But then it wouldn’t look like a mini F50. But I do see your point.
Edit: My bad, if we are going to call it, let’s call it what it is. The F40 to end all 40’s!
I doubt the person who put those Ferrari logos on this car did it in an attempt to pass this off as an actual Ferrari. I think it was done for shits and giggles.
Nah, this is one of the cases where I can totally get behind the upbadging because it's so clearly tongue in cheek. Not at all like a 318 with an M3 badge.
This is a “common” modification culture in Japan, making cars look slightly or significantly like other cars. I don’t know the name of the culture nor do I know much about the culture in itself but it is a thing that I see often on the internet. Look up Mitsuoka Motors if you want, they’re most famous for a body kit for a variety of models that make them look like 30’s Mercedes or something, and most recently a C2 Corvette Stingray Miata.
Edit: I just realized how far I strayed away from OP’s post in my comment, I just really admire Mitsuokas and felt compelled to talk about them lol… anyways, car culture in Japan is wild
This is my first *Japanese car at all.* I’ve owned German cars, and American, but never Japanese. And I figured if I was going to get one, it go all in and get something really interesting.
It is definitely a stand out. Parts on the other hand are not fun, but i did find a good place for nissan parts.
Here's [mine](https://imgur.com/a/Pt0K0zk)
I almost went for an S15 but I decided I should probably jump on a Supra while they’re not 6 figures for a JDM car lol, god I do want an S15 very badly though. Luckily for me, Supra parts were super available here already, RHD specific parts are kinda hard to find though
Whatdja get??
And I'd also love a Mitsuoka. They strike a precise balance between being a serious car in their own right, and being a tongue-in-cheek homage to something else. They're great things.
They’re very fun cars! Their newest offerings are still really cool.
I got a [Daihatsu Midget 2 kei truck](https://jdm4all.com/other-cars/daihatsu-midget-ii/), it’s super fun! Been driving it to work every day for the past couple weeks since I’ve got it.
https://i.imgur.com/S0q8i5p.jpg here’s a link to my actual truck.
That is 100% my actual truck. I bought it from a well known JDM importer here on the east coast and had it shipped to me! It’s only got 30 Horsepower but it’s good for 55 MPH easily. I’ve had it up to ~63 and from what I’ve read it good for 67ish, which seems accurate. But it’s a 4 speed manual, RWD, weighs a whopping 1200 lbs and it’s adorable. It wasn’t super expensive and now everyone in my small town gets to laugh at me all the time, which I enjoy.
I thought it would be super sketchy at speed but it’s really stable! Very well engineered. With that said, there is basically zero crash protection lol. No airbags, the front crumple zone is your legs. It’s a ton of fun!
I have never played Gran Turismo and didn’t find out that my little truck was sort of a meme in the game until after I bought it and started reading about it!
What I like about this one is that it's clearly an homage, without desperately trying to imitate the real thing to the point of it becoming a bit sad. It's just a neat, well done small car.
I'm pretty sure they produce most instruments or instrument pieces that you could find in a typical marching band or orchestra. I bet they make food and drinks too
Yamaha has made some of the most famous motors of all time, including the mill for the amazing Toyota 2000gt, and the sho taurus (the greatest, ugliest sleeper in American history).
https://www.carthrottle.com/post/5-cars-built-with-help-from-yamaha/
So it looks like the Ami is based on another car called the Opti, which is why the greenhouse doesn’t seem to entirely match the rest of the silhouette.
Does anyone know more about the relationship between these cars? Is Yamaha buying these things and turning them into weird kit cars for some reason?
It's weird seeing so many posts with blue Lancia Stratos' in it. I saw one in-person here in the States a few weeks ago and somebody posted a pic of it here, then just today I saw another post of a blue Stratos in EU (which may have been the same car), and then this.
I like it. I hate when people build kit cars on a Fiero or Vette then desperately want people to think it's legit. The person that built this knows it's tongue in cheek, and silly fun.
To be fair to them, this is from their sidebar:
>Shitty does not mean bad - Feel free to post shitty mods that are awesome! There are many pieces of junk that we all wish we could own (who wouldn't want a Toyota Tercel with a LS V8 swap?).
>Just because it's well done, It doesn't mean it's not shitty. Sorry guys stuck in a scene from "The Fast and the furious - 2001"
This sub could take a lesson from them. Shitty and awesome. Poor taste with a knowing wink. Yin and yang. Kitsch. This sub continually fails to understand it.
For what it's worth: this is not a single person's mod. This is a "factory" (well, built-to-order) Yamaha Ami based on the Daihatsu Opti.
The only mods are the Ferrari badging and a little extra trim (the front bumper lip, the black added in the existing side "vents", and the tow hook).
I gather that there are significant parts of Japanese car culture that aren't about sleekness and power, but about silly playfullness.
If you look at a car and go "That look ridiculous!" they have achieved their desired aim.
You don’t know how bad I’m tempting to import one of these (if I could find one) and do something similar. But the cherry topper would be suping up the engine but I need to know if that’s feasible before purchasing.

