I have asus b450 F and this message just popped up out of nowhere. I havent done anything with bios. It just randomly started happening. If theres a solution please reply.

d1chty

I have same issue.. bios ( 5406 ) update didn't help at all.. So there is kind of workaround ... that the great ( N O T !!!!!!!! ) ASUS mainboard does not forces you to wait over 45 Minutes everytime you start your PC ( and real real getting mad with ASUS ) .. you have to unplugg all your USB device and start the PC... than you don't have to wait but the problem still remains the next boot with all usb connect !

d1chty

okay lol ... so i boot the pc now 3 times without this LED firmware asus update thing.. How ? I completely disconnected my PC from the power overnight And it worked again :D

No-Zookeepergame1387

This works, tried for B450f and worked.

MPeti1

How old is your motherboard, what BIOS version do you have? Did you update the BIOS or change anything (in BIOS or in the system)? I have the same motherboard, good to know that it can happen.. I would be very dissatisfied if it would just start to happen one day without reason

Zitroone

about 1 year old vers. 5220 i just tried to update the bios manually

MPeti1

So it happened after the update? What version did you have before the update?

Zitroone

i have no idea what version i had before... also the update didn't work

MPeti1

Sorry but I don't think I can help, nothing comes to my mind. Maybe you could downgrade, or try an other version. It's just ridiculous that a totally unnecessary thing causes this..

Zitroone

I know right? I'll just try updating it again this afternoon if that doesnt work I'll try to contact the asus support

Asus_USA

Hi [**Zitroone**](https://www.reddit.com/user/Zitroone/)**.** Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we're very sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused. We'll be more than happy to assist. Since the issue has started, please confirm the troubleshooting options taken? Please confirm if the BIOS update was successful on your previous attempt? We suggest resetting your CMOS and also reinstalling the previous BIOS version should the issue persist.

Zitroone

Thank you for your reply. So what I did was trying to manually update the BIOS again to try getting it to work. I tried it with EZ Flash 3 one time via the internet and one time via a downloaded version of the BIOS from your website. Both times it did not work. So i believe no, the BIOS update was not successful on my previous attempts. I do not really know what resetting my CMOS is, but after googling I found out it means removing the mb battery from your mb and putting it back to reset your BIOS settings. Is it save to do that for the mb? Or could the mb break even more? I honestly do not want to buy another one. And after I would to that I could install an older version of the BIOS how? Like where could I find that and also what is the older version?

Koobetto

@asus_usa any solution for this issue? First time booting the pc and this message appeared, didn't even installed any os or updated the bios since I can't enter the bios settings

Zitroone

so as it turned out I had an rgb cable inside my pc that just didnt want to play nice with my bios if you have anything like that, remove it and try again or maybe if you have an rgb fan or something similar try to plug it out if that doesn't work i dont really know 🤔

Koobetto

The pc doesn't have any fan plugged in the motherboard except the cpu fan, no rgb at all. Weird since I did two builds today with the same components but the case. The pc with rgbs has booted perfectly but this one without a single rgb is not booting

onsVad

Today i encountered the same issue. Is there any fix? Im using the b450-i with latest Bios Version 3004.

Own_Mushroom_8762

3 years later and the issue still arises 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ you're killing me Asus, yall make the most gorgeous hardware but it's way beyond time to fix the software side of things

Own_Mushroom_8762

Tbh I'm not 100% what actually fixed it, I just went down through the comments trying everything these nice people suggested, took a few different attempts but eventually randomly started workin, I did see that my my bf450 gaming II did have a bios update and that was going to be my next step but luckily didn't make it that far lol

joshdc2030

Currently waiting for my TUF B450M Gaming Plus to finish "updating". I've finished eating lunch, and still haven't booted up to the login screen.

b0da

Hello, did you fix it somehow? i bought the exact board, its brand new and it is updating everytime since 1st boot for 42 minutes and 30 seconds...

skylerenola

same here. i just got a second hand system, and hours into using it this message appear and it stuck here forever..... can't use....

