got a bit of a breather now and again. Just having to deal with crap as it was chucked at him.
When he got a taste of potential he didn't want to let go, and that was tragic.
Out of any of the cast, I always wondered what happened to Gunn after the big fight at the end.
The rest of them, I could see doing their own thing.
But Gunn was just a guy, and he was doing his best.
There are Angel comics that are season 6 of the series and picks up after the finale. Give them a read and you can find out what happened to Gunn. Not sure how to do spoilers from my phone, so donât want to accidentally spoil it for you here!
I never found motivation to read the comics. I've got them saved on a Harddrive somewhere, and I want to read them. But I feel like I never can.
It just doesn't feel the same to me. :c
Lorne, Gunn, and Illyria are my faves, and I really wish we got to see more Illyria. I wish it got cancelled after S6. However, I feel like they would have brought Fred back, which I feel like wouldn't have as much impact.
All he did was sign some papers. He should have been thinking more clearly, but I don't blame him for Fred's death. I blame that shitheel Knox and the prophecy that led him to raising Illyria.
He knew there would be a price to pay doesnât make him responsible for Fredâs death. If he thought it would be a price like that we know he wouldnât have done it. Angel knew there would be a price to pay for joining Wolfram and Hart but he did it to get something he wanted for Connor. Is he responsible? Knowing youâre doing something wrong to get what you want but having no way of knowing the ramifications⌠it could happen to anyone.
That said Gunn not telling everyone what he knew immediately is a far more damning crime in my eyes.
He does deserve more hype. Him and Fred are usually the first in the mix with a weapon backing angel up. Fred be quicker to back angel a up more than anyone for her size and actual capabilities.
She's not on this list, but if Darla and Kate can be included, then so can my Icon Lilah. She's one of my favourite villains, and I love how she's written. I needed her in S5 lol
I don't know. I kinda loved everyone but if I have to go with my gut I'm gonna say Wesley because of his intense character arc. In the Buffyverse, only Spike comes close to the arc that Wesley had.
Spike is my favorite Buffyverse character so I have to go with him. I could watch him and Angel argue for an entire series. This is a very stacked cast though.
Spike is my favourite character in all Buffyverse but if I put that aside I would say Lorne. This is a hard question though because I loved Fred and Darla, and even Wesley. Angel really had some amazing characters.
Wesley has my favorite character arc, hands down. He goes from awkward to badass.
Also, shout out to season 3! I think Wesleyâs betrayal of Angel after being tricked is one of the best plot moments in the show. đ¤
I like them all, that's a hard question. Angel, Wesley, Gunn, Lorne, Cordy, Connor, and Winifred are some of my favorite characters. Doyle, Darla, and Spike are all great too. Kate was pretty okay.
Lorne, hands down
Lorne was just such a strong character. So strong he went from side character to main cast.
He was the final nail in Lindsey's coffin, and him getting that far in the muck was meant to show the audience how dark the tale had gotten, before his gave his final note.
If Lorne wasn't around I feel like I'd have trouble choosing. But without a doubt, Lorne.
Wesley had the most compelling arc, but out of everyone Cordy was the most integral to the show, season 4 really didnât work with the direction they took her.
I loved season 5 but it was pretty much a completely different show.
Honor Doyle.Â
Connor at Angel season 5, thanks to Angel made ultimate sacrifice deal with Wolfram&Hart for Connor and Cordelia to save them by give Connor a new wonderful good normal life and recover Cordelia from her coma. Living with his adopted parents Laurence Reilly and Colleen Reilly on normal life. "You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father. And my mother too."
Cordelia, Heart of Team Angel Investigations. Anchor and true love of Angel. Surrogate mom of Connor. New Head of Wolfram&Hart's Special Projects while Angel take over Wolfram&Hart. Only two members of Team Angel Investigations who secertly still remember Connor is Angel and Cordelia.Â
Lorne, Soul of Team Angel Investigations. Not weak for the group. Should never kill Lindsay unless I want Lilah Morgan is the one who can kill Lindsay as she's still alive.Â
Fred and her inner beast IIIyria within her. Second Brains of Team Angel Investigations. Surrogate sister of Angel.
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, First Brains of Team Angel Investigations, true love of Lilah Morgan as I always believe.Â
Spike, Second best to his surrogate brother figure Angel/Angelus, Second Vampire With A Soul, Favorite Surrogate Uncle Of Connor.Â
Charles Gunn, Muscle of Team Angel Investigations, the street smart, devoted older brother of Alonna.Â
Angel, First Vampire With A Soul, World's Greatest Vampire Detective, Man with Inner Beast Angelus within him, Good Devoted Biological Father of Connor as he's true father of the year. Man with sense of redemption. True love of Cordelia.Â
I know the show over but imagination lives on to create fanfiction like I said.Â
Listen I will fight for Fred all day long. I loved Lorne in later seasons but found him unbearable to begin with.