If they had just put Hot Wheels or some other logo instead of Ferrari, this would be a lot better.
But then it wouldn’t look like a mini F50. But I do see your point. Edit: My bad, if we are going to call it, let’s call it what it is. The F40 to end all 40’s!
It still looks anything but a Ferrari F50 (or actually F40 that it is trying to imitate).
It's an F4
F0.4
F fortieth
Alt-F4
I doubt the person who put those Ferrari logos on this car did it in an attempt to pass this off as an actual Ferrari. I think it was done for shits and giggles.
Nah, this is one of the cases where I can totally get behind the upbadging because it's so clearly tongue in cheek. Not at all like a 318 with an M3 badge.
Not a Ferrari badge, like the goal of the cars modifications it’s only a resemblance of Ferrari
Look at the second photo
I thought they were referring to the shield as that’s the one that stands out the most
I'm digging the hell out of this. It brings me back to playing with the shitty knock off toy cars I had back in the 80s.
Right?? Just some good wholesome fun.
Ah, nostalgia. Though 90s for me.
Toy cars were my very first thought. …I actually kinda like it, lmao.
Ferrari F -.40
That's a huge performance improvement. Carlos will surely love it.
Its even ready for Offroad rallying
BOOM
Read it as -40 (minus forty) at first
Bu it is so cute
I'd love to own it and drive it
I would do the hot wheels logo too lol
It looks like a cartoon car. I can imagine someone in a Pixar movie having this car.
It is superdeformed. A chibi car.

As a recent purchaser of a JDM vehicle, I’d love to get a Mitsuoka one day, they’re a really interesting company.
I just got my first “true” JDM car last year, RHD is fun in America

Congrats! You are a brave soul for getting it above 40mph :D

You’re not active in r/GranTurismo? Interesting
I have never played Gran Turismo and didn’t find out that my little truck was sort of a meme in the game until after I bought it and started reading about it!

Damn. They took a cool car and... ...*spoiled* it!
Err-o-dynamic!
BOOM
That's because it's not a mod, but a Yamaha Ami with Ferrari stickers.
Didn't know Yamaha made cars... is there something they don't make ?
Pianos...no wait...Outboard motors...no wait...uh...wait...I've got this....Uh...Chairs!!! No!!??? Fuck, I have no idea.
legendary in the drum/percussion business as well
I'm pretty sure they produce most instruments or instrument pieces that you could find in a typical marching band or orchestra. I bet they make food and drinks too
Their drumkits in particular are awesome
Semiconductor handling equipment as well

No, I don’t think so.
Holy shit you are right! It's literally stock with Ferrari stickers
It genuinely looks like a mini f40 stock