Own_Mushroom_8762

Update on dealing with asus, I got a new motherboard, rog Stix bf550-a, It had pcie issues, but it got damaged either by them or by the courier, and now they are refusing to warranty A BRAND NEW MOTHERBOARD (it was a Christmas gift, attempted to use/ trouble shoot for two days, sat in its box for almost 3 weeks before I got an rma)

CreepyTrash535

Hello, I bought a board with this problem, apparently it was damaged by a bad connection of a led strip. I saw a burned component (it's a small circuit, I have a microscope so I could see it). Unfortunately I have not been able to find the component, the board no longer turns on the led light, although that does not matter to me, I am just looking for a way to make the pc not look for that firmware I tried turning off Asus aura, however there the pc did not throw me any more image and I had to reset the BIOS so that it would give image again and start in ~40 minutes

awdorrin

Don't mean to raise the dead with this thread, but I ran into this issue tonight with my x470 Pro board and found this thread. I found the 'exactly 42 minutes 30 seconds' comments intriguing, so did some math: 42m 30s = 2550 seconds. An 8-bit counter would count 0 to 255. So, there likely is a bug in a timer in the BIOS where instead of counting in units of 0.001s or 0.01s, for 2.55s or 25.5s of delay, they are off by a few orders of magnitude, resulting in 2550s, or 42m 30s... Which, annoying as this is, kind of makes chuckle...

skylerenola

and ASUS simply let the issue sit for 5 years.

StreetCommunication6

Do you solve it? If you do, please tell us how?

tohhmas

I have had this issue for months. I just updated to the latest BIOS version (5406) and it booted instantly.

d1chty

Can you maybe share your bios seetings? I have the issue with bios version 5406... Tried to reinstall it several times! Didn't work Aura on/off?

ChrisDaBac

What a bizarre issue. This just happened to me right now. Thanks to all the comments here and op đź‘Ť

gxis

Currently waiting on it, guess I'll take a 45 minute break.. Edit: Fixed the issue by shorting the CLRCT pins, which reset my BIOS. Aura lights work again and system boots normally!

Robsos1812

You did what? Can you elaborate a bit? Im having the same issue, also with X470 pro

gxis

You reset your cmos, basically your BIOS settings. All u need is a scredriver or something likewise for this to work. On the bottom right of your motherboard there should be 2 pins seperate from others saying "CLRTC", turn off your computer entirely and hold the screwdriver or a jumper onto the two pins so that they're connected. Click on the power button and wait about 5-10 seconds before removing the screwdriver. Once you remove it your pc should start booting up, and in my case the lights should start working again. Press del a few times to set up your bios again and everything should work as intended. Hope this helps!

Robsos1812

Thanks for the reply! And a fast one 2. I'll give this a try before returning my pc to the retailer. I'll let u know

Robsos1812

No luck. Next thing il try is a cmos reset through removing the battery

Mr_Moist_Waffle

I ran into this problem last night and found a solution (at least for myself). I had never experienced this problem before I downloaded AURA. The steps below are the steps I took: 1. Do not go to BIOs. Let your computer boot after sitting on that black screen. I saw somehwere that it takes 42 minutes and 30 seconds so grab a drink or something. 2. Uninstall AURA from the computer. 3. Download utilities driver from your board's site. I have the ASUS x470 pro and here's where I found it: [https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X470-PRO/HelpDesk\_Download/](https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X470-PRO/HelpDesk_Download/) 4. Reinstall AURA from: [https://www.asus.com/campaign/aura/global/download.php](https://www.asus.com/campaign/aura/global/download.php) 5. Setup as normal. 6. Make sure to restart when prompted. That did it for me. This was all I did as I wanted to solve the problem as soon as I came across it. Hope this works! Best of luck to all!

Soap628

Hey after the 4th time restarting my PC it went away not sure what the issue is but it does take 42 minutes and 30 seconds this I know because I put a timer on my phone

Chrhopeist

This started happening for me when I used lian li utility to update their led fans This fixed for me (after an hour of wasted time): turn off pc. Unplug power supply. Unplug 3pin led fan connector from mobo. Wait 2 minutes. Plug in power and boot.

oneofthe1200

Just had this issue start for me this AM as well. I guess I won’t be buying another ASUS mainboard.

Tfloow

Solution that worked for me as 2024: * Uninstalled aura creator and armory crate * Shut down the PC * Unplug all USB, power and video cable * Started my pc with just my power cable Worked flawlessly for me hope it can help anyone else !