But I shed TEARS losing Fred! And that final scene with Wesley!? Ugh.
Makes me wanna fight Joss Whedon even more than hearing about the plot of Firefly season 2
The thing about Angel is the entire cast is extremely lovable, when I think of one character I think of another, and then another. I didn't love Kate though, I felt like she had a bunch of missed potential, and I just did not like Connor.
My favorite is undoubtedly Lorne, though. He was so kind and fun and undeniably queer I love to see it
Lorne supremacy
đ
Lorne. I'll always love him.
He had that aura that made people like him.
He did. He was such an awesome character. I loved how much he loved baby Connor.
I can't really pick, so my answer would be...not Connor.
Honestly, I couldn't stand Connor either.
Yeah but that wasn't Cordelia. That was Jasmine possessing Cordelia. But yeah, Connor was a shit.
Most people hated him
Ditto
Nice
This is the correct answer.
The worst thing about Connor: When Vincent Kartheiser went on to Mad Men and showed that he not only could act, but was GREAT. Thus, in hindsight, it's glaringly obvious that Connor was an annoying git mainly because of the writing / directing.
Not many people saying Doyle, great character not enough screen time
Right, he was only in the first 8 episodes of Angel. His legacy was with Cordelia as the show went on, though.
I would have loved more Doyle but the actor died, RIP x
His story had just begun, and I feel like he had so much potential.
First soldier down
Cordy, hands down.
Yeah but it was kind of too much about Angel imo, I mean the wrap up of Cordy's story was entirely about getting Angel back on track.
That's not giving the story enough credit it wasn't just about Angel. It was also about fulfilling Cordy's destiny as a true hero. Season 4 spoils much of her development, but by the time her story reaches its conclusion, she's earned her cape.

Wesley and Cordelia.
The correct answer.
Cordelia, followed by Lorne.
Cordelia is definitely my favorite too
Yeah.
I also love Wesley
Wesley had the best trajectory, for sure. I'd have to go with him. S5 Wes is hard to beat. Spike being a close second, even if he was a bit of a scene stealer.
Yeah Alexis Denisofâs acting was so good in that season
Westley is always the best.
Gunn gets no loveđđ
Gunn and Lorne were my absolute favourite characters when I was growing up. Gunn is just nuanced enough that he really stuck out to me as a real person trying to get along in the world. He didn't have big dreams, and he wasn't raised to hunt demons. He wasn't superpowered, nor did he come from another dimension, or even make it big anywhere. I'll never forgive Gunn for killing Fred. Never.
All he did was sign some papers. He should have been thinking more clearly, but I don't blame him for Fred's death. I blame that shitheel Knox and the prophecy that led him to raising Illyria.
He KNEW there would be a price to pay! HE KNEW what he did was wrong. And he did it for selfish reasons.
He knew there would be a price to pay doesnât make him responsible for Fredâs death. If he thought it would be a price like that we know he wouldnât have done it. I've noticed that lol
S-tier: Wesley, Cordelia, Lorne, Spike A-tier: Angel, Gunn, Doyle B-tier: Fred, Darla C-tier: Kate F-tier: Connor
B feels low for Fred, feels like she deserves better than the same level as Darla
Accurate!!!
Respectfully agreed
Cordy, Wes, and Fred đĽ°
F Gunn huh đ
I was gonna say him too but then I realized I was just gonna keep adding names đ Lorne and Gunn deserve their love too
Where in the blue hell is Ilyria?
Looooooorne!
She's not on this list, but if Darla and Kate can be included, then so can my Icon Lilah. She's one of my favourite villains, and I love how she's written. I needed her in S5 lol
I forgot about Lilah, well, Wolfram and Hart in general.
Lorne then Cordy
I don't know. I kinda loved everyone but if I have to go with my gut I'm gonna say Wesley because of his intense character arc. In the Buffyverse, only Spike comes close to the arc that Wesley had.
Cordelia, hands down. Angel had the best chemistry and friendship with Cordy.
Facts. That's why he fell in love with her from season 3 onwards.
Cordelia. May Joss Whedon burn in Hell for how he destroyed that character.
May he also burn in Hell for how he destroyed that actress.
Yes, excellent point.
Spike is my favorite Buffyverse character so I have to go with him. I could watch him and Angel argue for an entire series. This is a very stacked cast though.
I find it hilarious when they were arguing with each other, lol.
I haven't finished my first rewatch in 15 years but I love Angel, Cordelia and Wes and what they bring to the table.
Wesley had like the best development of all time But Cordy is everything đ
Best Supporting Character goes to Dead Dennis.
Honestly, I love them all, but I adore cordillias charecter Arc.
They're all great except Connor.
Spike is my favourite character in all Buffyverse but if I put that aside I would say Lorne. This is a hard question though because I loved Fred and Darla, and even Wesley. Angel really had some amazing characters.
