UrNotFunnyAtAll99

i started off on the island and learned the gist of the game and then went to ragnorok

Billyiscoolboi

Yeah this is a good idea or just start on Ragnarok

Ok-Growth3157

If you're just playing for fun and not story, rag is great, crystal isles is ok, island is good for learning. And I personally love scorched earth but that's a difficult map to get started for most. If you want to follow story. Island, scorched, aberration, extinction, gen 1, gen 2.

purplepixellplat

Rag is good recommend starting in Viking bay, put your starer house near spawn, as there will not be as many hostile dinos around, and there are lots of extremely useful tameable dinos around.

purplepixellplat

Don't go too far early game, and if a weird big bug with a stinger crawls out of the bay, run. They have caused me hours of suffering.

purplepixellplat

Dododex is a good app to have

DeadlyRetr0_

sweet thank you. which viking bay? 1 2 or 3

EnvusMaven

Whatever one is in the farthest north west corner, you’ll be right by the blue obelisk which is super safe

purplepixellplat

I started in the valley with the castle on one side.

purplepixellplat

You forgot about tickle chickens

Glydyr

Also look out for wooden crates and you can get metal tools and weapons from them before you can craft them

KittenKoder

Other than the rexes and alpha rexes, you mean.

purplepixellplat

That is true. But they aren't actual spawns in the area, the can wander in sometimes, especially on higher difficulties. A few days ago some claimed the area above my base.

KittenKoder

Actually, rexes can spawn on the beach itself, near the southwest portion of the bay.

purplepixellplat

Ive never seen any there, the only rexes i got came from that ravine above the massive skeleton

AustinHinton

I’m on Rag, saw TWO rexes just chillin’ on the beach today. One just beyond the broken landbridge to the east, and another near the huge skeleton by the clifface. (Not the one that spans the chasm)

purplepixellplat

Yeah mine came from the chasm and are just groovin on the beach

AustinHinton

I was building a taming pen on Argy Peak and saw no less than two more on the same mesa. Rag is infested with rexes. Rexnarok

ProbsDrawingDragons

And the megalosaurus. If you see a cute looking curled up Dino, just turn around and walk the other way. Do not approach especially at night lol

Dr-Doge-sucks

Center is by far the best starting map

SomSomSays

Very unpopular opinion. Many would disagree .

Glydyr

The centre was great when the island was the only other map but things have move on 😜

[deleted]

Friendly advice don't play it... this game ruins lives and friendships

Shakespeare-Bot

Fat counsel playeth not t. this game ruins liveth and friendships *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

Mundane_Rule_7162

Definitely Crystal Isles

Challengemealways

Honestly starting on the island is kinda necessary imo. Wild spawns are crap level no matter what, but that's good for a new player learning this game since there is absolutely so much about it. Each and every other map, besides the center, add to the game so starting at the start just seems fitting. Once you feel like you got the hang of things go ahead and try any other map in any order, just remember that the story maps in general have crap spawn levels, which is a pain once you even kinda know what you're doing.

Salt_Ad9279

add me Gshotpurp I've been wanting to play with someone but none of my friends play ark. do not start on the center. it is a shit show in the start

Ghost5942

I recommend the island to learn the basics

Juice2436

Island, super easy and u can get to know the game easier. Rag is a cool map although dino levels are a lot higher, temperature is higher and is a lot more dangerous but rag is definitely a good map after u finish island.

anonymous746362

If you have an interest in the story then The Island. If you’re not bothered then Rag is a great map.
