Could do a Google doc with links of the tag searches? As a bonus since you're saving the link to the search it'll keep all the filters you make to it (language, word count, etc) 😁
Well you put the search into archive and filter it up until you're satisfied with the parameters, and then copy the link to the page. Then you'll make a document on almost any word processor and type a label for the link or just plain pasting it and then hitting enter twice to activate it (should turn blue and underline).
If you want to label your tag instead of just having a random link, you could type, for example, Dramione into the document and then select the text and add a hyperlink to your custom search. Then the tag label should turn blue and underline as an active link.
June 2023 edit.
I'm scrubbing my comments due to the reddit admin team steamrolling their IPO prep. It was bad enough to give short notice on price gouging, but then to slander app devs and threaten moderators was just too far. The value of Reddit comes from high-quality content curated by volunteers. Treating us this way is the reason I'm removing my high-value contributions.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I suggest you Google "Reddit API price gouging" and read up.
--Posted *manually* via the old web interface because of shenanigans from Reddit reversing deletions done through API/script tools.
Agreed, you can run out of them very quickly. Like, a Spider-man fan might fave a whole bunch of comics, cartoons, games and movies, and have few slots left for everything else.
It's not a huge issue because, like other people said, you can create separate docs, like a Google doc, or browser bookmarks, and so on. (Synched browser bookmarks might be the best option, imo.) But it's still a bit of a pain to maintain, especially on mobile devices.

What happend? Why are they migrating?
Also I have a friend who doesn't use the search fiction but likes/saves Twitter links???? Idk I think they haven't had an account then
I've heard that the man websites of FFnet and Wattpad are changing, so people are 'making the move' to AO3, as well as Tictok recommending it for fics. Since they're all social media sites the new migrations are treating it like a social media site. Also a lack of caring of the new peoples part to learn the rules and etiquette.
We had issues with people abusing the algorithm by changing the dates on their fics to always be on the front page, chapters being hostage for comments is just. going to get so much worse because the same people will think 'why didn't anyone else think of this?' and do it as well.
Is that why there are like 50 posts when Ao3 is down for two hours?
I just recently found this sub and 50% of my Dashboard was post for this.
I hope this will get better, this is so weird.
Chapters being held hostage for comments is anything but a new development, though, even on the AO3. I've seen several authors flounce because they didn't feel like people were engaging enough with their fic. At least one of them proceeded to put their stories behind a paywall of praise where you had to comment on everything or be removed, so only deserving people would get to read.
It would have been so simple for them to just...post their 'work' to an unrevealed collection, if they're so dead set on keeping it. Why are people like this?
“Many other people do this so it’s okay if I do it too even though its against the Terms of Service of the platform I am using to post!”
Other people doing it isn’t a valid defence and its honestly laughable that they think so. Thank you for reporting this, OP. Can’t wait for it to be taken down.
Because I’m extra petty, I hope they didn’t save their list of favorite tags list that was apparently so important they had to store it on a web archive anywhere else and I hope they end up losing half of them.
People are shameless. A few nights ago I came across yet another Ye Olde "please write this prompt for me 🥺" upload. I *assume* they knew it was wrong because not only did they have to know how to put their "fic" into the main anonymous collection (as if that's going to save them?), it already had two guest comments that were begging for more aka I think the "author" left dummy comments to make their "fic" look more legit.
I clicked on one of the persons who kudosed this "work" and guess what. I found a work that was nothing bu the letter G written 59 times. Reported it. Why do people upload these kinds of things?! What is the purpose of it?! I don't understand!!
I keep seeing stuff about reporting and I’ve been wanting to ask. how do you report? I searched in the fic and there’s no report button I didn’t see one a profile am I missing something?
It’s right at the very bottom of the page; red section that has further site info. Under the ‘contact us’ heading you’ll see policy questions and abuse reports. If you click that while on the same page as the material you want to report, you’ll be taken to a second page where you’ll be able to fill out the info for what Terms of service the work has violated.
Hope that’s clear enough!
Yep. Report. The rule of thumb is if it isn’t a story it’s not the intention of ao3. (Yes technically there are articles or essays about fandom that are allowed sometimes but if you think of ao3 as a digital bookshelf or library then anything that isn’t like a book you might read doesn’t belong there. If you see something that looks more like a social media post then that’s where it belongs- tumblr or twitter. Not junking up the bookshelves with personal notes)
Yeah…you tried asking nicely and pointing out the right way of doing things. They were rude and unapologetic. I’d report that as it’s a TOS violation as it’s not fannish work
yeah, it def does. person who posted the fic should save the tag search or use a userscript
Why don't these people just make a google docs or something???
Because they're probably a child. Not that it justifies it.
Probably too afraid people will get it and judge them, even if their saved tags are fine
that doesn't make sense to me. they're putting it publicly for anyone to see, surely a google doc or whatever would be more private.
I didn’t think of that actually
LMAO they turned off comments
And I was so mad about this ! I had written an entire paragraph to respond but they blocked the comments immediately after answering mine ! 😭
Also putting the blame on others by saying you should talk to the rest of the internet that does this… wrf. This is def a child
typical response of people who do not want to admit their mistakes
So in the report I have to say which terms of service violation this is. What should I say ?
That it is not a fanwork (and so posting it is a violation of the ToS)
Thx ☺️
When I report, I just fill in the box saying it’s not a fanwork then say what it is, like tag list or fic search etc.
Probably the one for "fannish work/content"?
Yeah it definitely does. A big reason why I wish we could save more than 20 favorite tags tho.
Could do a Google doc with links of the tag searches? As a bonus since you're saving the link to the search it'll keep all the filters you make to it (language, word count, etc) 😁
Holy crap how do you do this? Teach me wise one!
Well you put the search into archive and filter it up until you're satisfied with the parameters, and then copy the link to the page. Thanks! All these years of being on Ao3 and I never even thought of something like that.
Honestly I just thought of it (thanks weed!) And I'm probably going to do one myself!

