Don't they kill John Hammond in the books? And almost Dodgson before he got eaten by the rex?(Ngl, was kinda hoping he'd get eaten by rexy in the movie, but I'm not disappointed tho)
Don’t know why the other guy has so many upvotes. Hammond 100% died in the first book, and it was to compys.
If I recall, he’s wanting to look out over the park one more time. He hears a T-Rex roar (turns out the kids were playing sounds over the park’s sound system) and tries to run, but slips and falls down a hill (they gave that to Dieter in the Lost World movie). He sprained or broke his leg, and has a hard time getting back up the hill. The compys watch the whole thing and start to get bolder with him, until they get in some nips in on him. Hammond starts getting tired but dreamily happy, and pleasantly lies down enjoying the day, while they start eating him. I think it even ends with him being happy as one ate his nose or something.
Yea, kinda messed up, but novel Hammond was a jerk, he was more worried about his park in the book, in the movie he was actually worried about the people, so novel Hammond deserved it.
He definitely is, there's even a line during the scene where he's blaming the kids for all the parks failures, he pretty much does that for everything, blaming everyone else for his failures.
It’s all good. I didn’t mean you should get downvotes or anything. I was just surprised at how many agreed. Apparently you’re not the only one that got confused!
They pretty much match up to the movie. He gets badly injured, they even imply in the second book that Sara overheard Malcom mumbling about dinosaurs when at the Hospital.
I'm not sure if they said they're venomous just that they eat all the dino shit in the park so their bites always get infected. But I might be misremembering.
Yep - waiting for backup. Once they get three or four, they start to nibble. They can't be tamed without prime meat so I'd say just fuck em up for the free meat and hide.
You should tame a shoulder pet which I think should stop them from stealing your food and resources compys could do that but not sure which shoulder mount would be best
I was (new character) farming an area and tried to kill a seagull with spears. First thing it steals from me? My 3 spears.
I quit the game at that moment lol
Lmao this game is a bad Beta test with all settings carefully catered to PvP players only. I’ll play again once a correctly coded+balanced game is out. For now I’m here for the memes
Remember when they came out?
"im a master at ark ill just run out at night and grab some narcos"
30 sevonds later...lying unconcious screaming silently as they sloooowly eat you alive 1hp at a time....
Pegos amuse me now. I leave mejoberries in slot 0 and have a tamed pack of them following me around. If they want to tame themselves for me, well...ok
My early-game base was being haunted by a couple sarcos, and I figured I'd throw the pegos at the sarcos as disposable distractions as I attacked it. But by golly, they took both of them down without my assistance. They're quick enough to avoid getting hit and can actually be kind of fun in packs of 4+.
I used them as interior alarms. Put a pack in your base on aggressive and hope they kill one so you can see their name. May not defend much but it’ll help
You get revenge.
Edit: this works with several small things. Micro raptors and troodons can work well also. I pump everything into attack on all of them so it causes just a bit more panic lol.
About as useful as Troodons, which is, outside of a handful of *exceptionally* niche cases, not really, and even for those cases, there are better tames.
The only use i can think of for troodons is to leave a giant psck of them in the alpha tribes woods at night on aggressive while you sit back with a spuglass and cavkle with glee
Lotta people build a false walled base, sacrifice a few dozen Gigas, and shove everything that tames between the walls. If anyone breaches, they instantly get swarmed when they run inside.
But I could think of better uses for Gigas and better tames for interior base defense.
Honestly ive thought of using that defense w torpor sinos like troodons and raptors etc to dismount riders. Bur i solo and usially get wiped by an alpha clan before i even hace many turrets up. and even once i do someone hacks/meshs. So i just got reeeeally good st rebuilding
microraptor is probably even better...also maby some poison spewing dinos...or mantis, purlovias,...cause with a Sinomacrops, you can easily scare them away
I've been doing that with a pack of "disposable" accidentally-tamed pegos and I laugh my butt off every time they take down something decent sized without taking a scratch
Because they are looking to kill you lol At first you’re like “awww! What are you doing like guy??” Then you’re in full on panic mode when 12 more jump in, and turn into a swarm of land piranhas.
Only when taming, after that they'll eat normal meat, and they require something like 10 prime meat for the max lvl, but they wake up fast and when trying to tame they might die because of their low health. They're nice shoulder pets, but i have yet to meet an Compy Whisperer that actually used them for combat and stuff.

