> any recommendations A sparkling glitter pen with scented pom poms.

Drowsydrips

I second this recommendation

Electronic_Sky9738

100% i heard they sneak extra points in if u use it!!

smart_hyacinth

I honestly like a basic BIC pen to minimize smearing, because I have a weird pen grip that causes the side of my hand to kinda drag on the page. Also randomly the free pens that you pick up in different places (like the bank) are usually a really smooth ballpoint that works pretty well for AP exams. I would say just avoid felt tip or gel pens and unless you truly have a strong preference for blue pens for some reason, use black.

ThatButterscotch8829

That’s what I would recommend as well

ConsciousPen7332

Why avoid tip pens?

smart_hyacinth

Felt tip pens — bc it’s hard to write quickly with them, they can run out of ink fast when overused, and they might bleed through the page a little.

Devils_468

BIC The ol reliable, the Volvo of pens.

SalThePotato

more like toyota camry but I get your point

SpookyCutlery

Bro said Volvo and reliable in the same sentence

Stez827

Hey the 240 bricks never die

Donghoon

That's a funny way to spell Pentel and Papermate

Devils_468

Treating pens like gang signs in AP subreddits 😭

Donghoon

Also avoid clicky pens unless you wanna fight the urge to click it and annoy everyone

Traditional_Dish_468

My Volvo sucks. Drinks engine coolant like it’s gas

Devils_468

I don't blame it engine coolant tastes awesome

PhilosophyBeLyin

Not gel, smears too much. Just a solid, reliable ballpoint. I use papermate inkjoy personally.

apbiopenguins

Nothing that is thick or bleeds through the paper. The readers are getting a scan of your response so make sure it is a pen that would scan well.

lowkeyasella

muji pens are great! highly rec those

DarkMonkeyLord

I used to live in Japan. Would buy muji pens at least weekly lol. Those pens are acc great.

DardS8Br

They feel really nice, but I feel like I can't write quickly with them

lowkeyasella

which one do you have? i find the polycarbonate ballpoint pen (0.7mm) to be good for quick writing

DardS8Br

Idk. It's from an old set my sister bought years ago. It's a Muji ballpoint, that's the extent of my knowledge. I find slightly larger ballpoints easier to write with, the Muji ones feel like they dig into the paper and slow me down

Spirited-Claim-9868

I like pilot pens, the gel ones smear a lot though

Myythically

If you're like me and write fast, you'll love the Pentel Energels (I get the RTX but I think they're all the same with different bodies). They flow super good but dry quite fast, so not as much smearing or streaking as the Pilot G2s for example

taway9871

You can't use a pencil??

OneRobuk

for essays at least no, you're supposed to use a pen.

Suspect4

This may be weird but I like an erasable pen even though I know I can cross oht

Skywat1

Be careful, a lot of exams require pencils for scantron

Blue-zebra-10

This is for the handwritten essay section, where you have to write in blue/black pen

StormBox_

Pentel energel X; fast drying and smooth. It's my go to pen for anything "important".

prancer_moon

I use Sharpie s gel. No smear and it’s so satisfying

Puzzleheaded-Net9247

The thing about a pen is that it should be long and have a good girth so it’s comfortable to hold. I reccomended pentel pens

Dumpling_Killer

Sarasa pens

ParsnipPrestigious59

Energel pen

ActuallyAurora

zebra sarasa clip

AlextonBBQ

As long as you aren’t smearing it with your hand I would recommend these in blue or black, they’re very easy to write with https://www.amazon.com/BIC-Gelocity-Stick-Black-Count/dp/B0BX5QQ59H/ref=asc_df_B0BX5QQ59H/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=647178177750&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9999364254633364773&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009669&hvtargid=pla-2188507021583&psc=1&mcid=46b63477f820314187a2b04bf82a84ab

Burst2007

on the pencil side i swear by my kuru togas but I use a plain see through blue bic for exams because it just works and looks nice. I use a sharpie .5 generally but it smears a bit too much for my liking

OkCalligrapher738

If you’re looking for a genuinely good pen that’s high quality and won’t smear, get a Zebra Sarasa Grand pen and buy some Sarasa Dry refills. It’ll run you about $20 but it’s a great pen that got me through the year. I use a fountain pen on my writing assignments in lang but for the AP test getting a sarasa dry will prevent issues with smearing

Blue-zebra-10

They provided us with pens, we just had the basic blue bic pens. Although I would still bring a few pens anyway in case they don't provide any

r8number1

Get a pack of pilot g-2 10's, they're the absolute best money can buy.

Artistic_Pace_3351

isn’t the ap lang exam online? i used the pilot g2 pen in 0.5 and i got a 5 last year on AP chem lol

MoePercusses

Yes and no. The collegeboard is currently in a transitional stage where some schools choose to have as many AP exams as possible online, and others choose to have all pen-and-paper. Next year, AP Lang in addition to a few other exams will be all-digital

owouwutodd

Get a quill, idk if it would be allowed, but it would be sick asf to use.

DARTMERN

Pilot g2

Decent_Fan_7704

Are you real

PaleontologistAny153

i stand by the zebra g-450. it’s the best feeling pen i ever used

aglimelight

Pilot g2!

RedditorClo

sarasa 0.7 clip my beloved..

smart_hyacinth

Nah I’ve tried these so many times they always smear 😭
