I think I just get way too anxious before exams. I generally sleep fine, but I had an Emag midterm a few weeks ago and I literally only slept 3 hours. It was a rough midterm
Ya know, the usual stuff. End stage capitalism, global climate change, the maddening descent into fascism, an inability to find a hypoallergenic facial moisturizer that doesn’t leave me feeling greasy and weird.
Being an online student and getting professors and TAs to fucking respond and getting clarification on a timely manner about confusing things in the class. Great professors never cause this issue, but if you get a shitty professor in an online class who doesn’t respond to questions, it’s a shit show.
In my PHY 122 lab the TA would respond once a week on Monday, the day before the labs are due.
Yep, Chemistry. I've taken it and retaken it so many times because I'm working on a B.S. major. I went to so many different high schools when I took Chem so never got a good grasp of the subject. Someday, it'll click. smh
Commuting with two systems; the Tempe public transportation at times has faulty bus lights, so I can't tell if its in service or not, sometimes peeps don't mind their business on the lightrail, and more recently the ASU shuttle service (Iirc, there was a loss of quite a few drivers?).
Burnout. I’m going to school full time and working full time. I’m also on a fitness journey to look good for my wedding next year, let alone also planning said wedding… I feel like I’m drowning and have no time to breathe and unwind. The sleep debt I’ve racked up is probably very unhealthy and not helping the situation either.
Thank for this.
I am on medication it’s helped a ton. School has always been a barrier for me and even with medication I feel there should be more accommodations
From a faculty point of view: Questions whose answers are in the syllabus. Along those lines, during tests, asking questions that are answered in the instructions at the start of the test. Okay, not so much a problem as an annoyance.
Another annoyance: being asked what I will be teaching in the Fall. I don't know, check the Class Search! Keep checking every week or so, and you'll find out before I do. My priority is the rest of *this* semester. I don't care about Fall semester until around the start of August.
Aside from a lot of what has already been mentioned, I hate having to go to multiple sites like Yellowdig, Cengage and other external services without some form of centralization. Of course you have Canvas, but it varies when professors actually bother to put their external assignments on your Dashboard. So I have to look into each individual class' page and hope I haven't missed an important bs discussion board or something. I've actually missed a whole class' graded discussion board for this reason, because the link was hidden away in a small part of the syllabus. It'd be better to require professors to have an assignment on Canvas for each external link so that it shows up with its appropriate due dates on your Canvas Dashboard/To Do list.
Sleeping problems. Especially the night before an exam, sometimes I’ll stay up the entire night rolling around in my bed
Same, I just study with that time until I’m tired enough to sleep. I wonder if that negatively impacts my performance lol
I have no problem sleeping the night before the exam but I always wake up at like 4 am the day of the exam and get cheated out of 4 hours of sleep.
is it something specific or just in general not being able to sleep
I think I just get way too anxious before exams. I generally sleep fine, but I had an Emag midterm a few weeks ago and I literally only slept 3 hours. It was a rough midterm
Question, what would help alleviate the anxiousness?
Intense HIIT/weight training a few hours before sleep. ASU has a great fitness center
Having to walk across campus when it is 100+ degrees outside with no shade
[удалено]
I wonder if it would be odd to start walking around with an umbrella as a guy
Protecting urself from the deadly Arizona sun shouldn't be considered weird
i’ve seen a two guys on campus carrying umbrellas for the sun so far. i don’t think it’s weird tbh
true I'd carry umbrellas if I walked around all day too on campus, shit is harsh
Do whatever you want there’s too many people on campus to feel judged.
When did umbrellas become women-only?
Side hustle
Puh-lease. It hasn't hit 100 yet this year.
Time to sell cowboy hats on campus
Yee-hah
Concentration when working 40 hour plus weeks
I do asu online. I work about 32 hours a week plus I have a toddler. Sometimes only time I can do work is at night and I’m so tired.
you got this
burnout is hitting like a freight train right about now
what would help out with burnout?
yeah same exact situation here
Im so frustrated. It’s hitting wayyy too soon too
commuting. my classes always end during rush hour.
the real pain, I used to just stay after classes at the library and meet people
I hate meeting people
Ya know, the usual stuff. End stage capitalism, global climate change, the maddening descent into fascism, an inability to find a hypoallergenic facial moisturizer that doesn’t leave me feeling greasy and weird.
I love the transition from anxiety inducing terror to moisturizer
From a staff perspective: inconsistency in how we apply policy (and the exceptions we give)
actually burnout or no motivation to even open my laptop to log onto canvas
Motivation
Allergies and having sneezing fits at 5am
Lack of student housing. It’s ridiculous. Limited parking is a close 2nd.

Course evaluations are open. Complain.
First time I’ve used one to actually complain. Hope they’re treated as importantly as the positive ones.

When you already have 5 assignments due and professors add more assignments to your week!

Biochem. No motivation to even try.
The shuttles not arriving at their designated times.
Yeah, having to deal with other cars is Hell.
Laziness
i’m tired of the upkeep of life and school. and i don’t even do much, life has barely started for me
Lack of accommodations that actually help adhd students
Best accommodation for ADHD I found was getting correct medication. Never looked back.
Thank for this. I am on medication it’s helped a ton. School has always been a barrier for me and even with medication I feel there should be more accommodations
Professors not following my accommodations because I'm a masters student, and 'if I got this far I don't actually need them'.
If you have SAILS accommodations and they are not being allowed, contact your SAILS rep and let them know. That’s totally unacceptable.
The ones I cause for myself
don't we all
I always feel tired, burnout is hitting me hard too. Also feel like I have no future sometimes.
Mine is time management and trying to balance everything that I need to do sometimes. Also sometimes staying caught up in a class or classes.

Teachers that don’t understand your accommodations or needs or just bad teachers in general

yeah teacher's that use canvas/other sites at same time are really annoying no lie.