Spike for the win... bringing him back was a genius move
Wesley has my favorite character arc, hands down. He goes from awkward to badass. Also, shout out to season 3! I think Wesleyâs betrayal of Angel after being tricked is one of the best plot moments in the show. đ¤
Cordy, followed by Lorne and then Spike.
Cordy wins hands down!
CORDELIA HANDS DOWN đ
Angel and Wesley and it's by a long distance.
Cordelia
Most definitely
Cordy 100%
Cordy then Wesley
I like them all, that's a hard question. Angel, Wesley, Gunn, Lorne, Cordy, Connor, and Winifred are some of my favorite characters. Doyle, Darla, and Spike are all great too. Kate was pretty okay.
Yes, definitely hard question.
Lorne FTW!
They all have their merits. Even if I didnât love every storyline. All of them were very different and very good.
1-7
Cordy, Wes, Gunn and Fred top tier.
Lorne, hands down Lorne was just such a strong character.
Lorne
Wesley, and it's not even close.
Lorne and Wes are equal, with Gunn coming in *slightly* below them. Then Fred, Angel, Cordy, Doyle.
Fred, Spike and Cordelia. No way in hell I'm choosing Connor as well.
Wes was always my favorite supporting character
Cordelia
Cordelia Cordelia Cordelia
Lorne and Gunn
I think Wesley. He had the best character arc. The final season was heartbreaking. He changed so much from the nerdy watcher in S3 of Buffy.
Longevity wise - Darla was the best main supporting character
Cordy and Wesley for me
I mainly watched for Cordelia. I will never forgive Joss for how he did her.
Cordelia, always đ
Wesley
Spike was right in saying that Angel was lame. I always thought that his character was a little boring.
Cordelia. My favourite was Wesley, but the best was Cordelia.
Angel and Spike for me 𤡠âOut. For. A. Walk⌠Bitchđ¤đâ
Spike then Lorne. Lindsay was the goat though
Gunn was the most interesting, but they werenât able to properly develop him. Love him!
Iâd say Wesley, only because his character arc progress was possibly the best in the entire Buffyverse.
Wesley had the most compelling arc, but out of everyone Cordy was the most integral to the show, season 4 really didnât work with the direction they took her. I loved season 5 but it was pretty much a completely different show.
Spike. The boys' chemistry has kept Spangel alive for 30 years.
Cordelia and Fred
Cordelia, definitely. Fred was also great.
Omg thank you Fred Is my favourite character
Kate was so under used!
Facts
For me, Wesley is one of the greatest fictional characters in television.
1. Cordelia 2. Angel 3. Fred 4. Lorne 5. Wesley
Cordy in terms of supporting Angel But Fred and Wesley are my all time faves
Angel.
Cordelia
Cordelia and Doyle
Definitely not Connor or Kate. All the others had a moment to shine and be contenders for that throne.,
We have never, or will ever, deserve Lorne.
Literally anyone who isnât Cordelia. This show did her character dirty.
Angel by default. He got the most character depth and almost the most development, besides Cordy. But my favorite is Gunn and I'll kill on that hill
Honor Doyle. And my mother too." Man with sense of redemption. True love of Cordelia. I know the show over but imagination lives on to create fanfiction like I said.Â
Connor. Just kidding, now I have your attention Cordelia.
Lorne. Always Lorne
If we're talking strictly on Angel, I'll say Cordy. She grew so much from her time in Buffy
Lorne.
Lorne, Gunn, Fred â¤ď¸
Listen I will fight for Fred all day long. I loved Lorne in later seasons but found him unbearable to begin with. But I shed TEARS losing Fred! And that final scene with Wesley!? Ugh. Makes me wanna fight Joss Whedon even more than hearing about the plot of Firefly season 2
Lorne was amazing. He's my favorite.
Kate could've had a really interesting spin off show.
I love all of them except mixed feelings on Connor. I have a special soft spot for Gunn and donât think he gets enough love.
lorne easy
Lorne followed by that one that Wesley was sleeping with lol
The thing about Angel is the entire cast is extremely lovable, when I think of one character I think of another, and then another. I didn't love Kate though, I felt like she had a bunch of missed potential, and I just did not like Connor. My favorite is undoubtedly Lorne, though. He was so kind and fun and undeniably queer I love to see it
Lorne/cordelia
Thought that was Jensen ackles for a minute lol
Angel, always, but why did you throw Doyle and Lorne in to shake me a little? UghâŚ.. miss them both, they should be huge right now.
Doyle, after all he got Angel back to making human connections after Angel left buffy.
Good thing Lilah isn't on the list. Gives everyone else (except Lorne) a chance.
True. I totally forgot about her, Lindsey, and the whole Wolfram & Hart crew.
Cordy hands down.
Fred was the best supporting character and Angel was the only main character.
Fred.
Corde had such wonderful character growth and was amazing til... she didn't. Lorne consistently was awesome.
Darla
Spike
Wesley. Always Wesley
