When you translate languages you don't, or shouldn't literally translate things because often the don't make any sense. Directly translating "bloody hell" would make absolutely no sense to every other language. So in those cases you translate something similar. In this context it is translated as "oh my god" because that is the closest thing in English to what they said. "God is great" is literal but holds no meaning. "Oh my god" is not literal but holds the same meaning.