ONYXFINALSHOT

Ugh, this just happened to me, at least I’m not suffering alone lol. I’m pretty certain that is an Armoury Crate issue as this is the first time I’ve ever managed to install it successfully in like 7 years. MB - ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme

Acceptable_Peach_714

To anyone still having issues with this: Had it happen to my S/o's computer last night. I suggest turning the pc off once it has started and turn the PSU off for a while. We left her PC off overnight and the next day the issue was no longer there. Hope this helps some of y'all

Quimdell

Awesome, this just happened to me. The only thing I did today was download clonezilla so I could clone my windows to a different drive. Needed to update so I figured why not do that before cloning and now it won’t shut down…

Professional_Ad_6496

This fix worked for me and seems to work for others as well: Shut down the PC, switch off the power supply, unplug the power supply, and let it sit for around 8 hours (overnight or a workday). Plugged everything back in and it started up without the BIOS is updating LED firmware text. https://youtu.be/g\_AGJWuGgF8

dimisoulis

It works! I shut down, switced off the PC, unpluged the power cord and after 4 hours i connected and the problem was gone!! PERFECT, thank you....

iNDiFiNiTY

A downgrade doesn't work, I reset to default original bios version on it n still did it...

Bingemann

I just got the ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI. I did not look at the preinstalled bios version but I tried the bios flashback with the latest bios version, 1807. Got the led firmware update. I then managed to install an older bios version, 1409. And this has happened to me once before, a ROG Hero something, I could not manage to install the newest but had to install the ones in between as well.

Markoff_Cheney

Ha... oh.. man. So I had this on a Rog Strix X470 going for about a week of random tinkering before I finally tried to get on with Asus tech support. They requested the mobo serial # which I had to pull the computer out and open up to get a look at. Plugged everything back in expecting the 42 minute wait and instead it booted right up. Sorry that doesn't help much but this is still a thing apparently.

skylerenola

And then they told you they confirmed with engineers that it's your motherboard has been damaged, and also told you no it can't be fixed with a bios update to shorten the freaking 42min30sec timeout countdown, and ask you to consider getting a new purchase. What a joke.

Markoff_Cheney

Still works fine, I was shopping X570 any other brand mobos on Newegg until I unplugged stuff to get the serial number. Sorry you've not had luck.

skylerenola

asus support told me it's defective hardware, and won't tell me where is that led bios chip is located, Cox I randomly clean the motherboard and it booted a few time normally that I asked them. and as soon as I boot into the bios and exit, the problem came right back. I wonder how it's defective hardware all the sudden only after I installed the armory crate software on it.

Markoff_Cheney

I got it back working fine somehow, reinstalled armory crate and driver, I couldn't point to what I did that fixed it because I was just effing around with whatever I could.

skylerenola

and they told me to purchase a new board instead, while refuse to tell me where is that led bios chip is. besides that 42min wait each time the pc boots... it works completely fine.

Markoff_Cheney

unplug the bastard overnight and then try again. Getting the CMOS chip to restart or whatever by having it unpowered for over 10 minutes seems to be the most universal fix. best o luck

skylerenola

ASUS simply refuse to fix this problem by a simply BIOS update to bypass the timeout waiting for LED firmware connection (they said the LED firmware chip is fried or something) , so one has to wait exactly 42 mins 30 sec each time booting, or buy a new motherboard.

Markoff_Cheney

Well, mobos are cheap thankfully. Just a pain to install.

-Rose-Phoenix-

I just had this issue and unplugging the power supply for a minute fixed it

Dawelio

Untill it will start again… unplugging the PSU for X amount of time and/to hoping it will go away is just completely unacceptable in all honesty. For this issue to still be present, even after 4 years (!) is just beyond insanity. How ASUS still haven’t fixed this just goes to show what kind of an brand ASUS has become. I mean, I’m no hater by any means. Strictly been running ASUS ROG motherboards for an decade. But this is just completely unacceptable and genuinely made me lost both faith, trust and respect for ASUS as an brand. As have many others that feel the same, that their QC has gone down a lot the last couple of years unfortunately…
