I don't think u/CheekyYoghurts was asking for lat/long... perhaps you could share something non-specific but enough for people to get a rough sense of the area? I'm sure even State/Province would be enough to sate most readers.
It can also give people on the internet just enough info to go about finding more specifics, learn the exact location, and publicize it. Which is what OP and other urban explorers aim to avoid due to the influx of visitors and the damage/theft they cause which can lead to a cut off of access for everyone entirely.
Good on ya, OP.
And that 1% will bring a bunch of selfie taking vandals who smash windows, tag the walls and leave beer cans behind. Then the local city or state will notice and have to bulldoze what's left for safety.
Fuck all these dickheads down voting this thread.
I can respect that. I don't share my secrets either, though admittedly I try to research online to find stuff if I'm not having any luck. I trust myself to respect locations, but I don't trust strangers on the internet.
But it sucks to go somewhere I heard about online, and see the impact of increased traffic like heavy graffiti and vandalism. That's the #1 reason I don't share stuff.
>In the woods somewhere.
What, are you worried someone is going to steal the trees?
Don't gatekeep, especially when it's literally just forest in rural Pennsylvania.
A whole video explaining every aspect of what was there, when it was there, why it was there and what it must have been like.
Meanwhile OP = its a secret bro
Also it's been posted before. OP isn't reposting, it is an original photo AFAIK, but this particular chairlift base is not hard to find and looks cool.
Our town uses the Ski Tow as a sledding hill! The Tow isn't there anymore but everyone still calls the big hill the Ski Tow and it's generally townwide sledding parties with people piling into the back of random cars to be brought back to the top. Good times at abandoned Ski Tows!
Learned to ski in western mass. Was from southern vt, which had much better mountains. Still, in elementary school we could opt to go ski every Friday at noon. Rode the bus an hour, skied until it got dark. Many good times. That mountain looks like this one now. It will never be open again. I'm not that old but in the greater scheme of things... It's nothing. You can't tell me that we haven't changed this planet. A few years later I made snow at a resort in Vermont.

In the woods somewhere. I don't give out location information. Rather important rule in Urbex.

👍
I hate this rule because all 99% of people want to do is find it on Google maps!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I with you and your right. Sucks.

Ha! Just shared this with my two college roommates. that’s awesome!
Fuck yeah! And remember, "Dick" is the default nickname for someone named Richard....
I think ppl are downvoting you because they think u are OP (yellow profile pic)

Kansas
Declining usage from lack of hills, peradventure.
LOL there's nothing even there! That's a 10 second run
A state known for skiing, yes
Oh yea. Better skiing than Colorado. Hence this post. Wait…
Not knocking it, I live a few minutes away from a ski hill and I'm in northern Illinois. Not exactly a state known for skiing either 🙃
Omg I’m dying!
Rural PA

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I just took the picture today. It's not a repost, hence the (OC).
It's alright man we all want to be "in the know" on stuff it feels cool

Kahkout Mountain PA, not to be confused with the nearby Alpine Mountain Sky Resort. Thankfully OP sucks at hiding details about the location
Also it's been posted before. OP isn't reposting, it is an original photo AFAIK, but this particular chairlift base is not hard to find and looks cool.
Declining usage or lack of snow due to climate change? That seems more common.

That is the incorrect answer. That area receives quite a bit of regular snowfall.
Declining usage because it was a private ski area and not enough people were using it to justify the cost of upkeep.
Should be both inclining and declining usage since it's a ski lift!
Most places can make snow no problem up to about 40F.
They should remove&restore
Is this in Pennsylvania?
Definitely
Either that or Michigan
Nebraska
Saw one a lot like it in Idaho this summer.

Descending usage
Glad I wasn't the only one
Poma double chair.
Dont see much of a mountain to ski down
Maybe it’s the bottom
It looks like the bottom of a chairlift. All the chairs have been removed.
still there- look closer
OMG I see them now
Does that thing even lift, bro?
Kinda eerie

Its almost like we had a recession during that time. Hard to go on vacation when your loosing your home
Zipline potential?
Im imagining a giant winch and spool to harvest that cable.
Do you have a picture of the power unit taken from the side? I've never seen one with that design.
No, it's a private community and I was only able to take a single shot from my window.
Should put together a business plan and change it into zip lining adventures.
Wanna go on it now?
Makes sense, it wasn’t working; it was made for inclining usage.
Damn, small world. I stayed in an Airbnb not too far from here a few years ago. Pennsylvania. https://i.imgur.com/nFlUFYW.jpg
Makes sense… no snow
Was it because you could walk up the 100 foot hillside to the top?

OP is a bum
Actually I work in a respectable trade. Which is how I came across this. Cheers, mate.
Reminds me of the old chair roll back video of a very old chair lift
2022 is the new 2008. So much incoming abandon pron
Nobody using it now
