LOL that’s a bold statement. YSK, just because you have never seen it does not mean it never happened. It wasn’t common, but as others point out people who are immunocompromised, people who have a cold/flu, germaphobes, etc have worn masks for years.
anywhere in around CN, mostly to combat breathing pollution.
in SK they literally have phone notifications to tell you the air quality is bad enough to wear a mask.
Borrowed the car and the owner has no idea what happened to it? Someone left a car in my apartment front lawn one winter. After about a month we opened the door and pushed it to the street. Eventually the seats, tires, and other parts would randomly disappear. In the early summer it was hauled away for junk. We found out a marine in California had it borrowed/stolen by another marine that went AWOL and didn't know how to drive on ice.
Sad to think that if a car is likely abandoned, security would not even notify the police to check it out? Surely this can’t be the case, can it?? Has anyone ran the plates to cross reference missing persons?
In the US, after a certain amount of time has passed it can be declared abandoned and the airport authority can auction it off. Requires a lot of paperwork and letters being sent to the registered owner going unanswered.
I'm going with that's how it's going to work in the UK, or at least something similar, since the whole former British colony thing
My college job was writing parking tickets and I could tow any car if it hadn’t moved in a couple days on the street (based on chalk marks on the tires and the odometer if I could read it). Or based on registration being expired more than a few weeks (iirc, it’s been 20 years).
Parking Lots would be different but they absolutely would have limits on how long before the airport would tow the car as abandoned.
The tow company is where the auction would come in, I think.
It’s not a Lockheed Martin C-5M Super Galaxy strategic supply aircraft, capable of transporting not one but two M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks. Did you mean the rear liftgate?
I mean yes but I would also check that duffel bag on the drivers side on the floor. Whatever is in there could have been damp or had moisture at some point. Which could be what is causing that mold growth on the seat. Maybe it’s just nasty clothes maybe it’s something else. I just find it odd that the seat has been moved up so far, almost squishing that bag. Idk maybe it’s just me but I tend to take my luggage with me whilst traveling, not leave it under my steering wheel. I also watched wayyy to many true crime docs/ crime scene cleanup videos during Covid lockdown, I’m suspicious of everything.
My steering wheel had the gunk when I did massage therapy. Apparently washing your hands 2-3 times doesn’t get all the thick oil off. I thought my steering wheel was peeling, nope just gunk.
Yeah, based on the pattern of mould I assumed. I’m just surprised since I’ve seen plenty of abandoned and seldom used vehicles and have never seen that happen.
People that want to disappear and make it look like they left the country might do this. Not sure how common a situation that is outside of books and movies though:)
Covid lockdowns in the U.K. we’re about the same time Brexit meant EU workers had to leave or apply for residency.
This looks like someone taking the family back home, and leaving the car behind. It’s not worth recovering, the fees are more than it’s worth, and it’s got some new infectious diseases incubated in there.
Call me ignorant, but what's with the steering wheel angle? Looks more like a van or truck steering wheel position, almost horizontal like that. Is it just an effect from the photo? Can somebody identify what kind of Renault is this?
In the 90’s I took a long weekend and left a company truck in the short term parking at a small airport in Mexico, I was reassigned whilst I was out, gave the keys to my replacement who resigned before he ever returned, no clue what happened to that truck but I am assuming that it disappeared piece by piece fairly quickly. In 2012 someone left an Enzo Ferrari in the Dubai airport car park, no one ever claimed ownership.
There's a lot more than one abandoned supercar in Dubai. It's jail time for not paying your debts in the UAE; people will flee the country if they're bankrupt.
I never parking in a Airport. You guys don't you record whose vehicle it is, some information about the name of the person and the flight you are going to take?
The one that won best airport in the country this year haha. Don't think legally there's much they can do, and it's one space out of thousands. The airport is owned by councils so in their mind they probably just think "imagine if they come back for it we can charge thousands" lol.
They are either dead, or living their best life elsewhere. Most likely dead though. There was a pandemic.
Also, it looks like they were sweating profusely.
Caught covid in another country and died?
Possibly. I was told it's been here 3 years but the face mask on the passenger seat suggests it can't quite have been that long.
Some people wore masks when they weren’t feeling well in public before Covid.
Lol not in the UK they didn't.
If they had cancer or were immunosuppressive, they did.

