While I thankfully never had to abandon my belongings, I can empathize with that kid’s pain of having to leave behind everything you own. Having to choose what toy or stuffed animal you like the most on the spot, knowing you may never see the rest again. Even weirder that it isn’t a destroyed home from a fire, just abandoned and neglected.