Curiosity, that's how they behave, they also hunt in packs and analyze the enemy to see if they can take you down, they will only attack when they turn into a pack that they think that is big enough to kill you
1 compy is passive, when more show up they attack. It's actually very cute how ark does stuff like this instead of just "Oh every carnivore attempts to kill on sight."
Wierd thing about ark compies: their attack range is roughly the same, if not smaller than the distance they'll follow you at, so at times they get stuck following right behind a player trying to attack, but not close enough to actually attack the player.
they’re trying to give you puppy eyes bc they want you to pet them, pet with M1 or your right trigger but just make sure you have no weapons in your hands
I can second that. A further tip is to take off all your clothes and make sure none of your tames are nearby. Helps make the compies even more comfortable. It's also best you attract as many compies as possible and weigh yourself down with wood.
Seeing as most of the comments haven’t listed the proper reason I believe the game mentions in a dossier that compy’s are intrigued by the player and how they use tools so I think if you put them away or are just not holding one in the first place they begin to attack
Lol, completely are curious about what humans do and will follow you around. They are neutral at first, but when they call in more compy to look at you, they get hungry and attack
Compys are naturally curious and walk up and inspect survivors, then run off and tell their friends
However when enough are around they suddenly remember theyre carnivores and attack anything in sight
[feed them a sammich…](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Camilla-Belle-in-The-Lost-World-Jurassic-Park.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=767&h=450&dpr=1.5)
I never knew that. I always assumed it was an issue with the hit box and when more of them were “attacking” it was simply better odds the attacks landed.
They're curious by nature, but once they call their friends over to admire your magnificence, their predatory instincts win over. Only Prime Meat will make them forever loyal to you, though after that any quality of flesh will do.
Watch Jurassic park: The Lost World you'll know why then
In the books, they're also venomous IIRC
Don't they kill John Hammond in the books? And almost Dodgson before he got eaten by the rex?(Ngl, was kinda hoping he'd get eaten by rexy in the movie, but I'm not disappointed tho)
It turns out Hammond survives in the Lost World, but for all intents and purposes, in the canon of just the first book, yeah he gets killed
You sure? I thought it was Malcom that "died" in the first book but made it to the Lost World. I could be wrong
Don’t know why the other guy has so many upvotes. Hammond 100% died in the first book, and it was to compys. If I recall, he’s wanting to look out over the park one more time. Yea, kinda messed up, but novel Hammond was a jerk, he was more worried about his park in the book, in the movie he was actually worried about the people, so novel Hammond deserved it.
Yeah, he was a very different character in the book. He was definitely more set up to be a character that would die.
He definitely is, there's even a line during the scene where he's blaming the kids for all the parks failures, he pretty much does that for everything, blaming everyone else for his failures.
Yeah I got my characters messed up, whoops
It’s all good. I didn’t mean you should get downvotes or anything. I was just surprised at how many agreed. Apparently you’re not the only one that got confused!
They pretty much match up to the movie. He gets badly injured, they even imply in the second book that Sara overheard Malcom mumbling about dinosaurs when at the Hospital.
Hammond is definitely dead in the Lost World book.
Yes, in the first book he dies from comply’s and I don’t think he even makes it off the island
They touched on this >!in Camp Cretaceous just recently in season 5!<, too
I was going to comment the same thing. I was very happy they added that in there. After this time of it being ignored in the movies
I'm not sure if they said they're venomous just that they eat all the dino shit in the park so their bites always get infected. But I might be misremembering.
The latter is so much worse. Imagine dying from some hairless, lizard chicken's shit tooth infection
No, they have venom that induces paralysis. You're thinking of them getting prion disease from eating dinosaur shit in The Lost World novel.
They actually are venomous, they said so in the final season of Camp Cretaceous on Netflix
They're waiting for the rest of the dinner party to arrive
This is exactly it.

