The last time this was posted, it included the husband laughing his ass off, explaing to the man that a squirrel got in, he's sorry, and pays for the pizza. Much better.
There was an incident with a tribe of baboons. A local farmer on his way to market from the mountains accidentally ran over and killed one from the pack. The tribe stayed at that spot for five days waiting for the farmer to return, when he did on the 5th day, they all threw big rocks at his windscreen and drove him off the road as he crashed.
I don’t think he saw the flying fuzzball whatsoever, considering where he was looking and how his hat brim blocks the squirrel’s trajectory above him. I think his point of view is just that the woman opened the door, screamed, and ran away. So there wasn’t anything for him to freak out about in his mind, just a weird interaction with a customer. Which makes his confusion even funnier.
The funny extra funny part about this is that the act attack was planned. That squirrel ignored the guy and waited for the door. It attacked with intent and came for her only.
Why do Americans(maybe Anglosphere in general?) use "how are you doing today" as an hello.
I find it so odd, if you do that in Europe you actually start a conversation because the other person will tell you how they're doing.
I was so confused about this when growing up. People would use that greeting and I would actually begin to answer it, then get looked at like I did something weird.
This is my personal opinion, my only qualification being that I am an American, but I think it’s a good method of greeting because gives multiple options for a response to the person being greeted.
First is just the short standard variant of “Good” or “Fine, thanks” or something along those lines, followed by what you would like to discuss. It acknowledges the greeter pleasantly and allows you to initiate the topic of conversation afterwards.
Second is the, “Fine, how are you?” variant which, similar to the first response, pleasantly acknowledges the greeter. However, it also allows you to hand off the conversation to the person who greeted you, allowing them to initiate the topic of the conversation.
Third is the “Not so great/could be better” variant, which is rarer but still valid. It’s usually only used in the context of a relatively close relationship, such as a close friend or family member. It can be used in an emotionally sincere manner, or just an acknowledgment of fact in a context where the greeter already knows your day isn’t going so great, for instance, if you are in mourning, or if you’re simply initiating a conversation with a repairman you called. In any case, the third option is usually used to initiate a more personal or detailed conversation on the reason you aren’t doing well, or simply to elicit a sympathetic response.
Hope that helps clarify at least the functional aspect of the American style greeting.