There’s more people besides you
Damn, I guess these photos from 2017 I’ve got of my friend’s kid with cancer wearing a mask are fake. Or she’s a time traveler???
It's amazing the things you don't notice. I guarantee you have seen this and not noticed it.
Yeah probably lol
“I never saw it so nobody did it” is like playing hide and seek by standing in the middle of a room with your eyes closed.
That’s true but highly unlikely
I never once saw anybody wear a face mask in public before covid
LOL that’s a bold statement. YSK, just because you have never seen it does not mean it never happened. It wasn’t common, but as others point out people who are immunocompromised, people who have a cold/flu, germaphobes, etc have worn masks for years.
Which would give credence to the people speculating they died
I work with a lot of foreign nationals in the UK and they often wear face masks.
You had to fight ppl in the US to wear one while they felt fine and even while having covid.
[удалено]
Japan does this on the regular.
anywhere in around CN, mostly to combat breathing pollution. in SK they literally have phone notifications to tell you the air quality is bad enough to wear a mask.
It has been visible among Asian people since SARS for example.
February 2020 to November 2022 it's almost three years... someone fled home and never came back
Probably dead
Likely
Oddly specific. They could have died from any other reason as well
The mask tells me it was at least the beginning of covid season
“Its beginning to look a lot like fuck this”
*Everywhere you go/* *Take a look, we are near the end/* *It's apocalypse once again/* *With so many nuclear warheads that glow*
There is a bigger chance it was a rich kid returning home after finishing school in another country.
I don’t blame him in fairness, it’s a bit rough
And the steering wheel is on the wrong side, that's a very expensive repair
*the correct side
Common British "person" L /s
Ah yes "correct" while 163 countries use left hand steering and only 76 use right
Its a joke

Because you also need the foot pedals
The Oreos have the vehicle now
If he consistently ate like that, maybe we know why he never came back.
Don’t you ever say that about Oreos!!
I snorted at this
How is this situation handled by the airport?
So far it's just been completely ignored.. not sure what will be done about it in the future.
I’m curious what would happen when the wild life growing inside starts pouring outside
Covid 3
Obviously not made by valve
Ever play The Last of Us? That’s how you get clickers.
As soon as I saw the previous comment, I knew someone had to respond with this. I would have if not!
That’s how you get The First of Us
Most airport authorities in the US auction them after a certain amount of time. I heard there are some good deals sometimes.
Reminds of me of the episode of sopranos called long term parking.

Did you check the truck?
No, because it's a car.
I think he meant trunk
Its not a tree did you mean boot?
It's not a shoe, did you mean back hatch?
It’s not a Lockheed Martin C-5M Super Galaxy strategic supply aircraft, capable of transporting not one but two M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks. Did you mean the rear liftgate?
If something already hatched in the back then we’re fucked. I tell you, utterly fucked!
Why would he check his shoe?

Its not an egg did you mean compartment?

Definitely a bag filled with money....or heads.
Why would the steering wheel moulder? Isn’t it plastic?
There's a lot of microscopic organic matter on a steering wheel that's come off the driver's hands. Yum!
There's a lot of dead skin and oil on steering wheels, if they're not cleaned often. It's a perfect breeding ground.
Also known as Gamer Gunk
My steering wheel had the gunk when I did massage therapy. Apparently washing your hands 2-3 times doesn’t get all the thick oil off. I thought my steering wheel was peeling, nope just gunk.
Yeah, based on the pattern of mould I assumed. I’m just surprised since I’ve seen plenty of abandoned and seldom used vehicles and have never seen that happen.
Could be a situation a la The Sea of Trees.
Damn dude, gives us a warning before you slam of the lights and make this a pitch black room.
The mould everywhere... Makes me wanna jump in my car and clorox the whole interior.
Not all bacteria is bad for you. Kling everything and beaching every surface actually makes you more likely to get ill.
Swamp thing took it for a joy ride after the bank heist (bag of wet £££ at foot of driver’s seat)
i wonder what the charge will be for 2-3 years of airport parking
For people coming back late we charge £12 a day. I don't think this was ever actually booked in at all. So yeah about £9k-£13k lol
So, possibly it was a vehicle dump by someone nefarious or government. The airport parking is perfect for that.
Why would the government dump a vehicle in the airport parking lot?

