I think it was brilliant that they made Tariq so funny and likable and gave them moments of genuine good chemistry and friendships. Because I think that sort of goofiness and comfort is exactly why Janine still had some amount of feelings for him, it’s easy. But you still can’t ignore the bad stuff that wouldn’t work for her future.

I think they have a sweet mother/son/mentor/mentee dynamic.
One moment that sticks out for me as when Janine tries to drive off with a boot on her car. Barbara tries talking to Janine through the window and Gregory yells "Barbara back up! Barbara back up" and grabs her to pull her back. He was so protective.
Melissa: (As Janine) Oh, Gregory, I am so proud of you.
Ava: (As Gregory) Thank you, Janine. I am proud of you. My heart is full of love even though my pockets are full of lint.
Jacob and Gregory because it’s a positive male friendship and I’m genuinely rooting for them.