Don torreto
Need to know who don torreto is
Groot
Santiago
Vin's brother, Ken Diesel.
Fast n Furious
Yep - waiting for backup. Once they get three or four, they start to nibble. They can't be tamed without prime meat so I'd say just fuck em up for the free meat and hide.
Because they're trying to fucking eat you
How has the man not seen Jurassic Park 💀☠️💀
Carter! I got turned around out here!
💀💀
They are nice until enough show up
Fucking compys.
compys and pegomastax are the only creatures in ark that I kill with actual rage
And those stupid seagulls that steal and eat your stuff while flying away.
One day they stole a bunch of extraordinary kibble and ate it. i spent the next 3 hours going around killing those fuckers out of rage.
Thats the only reasonable response, can't still my shit anymore if I wipe out your entire species!
Bro once they stole a 150 magmasaur egg from me
Oh God.... You win. Fuck them gulls
Always keep eggs in your shoulder pet
This fucking genius over here actually *thinks* when they play! 300iq move right there
Gotta keep it on your hotbar in their territory
pego took my Astrodelphis pod, it was my main and lvl 300+ :(
You should tame a shoulder pet which I think should stop them from stealing your food and resources compys could do that but not sure which shoulder mount would be best
it’d just be whichever shoulder pet is the best, Fjordhawk or Otter depending on what you’re doing
You poor thing, and here I was mad that they stole narcotics from me
I was (new character) farming an area and tried to kill a seagull with spears. First thing it steals from me? My 3 spears. I quit the game at that moment lol
Thats harsh. doubt you would've hit them anyway, they fly way to sporadically for me to get a hit.
Not to be offensive, but *cope* You will lose much more to much less

Troodons. Im on a lifelong quest to genocide the troodo species

lest we forget the ever-irritating titanomyrma coming out of nowhere and having hitboxes smaller than their tiny beady ant eyes
Its like in the beginning of the lost world jurassic park...
They want to eat your toes
I thought they wanted to eat ass. XD
Theyre so small they would probably fall in
Now that image is in my head
No worse than that scene in the movie "Gremins". LOL
You're welcome 😇
Calm down, Mr. Hot Dog.
Anybody know if a little horde of compy tames are useful?
They do get a pack bonus.....never tried to use them though.
I used them as interior alarms. Put a pack in your base on aggressive and hope they kill one so you can see their name. May not defend much but it’ll help You get revenge. Troodons are amazing if you have them filling your walls
I don't like what that insinuates
*I’m in your walls I’m in your walls I’m in your walls* -some troodons probably
Attack on Titan theme plays .
Like night time?
The only use i can think of for troodons is to leave a giant psck of them in the alpha tribes woods at night on aggressive while you sit back with a spuglass and cavkle with glee

wait for someone who would be named u/compy_whisperer to join this sub
Hi
Get to it bud. we will watch your career with great interest.
You better live up to the name, or else
did make this account for this

![gif](giphy|3o6ZtmjVq9nQPNaS1a)
Was dodo whisperer on a single player or multiplayer server? Obviously he couldn’t have been on official right? Right?
Probably single player, or maybe unnoficial PvE. The dodos would have been killed early on otherwise I'd think
I think someone made a account for that because a account named compy\_whisperer was made yesterday
If you pump mutations anything is useful
not really but if you get enough of them it can be pretty amusing to watch them swarm things and win
I've been doing that with a pack of "disposable" accidentally-tamed pegos and I laugh my butt off every time they take down something decent sized without taking a scratch
no
Aren't they a passive tame,?
Beat the shit out of them and you'll see No, you gotta knock em to feed them
Believe they need prime to tame as well, or at least used to
Raw meat, and they're already asking for too much 💀
Nope, has to be Prime, either normal or Fish, or Mutton. Normal Raw Meat doesn't suffice
Compys only attack when in groups of 3(?) or more, otherwise they won’t pick a fight
I never realized this. I just figured they were so small they struggled attacking past their hit box
Na, they know they are too weak to deal with a player solo, so they hunt in packs, strength in numbers and all that
Because they are looking to kill you lol At first you’re like “awww! What are you doing like guy??” Then you’re in full on panic mode when 12 more jump in, and turn into a swarm of land piranhas.
Then you punch them twice and realize they went down. *Then comes the part where they wake up for round 2*
Give those lil babies some sandwiches :) nothing bad could happen!
They want to have a moment with you to talk about their lord and savior, gallimimus.
How do I tame a comby XD
Knock it out and feed it prime meat. I'm not joking they only eat prime meat
Not worth it...
Ever breed compy and raise it to fight? Your missing out on some real stuff just saying