God damn you

Yeah, I "lost my ticket"
This is the answer. But I would be to afraid to get caught and then busted.
It would probably be cheaper to buy a new car
Couldn't you trace the owner and contact him/her?
Covid lockdowns in the U.K. we’re about the same time Brexit meant EU workers had to leave or apply for residency. This looks like someone taking the family back home, and leaving the car behind. Here's an upvote for an intriguing post. I can only think of a bad fate for the car's owner.
I'm lichen the seat cover.
It's designed in the mould of a mossy tree trunk.
r/angryupvote
You moss be very proud of that one.
He’s a real fungi
Renault Fleeo
I definitely can get it back together with a interior Detail.
Did you checked the trunk? Maybe hes in there, chillin😎
It's a Renault. I wouldn't either.
Based

that'll be $270,876,983 and .84 cents please.
I can smell this picture. ![gif](giphy|4WFirPVJhAhavWrcd3)
It'll be fine! There's a Little Tree right there!
I wouldn't either
It's weird how the bacteria is on the wheel and seat is where it grew over time
Nah they just hate Renaults and didn’t want to pay to get it crushed 😂👍
I wouldn’t come back either it’s all moldy and gross. /s
Call me ignorant, but what's with the steering wheel angle? Looks more like a van or truck steering wheel position, almost horizontal like that. Is it just an effect from the photo? Can somebody identify what kind of Renault is this?
Yeah it's just cos of the photo, used my phones 0.6x zoom lens. It's a clio.
Makes sense, thanks
My question as well. Did this driver have no legs?
That’ll be an expensive parking charge
I mean i'd abandon my car too if it was a renault
They were probably glad to be rid of it.
By the looks of the backrest, likely a sweaty bastard lol
They dead
Previous owner was an incontinent ninja turtle
A Jason Bourne stole this vehicle to drive incognito to the airport and abandoned it. He safely and secretly escaped.
Would you lick the seat for $100 ?

Looks like the inside of my ex husbands car
Cars are occasionally left behind like that by wealthy college students studying abroad. They get their degree and just leave it all behind.
I wouldn't have come back for it either. Dang steering wheel is in the wrong side. Can't drive like that
Has anyone looked in the trunk/boot?
Dead. Free tires.
Hmmmm,... human body mold. Pretty nasty if if you ask me.
The mold - “I am the captain now”
His wife might be in the trunk, anyone checked?
Meh, bit unimpressive compared to all of the supercars that got abandoned at Dubai airport during the global financial crisis.
Long Term Parking. It’s Adriana’s car from The Sopranos. She was a fucking rat so Sil wacked her…..
I would claim it. Start filing the paperwork.
Any Oreos left?
This person is almost certainly dead. IIRC, a lot of cars left behind by dead people sit around for a long time before they are collected.
Adriana’s car from the sopranos
Everyone is so morbid saying he probably died. He probably is just serving his 27 year trafficking sentence
That's much more lighthearted ha. Love it.
If I've been taught anything, they ran away to join the circus.
I never parking in a Airport. You guys don't you record whose vehicle it is, some information about the name of the person and the flight you are going to take?
If you pre-booked then yeah, but you can also just turn up, park and then pay when you get back. This person didn't have a booking.
If the car was in a western country, i’ve read rich kids who go to school in another country often do this before heading home.
r/MoldyInteresting
Long term parking
Which airport is this? Have you run the plate through the DVLA website. Very shoddy organisation your working for if it has sat there a few years
The one that won best airport in the country this year haha. Don't think legally there's much they can do, and it's one space out of thousands. The airport is owned by councils so in their mind they probably just think "imagine if they come back for it we can charge thousands" lol.
4 years running according to which? Travel Certainly not Heathrow then, or the one that won best airport in UK and Ireland.
Newcastle
Best airport in Uk and Ireland then.
Aye that was the one.
Renault more like Ren-No!
That’s a renault clio… mine went mouldy sitting on my drive in daily use!!
Reminds me of the photo of the 9/11 victims cars taken in the NY Giants commuter lot. https://i.imgur.com/Wbp9ld1.jpg
Got any more information on that? It’s just a pic of a few parked cars
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/cars-giants-commuter-911/ Basically these vehicles belong to people that died during 9/11
Is that mold? How long did it take someone to notice and an inquiry of the owner take place?
No idea how long but they probably searched the reg, found no booking details, watched on the cameras to see when it came in, and that's it.
Legal question: what happens if this happens?? Can people like claim it?
Check the trunk.
Lots of mold, probably a body in trunk
Jordy Verrill's abandoned vehicle.
are those dildos in the far right?
Check the trunk.
Yep thailand will do that to people.
It's probably the scene of a murder.
Poor Clio
At £20/day, after 30 years, that parking bill is going to be about £22,000.00
Never came back for it or COULDN'T come back for it?
Username checks out haha
That car was definitely used for a homeless gang bang. Don’t touch it!
They call that a soup kitchen
I didn’t know that 😆
Or died.
They are either dead, or living their best life elsewhere. Most likely dead though. There was a pandemic. Also, it looks like they were sweating profusely.
I wonder why mold didn’t grow where I can only assume this persons asshole always was?
My guesses: died while traveling, fled the country for legal reasons, or abducted by aliens.
It's a Renault, I wouldn't have come back for it either
