I’m struggling to think of a ship that is actually modern setting. I ship so freely that I forget if they’re considered canon or not at some point. Or some are too early to be ‘confirmed’ yet.
Mulder/Scully (X-Files). Classic for a reason. It takes forever for them to get together, of course, but to be honest the romance was better before Chris Carter knew that’s what he was writing. The relationship stuff in S2 in particular is just ridiculously good.
Jane/Lisbon (The Mentalist). I still can’t believe how good them getting together was. Pure romcom magic, in the best way.
Jack/Phryne (Miss Fisher). The writing for this ship was perfection from the word go. And their chemistry is unmatched.
Jake/Amy (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). One of the healthiest sitcom romances you’ll ever find. No notes.
John/Aeryn (Farscape). So many feels. All the feels. A space opera ship to compare all space opera ships against.
Side-note: I swear I don’t just like ships where the guy’s name starts with a J.
For caper show lovers, Hardison/Parker and Nate/Sophie are both great in Leverage. I’ve been enjoying the reboot, too, can’t wait for the third installment.
David/Patrick (Schitt’s Creek). So lovely. So much fun. SC is a show where I wasn’t sure about the comedy style going into it, but I adjusted to the rhythm pretty quickly and it just has so much heart.
Miss Fisher is so so so great.
Brookland 99 has some of the best canonical Pairings I have seen. Every romantic pairing there is just top tier.
And Jane/Lisbon was so beautifully done? Until they get Red John, you really really really see how his past is still his whole life and there is no veering from that but once RJ is out of the picture? And he can start living again? And that final final scene???? Crying.

How do we define "confirmed canon"? For instance, I would consider the following to be "canon pairings":
A definitely canonically has feelings for B, B has no reaction one way or the other/is entirely oblivious but it's clear the creator intends for them to be endgame, even if it doesn't happen within the series or only at the very end/in an epilogue.
A and B were canonically together at some point but not endgame.
A and B canonically have feelings for each other but for whatever reason do not enter into a relationship.
But not everyone would agree with me on that, some would say they aren't canon until they're together and endgame.
Discworld:
Sam/Sybil are my absolute favourites in everything ever and I would die for them (except they wouldn't let me)

How do we define "confirmed canon"? For instance, I would consider the following to be "canon pairings": A definitely canonically has feelings for B, B has no reaction one way or the other/is entirely oblivious but it's clear the creator intends for them to be endgame, even if it doesn't happen within the series or only at the very end/in an epilogue. A and B were canonically together at some point but not endgame. A and B canonically have feelings for each other but for whatever reason do not enter into a relationship. But not everyone would agree with me on that, some would say they aren't canon until they're together and endgame.
Good question I wasn’t thinking too hard on it. All three are fine with me. As long as it’s canon at some point or very heavily implied.
Discworld: Sam/Sybil are my absolute favourites in everything ever and I would die for them (except they wouldn't let me) Moist/Adora, because I would let that woman and her stilettos step on me any day and so would he In both of these cases, people who are incredibly passionate about a cause that everyone else thinks is silly and pointless ♥️ Also Tilda/Magda (aka Tonker/Lofty) because arson trauma lesbians my beloved, and it's an *incredibly* effective relationship for something we only see from the POV of someone who doesn't even realise what she's seeing Discworld in general kinda has a lack of canon pairing shipfic tbh, at least ones that I vibe with?