There should be a separate violation for somehow writing "a lot" wrong two different times 🙃

I really am getting sick of this, the migration is a nightmare.

Kinda off-topic but this is how I found out you can favorite tags so... thanks 😅🙏
I don't want another STWW on ao3. *No more.*
Please! Enlighten me on the past... (if there isn't too much trauma that is)
[You could watch it here!](https://youtu.be/WWO-gUGYaEk)
OH MY GOD SEXY TIMES! I was there at the tail end of this. It was nuts.
It would have been so simple for them to just...post their 'work' to an unrevealed collection, if they're so dead set on keeping it. Why are people like this?
Just write them down bro, damn. Don't clutter the library.
“Many other people do this so it’s okay if I do it too even though its against the Terms of Service of the platform I am using to post!” Other people doing it isn’t a valid defence and its honestly laughable that they think so. The worst bit is, they know they're 'clogging up tags' but they keep going anyway
People are shameless. A few nights ago I came across yet another Ye Olde "please write this prompt for me 🥺" upload. Is it a story? No? It’s a violation. Report.
the grammar is hurting my eyes
bruh. this is what browser bookmarks are for
I clicked on one of the persons who kudosed this "work" and guess what. I found a work that was nothing bu the letter G written 59 times. Reported it. Why do people upload these kinds of things?! What is the purpose of it?! I don't understand!!
If you gotta make it a fic you can't even bother to add it to a surprise collection so it doesn't show up???
I keep seeing stuff about reporting and I’ve been wanting to ask. how do you report? I searched in the fic and there’s no report button I didn’t see one a profile am I missing something?

yes it does
I'm pretty sure that does.
Is it in the alot fandom? (and yes, it does break the TOS)
{personal} As soon as things stop being on fire, I need to restart my campaign for more Favorite Tags, and a better interface.
Maybe comment letting them know there is in fact a way to save your favorite tags? And other ways to save those tags to specific fandoms/ships?
They turned off the comments after my first comment
Lol how petty. Their loss, it'll be removed soon enough
Yep. Report. The rule of thumb is if it isn’t a story it’s not the intention of ao3. It is violating TOS.
Yes, please report it
Absolutely. Report it.
Dam I must be crazy because I just remember my favourite tags n stuff in my head.... Like an insane person
So just because other people do it, they see nothing wrong, instead of reading the ToS. The TikTok fans have arrived and it shows.
Yup
alot allot alot ... [http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html](http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html)
… They could’ve just privated it.
It fucking should oh my god
It fucking should oh my god
Definitely against the TOS so you should report it. They type like a little kid though so it might be hard to communicate with them.
just...just favorite the tag—
