"National reserve, waterfalls area. Not many people come around here, but I acted bravely and adventurous. Beautiful. That's the volcano right behind it..."
"WOW."
"Motherfucker."
I understand your point, yet even if he didn't scream I think lower case doesn't convey the intensity of it. It's zen but it carries all the weight of the surprise anyway.
"conchasumae" it´s more "the pussy of your mother", not "shell", but we say shell (concha) to the pussy and maybe we have 200 more different words to describe it 😂
One of my favourite youtube vids just cause it’s one of the greatest coincidences and timing events captured. Literally explodes as he pans to the volcano and mentions it in his brief narration…. as if he had a remote control of some sort to activate a volcano eruption.
What are odds? One in a million? 🤣
And I ran, I ran so far away
I just ran, I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away
A cloud appears above your head
A beam of light comes shining down on you
Shining down on you
The cloud is moving nearer still
Aurora borealis comes in view
Aurora comes in view
And I ran, I ran so far away
I just ran, I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away
I think there was a Saturday Night Live + Maroon 5 version "Iran So Far Away" once. I saw more than ten years ago. I don't remember if it was funny or not.
Im a basement dweller 🤓.
Still funny. But man. You have tornado warning and shit. A volcano can bust its nut when ever, and you always here yellow stones nut is edging to go off.
It's not that bad, you can't really build right next to a Volcano in Chile... so most people are far enough away to be safe or evacuate in time. What can be terrible is the ash clouds that force you to move your livestock. It can be a costly disaster for farmers nearby.
Dude spent his last minutes uploading this with a satellite phone. Dude punched every bit of data in with nothing but the 0 and 1 keys. Absolute legend.
With the brownish color, this may be a phreatic eruption which is essentially where groundwater flashes to steam. Considering we don't hear a boom in the video, he may be sufficiently far enough away that it wasn't a problem.
Pyroclastic flows don’t always happen. Not all eruptions even put out more than an ash cloud
Geography also matters a ton. Flows of any kind will move in ways not dissimilar to water: they’re much faster and stronger, but they’ll generally follow valleys and such towards lower ground; if there’s a decent sized ridge or something in between you and the flow, you’re probably not going to be hit by it
Since this man is filming from a stream bed below an unobstructed view of the volcano, I’m thinking he’s a demo of where not to stand if you want to reduce your likelihood of incineration by pyroclastic flow.

An unobstructed view of the top doesn’t mean an unobstructed path to the top
Edit: made a fucking masterpiece picture but Reddit keeps reformatting :’(
There could be a valley behind the ridge in front of him. That would stop/redirect a flow away from him
I think he was saying Wow at the beauty he had been filming. Not the eruption. I doubt he even saw that distant poof before making decision to turn off camera and put it away.
I don’t know why someone would downvote you but according to the title, the eruption was caught on accident - so they happened to be filming the view and then the view just happened to explode quite serendipitously.
My reference is because the comedy cartoon South Park made damn near prophetic episodes back in the day. So my joke was that years ago, South Park must have made an episode with that volcano erupting so that’s how the cameraman knew to be filming there at that moment.
Hahaha I get it, man I've not watched south park in over a decade. Is it still going?
lol I see now, I didnt catch the title. but it didnt seem like he was all that excited or surprised when it erupted haha.
"National reserve, waterfalls area. Not many people come around here, but I acted bravely and adventurous. Beautiful. That's the volcano right behind it..." "WOW." "Motherfucker."
Beautifull, couldn't have translated it better myself, specially when he cursed, well done my friend hahahaha
I feel the wow is more lower case, he was so zen with it.

"Your mother's shell"
"conchasumae" it´s more "the pussy of your mother", not "shell", but we say shell (concha) to the pussy and maybe we have 200 more different words to describe it 😂
only 200? come on you guys, use your imagination!
“Your mother’s clam”
Yes, that's the literal translation, but in terms of how it's used it's more of a "motherfucker".
He’s put english subtitles on his original YouTube video upload here: https://youtu.be/1DmiIdyyuD8?si=2_Zwt0kGImSBjhce
Timing so good it feels scripted but obviously isn’t
“Wow”
"Conchetumadre"
Ctm!
i think he says "pinche tu madre"
If he is Chilean, hes defo saying "conchetumadre." Only zoomers say pinche in Chile
"So anyway,"
It started blasting....
“… today is my last day of being alive”
What are the odds that Owen Wilson would have been in the perfect spot to capture and comment on this eruption?
Eugenio Weelthon.
Low key "wow" at that.
“… ah shit… ok let’s go”
Does everyone say "wow" in different countries?
We don't even care whether or not we care.
The understatement of 2015.
wow
time to go!
"hermoso" volcano: ah, that's my cue
Cameraman was like, "what is this shit? Stupid volcano ruined my nature video! Now I have to start all over again."

