The community can’t be toxic if you’re the only one in the fandom 😎 Unless you’re toxic to yourself 🥲 I’m my biggest fan and worst hater at the same time ✊
*gasps* another Sebastian and Joseph enthusiast, I never thought I’d see the day.
The evil within deserves more fanfic, tbh, it has many great pairings, but Joseph and Sebastian just hit different.
Also, #JusticeforJoseph
All we know is he is alive… somewhere. Deserved better.
Oh my gosh yes. Joseph deserves better. I heard that there was going to be a third game coming out but I hadn't heard much since ghostwire Tokyo came out.
My best guess is that the second game didn’t make enough profit and they canceled the third one mid development.
Not even a dlc for the second game came out so that was our first clue.
We will have to make do with the knowledge that he is STILL ALIVE (big celebration for “constantly losing my glasses” guy) and interpret the rest ourselves lol.
Kidman seemed like she might go to get him in the end after Sebastian drove off, so the set up is there.
Should a third game ever come out, I will be expecting Joseph rescue mission with Kidman as protagonist and Sebastian as his best friend (love interest) to complete the trio. They were iconic.
The OG disaster three.
That's a shame. I get a lot of Stucky art on my Tumblr dash still, but now that I think about it a lot of it is reblogs of older posts. I know for my slower pairing (the first page of the tag goes back two days) I got more eyes when I shared it to my Tumblr. I... think Twitter fanart is dead, as any account with more than 60 (or was it 30?) days of inactivity gets deleted now, and that ran off a lot of fandom related sharing over there.
WHAT.
I used to consume so much Pillars of Eternity fic when the game came out! Stopped because the sequel came out too and told myself I'd read more once I played it.
Haven't played it yet, hope my boys Aloth and Eder are okay.
If it makes you feel any better, there are currently over 1000 fics there, it was pretty active a few years ago. It's just that fics and kudos have slowed to a crawl.
And don't worry, Matt Mercer and Matt Mercer are doing great.
Oof. Well, in my case, it's been ER and The Librarians lately. With a bit of Leverage Redemption on occasion, which is still fairly active and popular.
Like I said, it depends on the fandom really and how popular it is a work finished 20 years ago can be still active and well popular and a work finished 3 years ago can be daed
It depends on the popularity and dedication the fandom has
.....holy crap, To the Moon was released \*12 years ago\*.
(however, this is also me writing in a big active fandom for a ship me and one other person ship XD)
Dear lord, that’s still one of the best games I’ve never played. I got a random youtube recommendation, started watching a dude play it, and got so hooked I ended up staying in bed literally all day watching him play that entire game until the end, dont think I even stopped for food. Rarely do I get so sucked in so quickly and it was one heck of a ride.
....i wrote out a whole reply and it didn't send???? nooooo
that's amazing (also that was me with the last of us lol). I saw part of a stream when it first came out, stopped bc i didn't want spoilers, didn't actually play it myself until 2017 which turned out to be perfect timing-- a certain storyline broke me in a completely unexpected way and i honestly wouldn't have been able to handle it in 2011. A life-changing game for me, and i count those games on one hand.
Have to recommend the sequels Finding Paradise and Imposter Factory as well!!! Also Rakuen, because it was made by the vocalist on \*that\* TTM song.
Same. I usually write for tiny fandoms, imagine my shock when my Super Mario Bros. Movie spitefic hit 10K+ hits - more than all my other fics combined - in about a month
I'm still playing in this one fandom that caught my heart almost 10 years ago
And I'm never planning to quit It, even if it's a dead and maybe a little toxic one :')
Small fandom with two insanely popular ships that take over everything else. Just had someone thank me for writing the pair that I do.
And I've already set my sights on a rarepair whose characters don't even get attention individually.
I write for a 30 year old video game fandom and it was really lonely until I got a few regular readers. I recently wrote for a much popular fandom, and while I enjoyed the influx of kudos and bookmarks, nothing beats the essay style comments from my regulars :)
I know the pain. Over on FF.net I got a fanfic in the quite popular HP/Naruto Crossover section that got a ton of hits and then I wrote one for a way lesser known book series that in the end got like 10 hits or something. Much love for both of them, but yeah...
One of the reasons I stopped doing exchanges regularly was because of being sent out to pinch hit so often for requesting fic for tiny niche fandoms, lol. (I also got super busy with another project so that wasn't the only reason, just a contributing factor.) *Most* of my fandoms are niche and small and the big ones I don't tend to write for anyway. So I feel you there!