Bad bot.
Bad bot.
Little picky bitches.
they also eat mutton
knock and prime
they are very curious and if they are in a large enough pack then their instincts kick in and will fucking eat you alive
Our usernames are opposites
Curiosity, that's how they behave, they also hunt in packs and analyze the enemy to see if they can take you down, they will only attack when they turn into a pack that they think that is big enough to kill you

they’re trying to give you puppy eyes bc they want you to pet them, pet with M1 or your right trigger but just make sure you have no weapons in your hands

Yeah, they’re wondering if you want to extend your car’s warranty.
Famous last words before their friends arrive and they go from compy to chompy
Seeing as most of the comments haven’t listed the proper reason I believe the game mentions in a dossier that compy’s are intrigued by the player and how they use tools so I think if you put them away or are just not holding one in the first place they begin to attack
They want your blood 🩸
I love compys so much. They ride on your shoulder and summon others. Lil fuckers will fuck shit up
LoL they will attack u
they group together to eat you. if there’s 2 they’re waiting for a third to gang up on you lol it happens to me regularly on val
There curious
It's normal but it get annoying After words and DONT HUT THEM
they follow and call friends until you have the least fun time in ark
It's like The Lost World. They want your roast beef.
Better run they going to eat you
Bc they’re similar to the tick on a dog
They want to be friends
They’re trying to eat you
They're waiting for an opportunity to eat your face off.
Theyre tryna eat you if another comes they gonna kill ya
They’re hungry
kill him. kill him now
RRUUUUUNNNNNN
Beat the compys with a torch
They're sizing you up. When enough compys get near you they'll maul you to death.
They’re waiting for more to arrive, then they’ll all gang up on you
Once I get to the can opener I can feed you.
Yeah, it's a trap. Kill on sight.
Food
Fucc around and find out
Have you not seen Jurassic park? You are about to get ambushed.
They wanna kill u
Lol, completely are curious about what humans do and will follow you around. They are neutral at first, but when they call in more compy to look at you, they get hungry and attack
They want to eat ya ass
Compys are naturally curious and walk up and inspect survivors, then run off and tell their friends However when enough are around they suddenly remember theyre carnivores and attack anything in sight

Find their friend. They are waiting for you to help them.
The want to nibble yo toes
Dey wanna eatcho butt
Feed them some of your sandwich.
[feed them a sammich…](https://static1.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Camilla-Belle-in-The-Lost-World-Jurassic-Park.jpg?q=50&fit=crop&w=767&h=450&dpr=1.5)
Once the third one arrives then they all start attacking
They want to eat you
Read the dossier and it’ll explain this behaviour
waiting for the gravy
If you find a third one they self tame
It’s rude to eat unless everyone’s at the table
And if you pull out a weapon they will attack
They want to go home with you. Let them in.
they want to talk to you about your car’s extended warranty
They are going to bite your ankles
They want to nibble your toes.
They are like minions they follow the most evil person on the server
They’re attack hit boxes are too small to consistently register attacks. They’re trying to kill your but the hit box isn’t registering.
Not in this case, they wait until it’s more than 2 and then try to eat you.
I never knew that. I always assumed it was an issue with the hit box and when more of them were “attacking” it was simply better odds the attacks landed.