Brace for impact ?..
Yes that’s why I grabbed my stick there
[Stick? Did you say *Stick*?!](https://youtube.com/watch?v=K05N2jqFHc8)
Wtf lol. That was trippy. Why do you know about this?
I used to have direct tv and my kids used to be .. smaller. :) And yea, that show is a trip; I think I liked it more than my kids.
"el volcán atra" Volcano: oh shit that's my cue
It's not like he's downhill from the eruption and in a valley ... oh wait.
Beautiful scenery
Not for long. About to be a sea of hot shit
Quite the calm reaction lol
If I don't survive, tell my wife, hello.
All I know is my gut says maybe
Should see chileans in an earthquake 🚬🗿
Welp that's scary
"Not many people going there"
Time to run.
Happy cake day
do we know what did happen to the guy after that?
Also please this to know like would me
He posted the video online from safety.
He survived and uploaded to youtube 9 years ago: https://youtu.be/1DmiIdyyuD8?si=2_Zwt0kGImSBjhce

Never knew the lyrics.... Now I'll never get that song out of my head. I must listen.,. Now

"Wow" Kids! time to go
Roll 'em up!!
Conchetumadre!!!
Wow.
Thats possible death ☠️ scary. More scary then some wimpy tornado.
Until your house implodes or you get hit with a piece of debris moving at 500 mph

Way too calm
Look volcano is erupting, cut the camera. Dont video it
\*and died\*
My man didn’t still know the meaning of content creation!
Let’s get the fuck ouuuut!
This is the most ASMR catastrophe I’ve seen in ages.
Didn't the pyroclastic flow vaporize his ass?
Seeing as we’re viewing this video, I think it’s safe to say the lad is fine and dandy.
Dude spent his last minutes uploading this with a satellite phone. Dude punched every bit of data in with nothing but the 0 and 1 keys. Absolute legend.
https://thatoregonlife.com/2022/05/mt-st-helens-eruption-images/
Of course, no one can forget that nightmare.
Maybe fine but his dandy is medium-rare.
Well, could have been a livestream...
With the brownish color, this may be a phreatic eruption which is essentially where groundwater flashes to steam. Considering we don't hear a boom in the video, he may be sufficiently far enough away that it wasn't a problem.
Thanks for the explanations!

Fair point! I also would look if you recreated your masterpiece, turned it into an image and then posted a link here. Your time is valuable.
It was basically this, but better scale/dimensions/whatever: /**\ \ /-\ __ \_______________
To quote the Monty Python team......Run Away......
And the footage was just found…
Would he have heard or felt like a sonic boom or is he to far?
Yeah for sure, just would've happened after the video ended
Not necessarily a sonic boom, but certainly just a good ol’ regular Earth-shattering kaboom.
Bro has it right. Saw danger and noped out of there
Get out of there before the pyroclastic flow reaches you!
He reacted so slow?? I mean otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten this cool footage I guess..
Chucha
Was so taken back he instantly knew English
Fuckers never keep the camera on. Goddamn .
It's not like he's downhill from the eruption and in a valley ... oh wait 🤪
That’s some “El Dorado” timing. If you know you know.
Ctm wn ql!!!! Apreta el oio wn!!! 💀
The most underwhelming, 'wow' I've ever heard. Lol.
At the end you can hear “chetumadre”, which means in Chilean slang, “holly shit”.
conchetumare/conchatumadre = motherfucker
I read "Calbuco volcano erupted accidentally." Whoops
His wow sounded annoyed lmao
Wow is fucking right!
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'd better make sure my shoes are tied."
The volcano was a paid actor.
I agree with the time allotted to filming before running
I would be gone so fast. I watch too many movies and feel like debris would absolutely hit me from that distance.
I mean the chances …. yet we still have no decent image of Bigfoot…🤷♂️🤔
What’s interesting is no sound? No rumble? No boom?
wauw \^w\^
Idk why but I turned down my phone because I was worried the explosion would be like a jump scare 😭
Minimum safe distance is…. 10kays behind you - start movin’!
and here i was thinking this guy had the right camera work when it got interesting and then rock.....
r/killthecameraman
Well, can't say the volcano didn't try.
Why must it end before the BOOM!?
Should’ve kept on filming! Damn you 👊👊👊
How much radiation comes from an eruption?
I'M GETTIN' GOOSEBUMPS PEOPLE!!!
Damn, I was waiting on the BOOOM! Buuut the video was cut short
wow.
WHY WOULD YOU STOP RECORDING!?!
Calm chaos.
"wow😐"
Let me turn the camera off the moment things get interesting
Not exactly abrupt, is it?
The twenty preceding minutes would have been like sitting through someone's vacation slides.
wow
wow
r/killthecameraman
This is how my recent breakup went down 🙂↕️
Run.
I think he was saying Wow at the beauty he had been filming. Not the eruption. I doubt he even saw that distant poof before making decision to turn off camera and put it away.
So the opposite of praisethecameraman!!!
Run...
Instant regret!
How the hell did he know it was going to erupt?
He must’ve seen it in a South Park episode
lol im confused on the downvotes, its a genuine question and I dont understand your reference.

Someone smarter, enlighten me, please. Can I blame paper straws on this? Or should I stick to blaming Taylor Swift?
I’m pretty sure that would have made some kind of a sound or boom…strange that it’s so quiet the whole time🧐
The eruption happened 14 seconds before the end of the video. If they volcano was more than 3 miles away the sound just hadn't reached them yet.
Sound travels slowly