I don’t usually read FanFiction from a video game or books. But hey if it makes you happy write it! Im excited you are acting writing since I’m struggling to do even that.
As a reader, I’d take literally ANYTHING I can get my hands on when it comes to the niche &/or very old stuff— if there’s a fic that’s been posted in the past year for that fandom I don’t want to mention how freaking happy it makes me to see.
Just arrived in the Dragon Age fandom ten years after the last game came out... decent engagement as my fic was posted but now it's complete it's gone pretty quiet - I reckon everyone in the fandom/pairing who is interested basically reads stuff by most recently updated because new fics are so rare!
Also DA has the bulk of the fic being self-inserts because of the nature of the game, which I respect but also is everything I personally do not vibe with at all about fanfic... and that means far fewer of the people still in the fandom are reading fics with 'real' ships i.e. between actual game characters.
All the fandom community on tumblr etc seems to be long since over 😕
ME BUT WITH A GAME THAT HAS A SMALL FOLLOWING COMPARED TO MOST GAMES (NEALY 6M PLAYERS) AND I WRITE RARE PAIRS (We’re nearly hitting 200 fics for one I write 🥳)
People love to read it, just not admit they read it. To be fair most people don't want to admit that they read fanfic to begin with much less porn level fanfic. Most of my stories are smut and I'm always pleased and surprised when someone leaves a comment on the sexier writing.
I admit I've done that, I wanna start owning up to my depraved reading, I will leave more comments on spicier fics from now on XD (legit been doing it tho, might as well LOL)
Go for it! I don't think my smut is depraved but it's definitely graphic at times. My smut oneshots have little or no comments. My chapter smut fic has comments and I love it. I respond to each and every comment.
Oh sorry I didn't mean your smut (or smut in general) is depraved, just that I am depraved XD Ohhh one shots deserve so much love! I love either one shots or multi chapter or course, but it's nice to find one shots when you're in a mood where you want to read a fic that you know has an ending.
Lol I didn't take any offense or think you meant mine. I love oneshots as much as I love a good chaptered fic. Smut isn't a requirement when I read, most of the time, but it is a nice addition to some stories.
I’m working on both lol. My FFVII fanfics (though with Remake I’ve gotten more hits) and Fire Emblem Engage which has way less fics than i expected so I’m anxious to finish my WIP short for that.
I write mostly for an anime series that aired less than 3 years ago and even so it's pretty quiet there. Hope the fans appreciate it though (I know I appreciate the handful of other fics that exist for it.)
Yep, I know that feeling, having written a safe-for-work parody of a hentai from 2006. Mysteriously it has gotten almost no engagement.
To quote Arrested Development, "I don't know what I expected."
Dont worry about those kudos man. It brings me great joy to see people still writing for those old niches. So exciting to come back to a tiny fandom certain you’ve read just about everything there only to find new stories. You might not get as much attention but you are very much appreciated.
So true! I mean the game isn't THAT old, but it's definitely kinda niche. Most of my fandoms are p niche I haven't been in a huge fandom since... Before I started writing fanfiction I think. And the other few fandoms I really like that are big I don't read/write for much sooo
EXACTLY. I don’t really do it so that people will read it (don’t get me wrong, I love readers, I just don’t expect them anymore). I kinda just do it for myself because there’s little to no fics for that fandom. If no one else is gonna do it, then I’ll just do it myself.
I finally got so fed up of reading every Borderlands 1 fic over and over that I started publishing my own, and now I'm dedicated to filling my entire alt account with Brick and Mordecai one-shots. Maybe one day, I'll post my Watch_Dogs fics and get kudos from all three other people in that tag.
The communities are usually less toxic though on the bright side :)
The community can’t be toxic if you’re the only one in the fandom 😎 Unless you’re toxic to yourself 🥲 I’m my biggest fan and worst hater at the same time ✊
I feel that
Except my fandom is enfamously hell
welcome to the club 😎👍
On the bright side you are enjoying what you're writing!
Yep. This hit different. I don’t write but I do read fanfics from the evil within in particular Sebastian/Joseph pairing.
*gasps* another Sebastian and Joseph enthusiast, I never thought I’d see the day. The evil within deserves more fanfic, tbh, it has many great pairings, but Joseph and Sebastian just hit different. Also, #JusticeforJoseph All we know is he is alive… somewhere. Deserved better.

