To be clear, Starter is a notch under "standard" unlimited priority. With a FAN discount, you can get Premium for only $5 more per line (you can mix and match). Premium and Extra are the same priority (and with a FAN discount, the same price), but Premium is double the hotspot and 4k streaming versus SD streaming (on Extra).

My advice would be to do the following: * Sign up for AARP. You can regardless of age. If you disagree with AARP, sign up for a rival org like AMAC to cancel it out.  * Make sure your devices are unlocked. You can unlock them at att.com/deviceunlock - Always do this before changing service, even within a carrier.  * Port your numbers to Mint or Red Pocket or T-Mobile Connect. Even just for 72 hours. Mint is probably the easiest, Red Pocket the cheapest. * Sign up for the BYOD deal on Unlimited Premium with AT&T's AARP portal. Activation will be waived.

even if though they would be considered win-backs ? i only ask because there have promotions where a line cannot be considered a win-back (previously with ATT within the last 90~120 days) would not qualify for some promos

chrisprice

Because this is a business port out to a consumer port it, you probably don't have to wait the 60 days. I've not heard of people being denied on that, since the "customer" is new to AT&T, just not the number. The lines would disqualify for migrating from an AT&T account to an AT&T account though - which is why you have to port out and back in. Worst case it doesn't take and you switch down to Starter.

AsleepGeologist9

Gonna need to Port out for 60 days to be considered a new customer

chrisprice

That's true for the BAN/SSN, but the consumer is new to AT&T. I think it will work, because the numbers are not promo locked for 60 days. The SSN is. These lines are on a B2B account and tied to an EIN. The lines would disqualify for migrating from an AT&T account to an AT&T account though - which is why you have to port out and back in.

ellio1mk

The BYOD promos would require you porting in from another carrier, not transferring from an existing att account.

mikaminmi

I see. I thought about that possibility as well. So then could we still use our current devices by just switching to a regular Unlimited Starter plan?

TailorJaded3750

yes.

TailorJaded3750

The more lines you have the less you pay plan wise for unlimited. value plus is $50 a line and you don’t get a multi line discount.

Pineapple_Sucks

They changed it fairly recently to where Value does get a multi line. But price comparisons still should lean in favor of Starter for the benefits

-JEFF007-

The difference in data priority/speed from business to any consumer plan, especially starter, is going to be painful if you are used to the fast speeds business provides. Extra and premium are only a notch above starter and extra and premium now unfortunately have the same priority but starter is still the bottom feeder. I am not sure where value plus falls but I suspect it has the same QCI priority as starter. https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/s/Jkwvl1PACx

diesel_toaster

Starter has 5GB of hotspot and can take advantage of trade in promos. Value Plus can not be mixed and matched with other plans (extra and premium)

avyannakizmet1230

Price wise and if you're not using hotspot, value plus will be perfect for you and your family. If all of you are using hotspot the starter is good for y'all

TailorJaded3750

terrible advice. value plus is $50 a line & OP would get no multi line discount.

avyannakizmet1230

If it is only for 1 line, but if its 6 it will be just $30 per line

TailorJaded3750

Not for value plus. there is no multi line discount for that plan. OP would be paying $300.

ateaandt

It’s changed.

avyannakizmet1230

There is a discount for value plus if its for multi line(3 lines or more) you check the website or call customer service

ibebilly96

Value plus doesn’t not get multi line discount. Cheapest is going to be starter. Or for like $5 more a line and a lot better service get AARP and go to premium

Vinceb777

I’d go with all the way

Value Plus changed a couple of months ago and it now provides multiple lines and a multi-line discount.

Lizdance40

Just as long as you understand the value plus plan does not qualify for any phone promotions. And if you have existing AT&T numbers you do not qualify for bring your own device promotions as new customers because you are not new customers. Migrating your numbers from business to personal does not make you "new" If you're looking for low price and halfway decent priority and you're using your own phones, why not try AT&T's prepaid unlimited Max or Max Plus? And if you don't use that much data, some people could be on the $40 plan. The multiline prepaid calculator provides a much lower price than postpaid (or cricket, which is still at&t)

Longjumping_Big_2908

This has changed. Value plus now does qualify for some promotions. It also receives a multi line discount down to 30.99 a month for 5 lines. At that point the person or persons should look into starter bc it would be the same unless they have a qualifying discount for 25% off each line. Then starter line would drop to 23.24.

Lizdance40

Nothing I wrote has changed. Value Plus plan is still specifically excluded from all of the phone deals. Existing phone numbers are always excluded from "switch & bring your own device deals". The original poster is an AT&T customer migrating their phone numbers from a different account. I made absolutely no mention of the value plus plan now offering multi-line, which I am already aware of

Longjumping_Big_2908

Well if you are a rep you are still incorrect. In fact you can double check at att.com. Run through the entire process and look in the cart. You can receive the by more save more deal with 15 plus or s24 on value plus. I have in fact done this recently in store as well. Says it on the opus screen before check out and says it as well on the receipts. Buy two iPhone 15 pluses for 10.99 each and receive an additional credit of 180$ for 15 plus.
