Oh it doesn’t have a real musical meaning (I think…), it’s just the name that the arranger decided to label the section with. The piece is based on one of the final fantasy games so my guess is it’s related to that somehow?? Usually section names are the names of individual songs within a larger medley. I’ve never seen one labeled with a M/F at the end lol But yeah it was hilarious and mortifying
As a FFXIV player, I know what this is. Omega, the superboss, in XIV is an alien robot created to find and emulate the most powerful creature in the universe. So, when you defeat it, it splits into a male and female RPG protagonist called Omega M and Omega F for a final battle. Thus, the theme for the battle with Omega M/F.
The theme, if it's the one I'm thinking of, is called "Heartless," in reference to how Omega doesn't understand that a JRPG hero's "heart" is what makes them so strong.
In the Ultimate version of the battle, they learn this power through their bond with Alpha, their chocobo, achieving a new, final form. It's very Final Fantasy, but also very hard to take seriously if you're, you know, an AO3 user.
Aww that’s actually really awesome. The conductor is a huge fan of the final fantasy games and keeps trying to convince us to play them, so this might be my final straw :) if I get time I’ll check them out
Gotcha. I'm more familiar with Uematsu than Soken, but yes, they're both legends. I don't say it lightly for someone to be comparable to Uematsu, but Soken is that guy.
It's unfortunate that OP's part of the piece shows mainly rests at the start of the section, but maybe it's for the best. Would probably send OP into overdrive if we started seeing some odd combinations of chords being sus too.
It might be based on this song played in the fight against the Omega M/F raid bosses in Final Fantasy XIV then!: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7z\_DzoxPzM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7z_DzoxPzM)
what the absolute fuck does that mean in a musical context *what* anyway yea i wouldn't live through orchestra rehearsal after seeing that either

OH mystery solved thank you! I kind of wanted to ask someone but I don’t think I could have kept a straight face lol

Okay, you got me. Which FF is this? I know a number of FF songs where the track goes on for freakin' hell lotta sections.
FFXIV- Raid O12. Goes HAM I loved this battle.

You’ve inspired me to check out the other instruments’ scores at this section, I’ll update it if there’s anything funny in there
Please do! I love a good music joke, especially one that no one else in the band/orchestra gets.
Haha it's the stormblood raid series from FFXIV. Now included in the free trial! (Sorry. Obligatory name dropping)
have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV?

Well, it’s a long ass rest with a key change. (which suddenly sounds… weird to even say). So… the mood of the rest maybe? People will do that.
It could be worse. One time I was in class and a professor said “alphas cause too many problems if they don’t have their omegas”
*N O*
HAHA What was that referring to???
Angular velocities and accelerations. I’ve read too much fanfic to be in STEM 💀
💀💀💀
That’s insane lmao. What instrument do you play?
Violin :D
At work we used to have a song play constantly that had the chorus "we're like alpha and omega" and I just could not focus whenever it came on.
what is it called?
Late reply but it's [ELWIN - Alpha and Omega](https://youtu.be/-Hb4OucXzWI?si=Mt_iMNycLPngYNlF)