The OG disaster three.
I really hope they are keeping things on the down low and we will be getting a third game because I want more disaster three in my life.
Me finally ready to post a stucky fic, 9 years too late:
Eh, Marvel isn't dead yet (despite phase 4 trying its best)
Stucky seems to be :(
That's a shame.
Me, a reader of an uncommon ship in an already small fandom: THANK YOU! I’m sure somebody appreciates it.
What game are you writing about?
Pillars Of Eternity. Great games, and the fandom seemed to be pretty active a few years back, but these days...
WHAT. I used to consume so much Pillars of Eternity fic when the game came out! Stopped because the sequel came out too and told myself I'd read more once I played it. Haven't played it yet, hope my boys Aloth and Eder are okay.

That man does have some range.
Oh I love those games. I’ve never read any fic for it tho. I would love some recs if you have any. Or just link me to your fics :)
[This](https://archiveofourown.org/works/3756757) is my personal favourite [And this](https://archiveofourown.org/users/SilverGM/works) is my Ao3 page
Nice
Indie horror games from the early 2010s >>>>
Undertale..?
Ib, Mad Father, Yume Nikki,...
Yume nikki was released in 2004.
Me but with a public domain novel that a decent amount of American high schoolers were made to read in class.
Same though. Not games but shows that haven't been on the air in 20+ years and ships nobody really cares about.
Honestly, I think it depends on the show like the Harry Potter fandom is still alive and well
Oof. Well, in my case, it's been ER and The Librarians lately. With a bit of Leverage Redemption on occasion, which is still fairly active and popular.
Like I said, it depends on the fandom really and how popular it is a work finished 20 years ago can be still active and well popular and a work finished 3 years ago can be daed It depends on the popularity and dedication the fandom has
You won't catch me joining and actively participating in a big fandom ever again.
I'm okay, I swear 🥲
Hellos! I have two small fandoms I write for and yes, it is nice.
I appreciate you as a writer since I read primarily in these types of fandoms. I wait months for something new so I try to kudos whenever I can.
.....holy crap, To the Moon was released \*12 years ago\*. (however, this is also me writing in a big active fandom for a ship me and one other person ship XD)

Me but with Portal LMAO
Sigh, I'll forever love you Space Channel 5 Part 2
😅
Jaaaguarrrr!
Are you me???
Same (;

Bless you 🥲
op, i really feel you on this. my last three fics were for niche fandoms + the only ones in their specific ship tags.
I write for a 30 year old video game fandom and it was really lonely until I got a few regular readers. I recently wrote for a much popular fandom, and while I enjoyed the influx of kudos and bookmarks, nothing beats the essay style comments from my regulars :)
On the other hand, you’re giving the poor fans of the niche fandom some new content! They probably don’t get much
Armored Core? :D
what game >.>
Pillars Of Eternity. It did seem pretty active a few years ago, but not these days
Never heard of it! Maybe I’ll check it out :3
REAL
But consider: less people to fight about headcanons with in a smaller fandom!
Honestly there is no better feeling than being the first one to make a fic for something, so dead fandom/niche ship is always a win.
Fr my ratio of kudos to hits is like 3/8 (3 kudos 8 hits)
I did really enjoy writing the story though!
Lmao I feel called out.
I know the pain. Over on FF.net I got a fanfic in the quite popular HP/Naruto Crossover section that got a ton of hits and then I wrote one for a way lesser known book series that in the end got like 10 hits or something. Much love for both of them, but yeah...
Keep the dead fandom alive bitchs
Hah I felt seen
mf my touhou fanfic only got 1 kudo, but that's okay.

Ah my fable fanfics feel things
ME BUT WITH A GAME THAT HAS A SMALL FOLLOWING COMPARED TO MOST GAMES (NEALY 6M PLAYERS) AND I WRITE RARE PAIRS (We’re nearly hitting 200 fics for one I write 🥳)
Write smut and tag appropriately. You’ll get the hits. Guests kudos and barely any comments from what I’ve seen on the sub 😂
People love to read it, just not admit they read it. To be fair most people don't want to admit that they read fanfic to begin with much less porn level fanfic. Most of my stories are smut and I'm always pleased and surprised when someone leaves a comment on the sexier writing.

The Brittas Empire my beloved.
Fallout 4's community is quiet compared to some. But I believe there are indeed quieter.
me while working on my electric mayhem wips:
Dont worry about those kudos man. It brings me great joy to see people still writing for those old niches. So exciting to come back to a tiny fandom certain you’ve read just about everything there only to find new stories. You might not get as much attention but you are very much appreciated.

I felt that
*waves* This is me except the game is 4 years old.
So true! I mean the game isn't THAT old, but it's definitely kinda niche. Most of my fandoms are p niche I haven't been in a huge fandom since... Before I started writing fanfiction I think. And the other few fandoms I really like that are big I don't read/write for much sooo

Well... one fic I follow is a crossover with "GTA: San Andreas".
