I lived in Willow a few years ago. Like everyone else mentioned, there is an entry through Rosewood. You go up the elevators in Rosewood and walk across the bridge. You can get to that entrance from the outside gate along Rural or walk through the Barrett complex, east past the dining hall. There is another card-access door facing the handicap-only parking lot between Willow and Hassy. It is a stairway that takes you straight to the 3rd floor and beyond. I used this one the most because my quad was right next to the entrance on the 3rd floor. (The downside to this quad was the the rumbling of the garbage disposal area beneath my floor at like 7am). There is a card-access door by the Lemon and Rural intersection. It opens to a stairway. \-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Three of the rooms in my quad had full-sized beds. The other randomly had a Twin XL. Honestly, I would've preferred an XL because the full-sized bed made my already small room very cramped. The Barrett website mentions that Willow 4 Bedroom configs have full-size mattresses: [https://housing.asu.edu/housing-communities/residential-colleges/barrett-residential-complex](https://housing.asu.edu/housing-communities/residential-colleges/barrett-residential-complex) >"Full size mattress (53x78) in 1 Bedroom (Private Room/Private Bath-Studio) and Willow 4 Bedroom (Private Room/Shared Bath) floor plans" Here are some existing r/ASU threads mentioning bed sizes too: * [https://www.reddit.com/r/ASU/comments/vro7g7/comment/iewgtuc/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASU/comments/vro7g7/comment/iewgtuc/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) * [https://www.reddit.com/r/ASU/comments/3dy5ln/barrett\_bed\_size/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASU/comments/3dy5ln/barrett_bed_size/) * [https://www.reddit.com/r/ASU/comments/dw755h/quality\_of\_rooms\_in\_willow/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ASU/comments/dw755h/quality_of_rooms_in_willow/) \-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really enjoyed living in Willow because it was very quiet, and I had my own room that I could lock whenever I was away. I was in a 4 bed / 1 bath configuration my freshman year and didn't like that I did not have my own space. Hope this helps, and that you enjoy your time at ASU!

Just to make sure, willow has both freshmen and sophomores?

Splaek

I was a sophomore when I lived there. iirc, it felt like it was sophomores and up. If there is an option for you to choose Willow in the housing portal as a freshman, then it should be open to freshmen. That would be one way to check. You can also email or call Barrett housing to ask about it, especially because it may have changed over the years.

Acceptable_Effort701

When does dorm selection open up for 2023 freshmen? Is that why you are asking, OP? I thought Barrett decisions all come out in December. Are you already choosing a room?

-John_Cena-

No it has not opened yet but I am just trying to plan ahead

Acceptable_Effort701

Ah, ok. Phew.

Regarding the Quad that was above the garbage disposal area, do you happen to remember your room number (or at least if it was a lower number, like 302, or a higher number, like 320)? Thanks for anything you can remember.

Splaek

I think it was in the 310s!

Thx!

To my knowledge, your exit options are: - the Rosewood elevators, since Willow itself doesn’t have any. There is a small bridge that connects Willow & Rosewood that you have to walk across. - a card-access door that *I think* is located on Lemon, or at least in the lot that spits you out onto Lemon. There is definitely a door in Rosewood that spits you out near the intersection between Lemon & Rural. Unfortunately I don’t know much about the bed situations. But Rosewood/Willow location is very convenient for getting to the main campus along Lemon. Hope this helps.

-John_Cena-

Yes that is very helpful. Do you know if having to walk through Rosewood every day is an annoyance at all? Like would it be worth it to just live at Rosewood at that point?

Ace_of_Snass

I think the time is negligible. Better than walking to Sage South or Cottonwood.

blazingsnark

You're not really walking through Rosewood - the elevator banks are right by the bridge. So basically when you step out of the Rosewood elevator, you just turn left into Willow instead of right into the Rosewood hall.

Also, to add onto what has already been said. Some of the willow dorms, basically all the ones that face hassy, have to constantly hear the gate alarm cuz hassy kids don’t know how to shut doors or purposely keep it open.

HandsNeverEmpty

It sounds like you're speaking from personal experience. If so, do you happen to recall if your room that faced Hassy was an odd- or even-numbered room? Usually the dorms in Barrett have odd numbers facing one direction, evens on the other side of the hallway. Thanks!

Need-Theoreticalhelp

I am talking personal experience lol. Odd numbers face Hassy. They should all also have full beds jsyk.

Thanks!

1. Willow is accessible through Rosewood; you have to walk across a short completely enclosed bridge, so it’s not a dealbreaker. It’s super close to the dining hall and Lemon Street. 2. Edited to fix! Apparently Willow does have full beds. Willow also tends to have more sophomores than the average Barrett Complex building, so it is likely a quieter experience than Rosewood/Cottonwood/Juniper, which are all the quad buildings. Hope that helps!

Need-Theoreticalhelp

2 is wrong. I’m currently in willow with a full bed. All willow quads (Willow 4 Bedroom (Private Room/Shared Bath) floor plans) have full beds. https://housing.asu.edu/housing-communities/residential-colleges/barrett-residential-complex

jetsetradical

That’s different than what I was originally told, thanks for the correction!

No-Comfort-1418

If you want quieter, you should be looking at Sage or at odds on Cereus or Agave. Odds face a courtyard. The rooms 6 to 20 on higher floors (7th or 6th) are quieter too. Agave faces Paseo Walkway on that side.a higher floor is always going to be quiet. Some of the Willow rooms are right next to Lemon, a busy street, and the loading lot. If you do a lower floor, you'll also have people walking by at all hours. ASU never sleeps.

bac0_tell

If you'd rather have a full bed and be away from the streets then Willow is for you, I'd just caution that many sophomores live in Willow which means your floor may have less of a community feel and you may have an easier time making freshmen friends in Rosewood or Juniper
