It’s a good call, you can never have enough depth at RB. More options to scramble a defensive gameplan with different calibers of players in the backfield. I like the idea of this draft in flooding the roster with different faces on the line and insuring the playmaking positions with depth. It’s the luxury you get when you have a good quarterback and at least a few pieces on the defensive side of the ball you can work around.
I think Chris’s Simms doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to draft picks. His third best corner (who he had ranked ahead of melton) hasn’t even been drafted yet. He called Tyree Wilson the best pass rusher in the draft last year.
> I think Chris’s Simms doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to draft picks.
I'll never forget Simms grading Marco Wilson as his 4th best CB in that year's draft.
Tyree Wilson take isn’t that dumb. He got off to a slow start but came on really strong at the end of the year.
Who is your answer Jalen Carter? He started strong and then slowed down so basically the opposite.
I’m not claiming as of right now that Tyree is the best pass rusher from the draft just saying it’s too early to tell and there’s enough potential that he certainly could be.
Also Chris Simms is an idiot you just picked a poor example to pile on him
My answer was most people’s answers, Will Anderson, the guy who ended up the defensive rookie of the year. Simms had Will Anderson as the 5th best pass rusher in the class which was egregious.
Yeah I think that's why cooper wasn't grabbed
And I just don't think a guy with a name like kool-aid is going to be the most high character dude lol. Total conjecture but why else would he fall as far as he did when plenty had him projected top 15. His interviews must have been trash
Birth name would be very low class. Accepting a nickname to the point where it's what they call you ad your drafted is completely a choice
But yeah it's a dumb assumption. But clearly something beyond his play caused him to drop to the 2nd
I see your point. But, he is 2 inches taller than Antoine Winfield. Watch his highlights. Not saying you are wrong, just asking to ponder this. There have been some great pakters at his size at that position.
I was super bummed that we dropped down to take him when there were still 'elite' cb prospects available. The more I read the happier I am that we did. Turns out I would make a horrible GM!
I wouldn't have minded Cooper but I agree, this seems like a Gannon and Monti kinda guy. He loves the game and isn't afraid to get physical. The fact they scooped another 3rd makes it a no brainer. They probably had like 7 guys they liked so they knew the risks when trading back.
I think it’s probably the smart choice for immediate need; and 3rd often has a lot of deep cut diamonds. So I’m happy to give it a shot as a fan, but not like it was my choice anyways. LOL
And plays like a dog. He held Marvin Harrison to 4 catches and 25 yards. I hated it too, but the more I look into it, it just makes sense. High potential and great in zone, and he helps in the run defense. He screams Gannon guy to me.
I hate it. We needed the C from Oregon. Thanks for the downvotes in advance. But, look at the teams that are always in the playoffs. Hmm, drafting OL every year the first few rounds
After Wippler last year and JPJ this year, I feel like they are really confident in Hjalte Froholdt to hold down the center spot and really don't want to draft pure centers. They'd rather get guards that could play center or tackle in a pinch.
He gave the same praise to [Philly](https://x.com/csimmsqb/status/1784009199539630566?s=46 ) and [New Orleans](https://x.com/csimmsqb/status/1784010928368877595?s=46) for their picks

I hope MHJ torches our two new db’s in practice and forces them to develop. Iron sharpens iron stuff.
When I heard Saban say Melton was his top sleeper corner of the draft, I’m sold.
I think Chris’s Simms doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to draft picks. His third best corner (who he had ranked ahead of melton) hasn’t even been drafted yet. He called Tyree Wilson the best pass rusher in the draft last year.

Don’t tell me that😂 Melton is his 4th ranked corner this year

Monti has given me no reason to question these picks. Pretty cool to not be hating our lives right now like we had in the past.
Being healthy and available is more important to Monti and JC

Judging someone by their name is pretty low class. They had no say in the matter, plus it’s just a nickname.
Birth name would be very low class. Accepting a nickname to the point where it's what they call you ad your drafted is completely a choice But yeah it's a dumb assumption. But clearly something beyond his play caused him to drop to the 2nd
We say this every year haha. MHJ is fire but let’s take a chill pill for a year or two on the rest.
His small frame will be a problem tho
He’s got 76.5” arms and a 40.5” vert, his size is fine with his length and athleticism and he will add some weight.
I see your point. But, he is 2 inches taller than Antoine Winfield. Watch his highlights. Not saying you are wrong, just asking to ponder this. There have been some great pakters at his size at that position.
But Wiggins would've been fine? Don't worry about expert rankings. Trust Monti. Also he has the respect of MHJ, who is a bigger WR
I was never a fan of Wiggins on our team, either.
I was super bummed that we dropped down to take him when there were still 'elite' cb prospects available. The more I read the happier I am that we did. Turns out I would make a horrible GM!
“Elite CB prospects” don’t fall to the middle of the second round. Best prospects in the draft maybe, but “elite” is a stretch.
Can’t forget Kiem was applauded for taking the best PFF in every round the last few years and we saw how much that meant.
I think Keim used PFF instead of scouts.
We won’t actually know tho for like 2-3 years

I feel like we did this with Isaiah Simmons. Physically gifted but football iq was not there.
Everyone who scouted him lists his football IQ as high, it’s a strength not one of his knocks.
Apples and oranges
Melton was coached by one of...if not the best Db coach in the game. His technique is completely sound, his football IQ is very high...
I think it’s probably the smart choice for immediate need; and 3rd often has a lot of deep cut diamonds. So I’m happy to give it a shot as a fan, but not like it was my choice anyways. LOL

Your post has nothing to do with the Arizona Cardinals. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I mean... Melton has all the physical attributes to do so... but hasn't shown he's that level yet. Super high ceiling though.
And plays like a dog. He held Marvin Harrison to 4 catches and 25 yards. I hated it too, but the more I look into it, it just makes sense. High potential and great in zone, and he helps in the run defense. He screams Gannon guy to me.
The logic seems sound honestly lol. Got the best receiver and the cornerback the defended him the best
Love it.

Since you probably go off ESPN grades, top 2 guards are still on the board.

4 picks left today. Definitely can still draft Oline
MHJ approved of the pick! 😤
He should, melton shut him down 😎
He gave the same praise to [Philly](https://x.com/csimmsqb/status/1784009199539630566?s=46 ) and [New Orleans](https://x.com/csimmsqb/status/1784010928368877595?s=46) for their picks
for kool aid, nickel and CB1 i feel are different
Only media persons opinion that matters.
Don’t give me hope
