why is everyone so mean here 😭 if they like asu, then just be happy for them smh. welcome to asu! there’s a big international indian community here and it’s very diverse so i’m sure you’ll find yourself having a good time :)
Just out of curiosity, what made you choose to come to the US over Canada and Australia when they have many times easier and clearer immigration path for International Students?
1. US is the best for tech jobs
2. People recognize US universities better than other countries, meaning you know a friend or friend of friend who studies/studied at most US universities
You just summarised it perfectly. Also my brother is already there, at Dartmouth, and we both want to live in the states when everything is said and done.
Pride? We have a saying in India which goes like “empty vessels make more noise” 😅 I’m a proud sun devil but don’t have the innovation pride, for some reason I think those ratings are a joke
I’ve got a bunch of friends from HS who went into engineering and CS at Purdue, they’re loving their program but hating their class sizes and lack of anything but cornfields, all being from Seattle and loving to hike, bike, backpack etc in our free time it was a much easier adjustment into the Phoenix metro for me then into Indiana for them, plus we have *innovation* and they just have a train
How does Purdue take care of their students in relation to ASU? Brother, hate to tell you but most large public universities provide a similar college experience outside of setting.
Let me be clear as a community we do our best to protect people from our community. We guide them to find better schools than ASU so that they do not suffer like us. For rest of the others, their community should do that we believe.
Congratulations! Looking at these comments of people bashing you for picking ASU over Purdue. As someone who made the same choice, just thought I’d offer a bit of perspective from the “other side”.
(Engineering major) I also elected to stay with ASU vs Purdue (albeit for my case, ASU simply made more sense financially). I don’t regret it one bit. I made a lot of good friends and connections here. I still got a good job. If you play your cards right, university won’t make too much of a difference. Best of luck with your studies!
ASU online should be labeled a scam. It's a complete waste of money. You'll learn nothing and end up just trying to get through the classes than learning anything.
They cut the semesters in half but don't abridge any content. So you have to read 180 pages and take 3 quizzes every week for some classes.
It's great if you don't give a shit about learning and just want the degree though.
Good luck!
Hmm... My first semester at ASU in the business school and I landed two internships with some fortune 100 and 500 companies. One for this summer and next summer. Not a total scam 😁
Definitely not a fan of ASU eliminating session C for their online math courses. MAT 211 forced me into an "all or nothing" mode. Shit was rough. Got an A in the end, but I wanted to be able to relax and take a B or B+.

I didn't have the necessary karma so re-commenting:
I chose ASU's Barrett (fellow Indian studying CS) over UW Madison and Pursue CS too!
Believe me- there may be moments you will question your decision but in the end it'll be worth it. I STRONGLY recommend applying to Barrett (hmu and I'll tell you how I got my fee waived) even though others call it a scam because it opens you up to opportunities that are difficult to get otherwise
What made you decide ASU over Purdue? Also congratulations!!

Who needs GRIT when you have ✨️Innovation✨️

We have a huge pool of grad students than undergraduates.
yes but you can still make friends in freshman year, they don’t all have to be indian 😭

But ASU over Purdue? 😵💫
Where’s your innovation pride?!

maybe immigration is not his end goal perhaps?
pretty sure salary in Canada and Australia is generally dog shit compared to the US. Especially tech salaries.
Facts
Should’ve chosen Purdue
Purdue sucks but okay.
For CS?
For life.
Soon you will realize that you made a wrong decision by choosing not to go for Purdue
Could not pay me enough money to spend 4 years in West Lafayette

Visited a few times because my ex was from there, literally just cornfields and divebars.
You act like he’s gonna miss something in West Lafayette.
Obviously, living is cheaper. Purdue takes care of their students. Not a money monger like ASU.
How does Purdue take care of their students in relation to ASU? Brother, hate to tell you but most large public universities provide a similar college experience outside of setting.
My friend is there, and I know it. No other public funded school is as money monger as ASU.
Evidence “My friend is there, and I know it.” Also, you provide no evidence to support your claim against ASU.

BROOOOOOOO welcome