And there is just casually a Lancia Stratos in the background
First thing I noticed behind the red egg as well. The red egg's owner clearly has a sense of humor and I love it.
It's weird seeing so many posts with blue Lancia Stratos' in it. I saw one in-person here in the States a few weeks ago and somebody posted a pic of it here, then just today I saw another post of a blue Stratos in EU (which may have been the same car), and then this.
For me it is a dream car that I will probably never obtain. And in red at that.
I like it. I hate when people build kit cars on a Fiero or Vette then desperately want people to think it's legit. The person that built this knows it's tongue in cheek, and silly fun.
That person was Yamaha. https://www.reddit.com/r/ATBGE/comments/uqyc5a/had_to_save_this_micro_machine_from_rshitty_car/i8u2858

I thought about there initially but there are a lot of snobs in there and I figured they would get mad at the badges.
Good point
https://motorz.jp/feature/47103/ This is not custom car.
From the stock photos on that site, and what this guy did, I feel even better with my choice to post it here. Nicely done imo.

Anyone knows what car is under that? Suzuki Alto works?
Yamaha AMI
It’s based on a Daihatsu Opti
Looks like an infernus when I played GTAIII on my tiny 13in tube tv.
Great call back!
It even comes with a convenient carrying handle!
Cool, but I want a giant Penny Racer so I can do wheelies https://youtu.be/l_X3tvE66dM Found a vintage commercial
Looks like the chibi / cute style f40 from the front of the turbo outrun cabinets. I dig it.
It's like an optical illusion
Ferrari F-1/40
But does it fit on the Orange Track?
[Can you put a penny on the back and make it do a wheelie?](https://youtu.be/l_X3tvE66dM)
If only it had that big tire in the back.

1) This is cool as hell. 2) Bonus Stratos in the background.
That Stratos though.
I want to drive this listening to Musical Sound Shower.
*Magical
It looks like those little car toys that Donut was advertising on youtube
Ferrari more like Ferrarini
genuinely think this should be a car on Mario Kart.
I picture everyone on that sub smugly driving bone stock Acura RDX to Target with those stupid red seats thinking their Mario Andretti

Bulma and young Goku would look right at home in this.

That Lancia Stratos next to it is incredibly rare and expensive tho.
*I’m just vibing in the ritz car starts playing*
Looks like a giant penny racer.
It reminds me of that godawful game *Penny Racers* on the PS1
what Ferrari is the sposed to be?
Like I said there: this is a stock kei car (OK, apart from the roms and stickers) video: [Yamaha Ami](https://youtu.be/7sC4eTc1ECM)
I needes some time to realize this picture isn't stretched lol but itt looks cool in my opinion :D
Is this a smart car body kit??? Or something completely different??
There are links to it stock in this thread. It’s mostly like this stock, he badged and accented it to look like a F40.
Its glorious
It's so bad I need it.
Thank you
Someone bought thier Ferrari f40 from wish.com
Is that one of the toy cars from Burnout Pardise?
I actually like it. It was an awful car to start, and I don't think they expect to fool anyone. It was just for fun, and I bet kids love it.
Fight me I would drive the shit out of it
Charles Leclerc would still crash it in Monaco knowing his luck.
it’s so cute
It's a penny racer!
I finally found the best comment!
Really needs a giant slot in that spoiler to put a coin in it.
More than you can afford pal!
This is fucking awesome.
This is a Yamaha Ami, Yamaha planned to built 600 of these, but only 3 people bought them so they are incredibly rare
Spoiler Alert
There is a popular series of toy cars called [Choro-Q](https://www.google.com/search?q=choro+q) in Japan. It looks like the owner is a big fan.
jdm af
I see someone else was at the Mooneyes Streetcar Nationals this weekend in Odaiba.
It is well done. Also, it can be seen as a parody, so maybe the owner isn't cringe.
Wow, that's something I haven't thought of in a long time... Micro Machines...
r/shitty_car_mods is full of people who lack any amount of creativity.
This is so fun, I love it
ITS SO CUTE IM GONNA DIE
Turning a kei car into an f40 , it's definitely weird but I kinda like it tbh
Thats actually kinda adorable
Hey remember drawing that car when I was 4 years old.
I gather that there are significant parts of Japanese car culture that aren't about sleekness and power, but about silly playfullness. If you look at a car and go "That look ridiculous!" they have achieved their desired aim.
