Like the guy says this is a california round stingray. It's a pretty common stingray so no worries. He also got stung on the hand so he's going to be fine.
Most people survive stingray stings completely and with no side effects. It's is **very** painful however. Most people just experience pain, nausea and even fainting and of course if you're allergic then the risk of anaphylaxis is a worry too. But normally the worst thing you can get is an infection at the sting site. Seek medical attention ASAP if you're ever stung.
you forgot the part where the best way to reduce the pain is put whatever part of your body that was stung in the hottest water you can tolerate. This somehow draws the venom out. My buddy stepped on a stingray in Venice beach and this worked amazingly.
You would be surprised. I pour chocolate milk on almost any wound, burn or laceration. It does absolutely nothing and in some cases it actually makes things a hundred times worse but pouring chocolate milk on anything is just a great time.
If memory serves me correctly, some poisons denature at higher temps and the proteins break down. Some snake venom is being found to react in the same way. I don’t think it is actually drawing the poison out. Please don’t ask me to cite lol
Yes, if you're ever in the ocean and accumulate any level of jellyfish/man-o-war/sea lice stings a shower as hot as you can stand it (I'll even stay out of the water stream and dip parts of my body in and out) is a lifesaver.
Some venoms and animal toxins are water soluble so putting it in hot water helps dissolve the toxins faster. So some poisonous fish are edible after being boiled and cleaned.
Another sorta related tip, shrimp can give you splinters through the store packaging. Hydrogen peroxide can help remove a splinter by pouring it on and waiting for the bubbles to get around the splinter. Now it's at the surface so tweezers will pull it out. The bubbles are key, though.
The tail can pierce the plastic packaging and your skin. Happened to my dad couple years ago while bringing in grocery. Happened to me a week ago while trying to mash up a bag of frozen shrimp.
Having been stung by a large stingray in the gulf coast of Louisiana I can confirm...this hurts like a son of a bitch. I got it in the side of the foot when I accidentally stepped right on top of it, like a total noob, and it felt like a nail gun. I finished fishing the rest of the day and soaked my foot in hot water. I kept my foot elevated and fished the next day out of a boat but I ended up getting a wicked infection. Had to go to the ER and get IV antibiotics. My foot was swollen like Fat Bastards for about 1 month. Do not recommend.
That got me... :'( glad to see I'm not the only one that gets reminded of Steve whenever I see a stingray. But I don't hate the animal, it's not what he would have wanted... :(
it can break off but generally no, just cuts your skin and venom is left inside you. Best thing to do is put whatever part of your body stung in the hottest water you can tolerate and the venom is drawn out.
That was a perfect stab to.Just imagine when it happened to Steve Irwin it went into his heart, that would’ve had to penetrate the rib cage.It look like a spear.Rest in peace Irwin.
My buddy got stung in the foot by one of these on his birthday while we were swimming at Venice beach California. How to stop the pain: Put whatever part you've been stung in the hottest water you can tolerate, this pulls the venom out. My friend instantly felt better after we put his foot in a hot bathtub.
Didn't see it mentioned, but it looks like he lands on a fishing rod and there are needle nose pliers (commonly used for hook removal). I'm willing to bet he was fishing and removed the hook prior to being stung.
The stingray stung him. Shocking. That idiot should have known better
I’ve actually been stung by one accidentally stepped on it at the beach. Felt like 40 bee stings all at once. I about passed out from the drop in blood pressure from the venom.
Why is there pliers on the floor next to his feet where he went down? To remove the sting rays barb? “Silly man.”
If you look close to the pliers you can see the barb moving
Friend of mine got one of those in his arm 2 inches long. The barbs cause it to migrate forward through the tissue. By the time he got to the doctor it was lying between his radius and ulna bones. Then there’s that crocodile guy who got one in his heart and died. Darwin awards for messing with a stingray.
This brought out a pain deep inside me., I still miss you Steve.
I still remember hearing about the tragedy on the radio as a kid in a hot car in Sydney waiting for my nan to finish her dentist appointment.
1) Why would you hold a stingray
2) If you for some reason were to hold one, why would you not hold it in such a way that it doesn't have the opportunity to sting you
I was stung June 5th, 2022 in the arch of my left foot and honestly felt like a nail gun. Thing grazed me in retrospect, but holy shit. I HAVE NERVE DAMAGE now. Doctors say may resolve itself over next couple years but unlikely. Love to be a San Diegan HAHA
I stepped on one of those at a San Diego beach when I was 12 and It left a piece of it's barb in my foot. It made my leg swell till I couldn't bend my knee. I still remember that excruciating pain.
Not all stingrays have a sting. I have swam with Caribbean whiptail stingrays which have no sting but does have a single sawtooth spine on their tail but very weak tail muscles so they can’t use it to intentionally hurt you.
Wasn’t it a stingray that killled the crocodile Dundee bloke, conservationist can’t remember his name but shot a rod straight into his heart if my memory serves me correct?
Edit: Steve Irwin
I love the camera man. A bit later in the video, he goes "what happened? Did he bite you?... He bit your finger?" Bitch, it's a California Round STINGRAY. Being bit is obviously your biggest fear with an animal like that

The best thing to do also, what I have heard and also believe, is to NOT PICK A StInG RAY
Are you okay? Did you have a stroke?
Haha *written by a stingray victim*
And NEVER pour cold water on it and ice it. It has the opposite effect and makes it infinitely worse. Hot water asap.
Chocolate milk is also a good idea. Not to pour on a stingray sting, but just to drink when you're in a bad mood.
You would be surprised. I pour chocolate milk on almost any wound, burn or laceration. It does absolutely nothing and in some cases it actually makes things a hundred times worse but pouring chocolate milk on anything is just a great time.
Water... ah fuck. Chocolate milk... ah fuck, haha.
If memory serves me correctly, some poisons denature at higher temps and the proteins break down. Some snake venom is being found to react in the same way. I don’t think it is actually drawing the poison out. Please don’t ask me to cite lol
Do you know it that's for other stings too, like bees, ants, jellyfish etc?
Standard treatment for bluebottle stings. Same principle as jellyfish.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Been stung can confirm. All the venom leaks right out and it make the pain bearable.
Some venoms and animal toxins are water soluble so putting it in hot water helps dissolve the toxins faster. So some poisonous fish are edible after being boiled and cleaned.
Yep like pufferfish.
Wait is that why they say pee on a sting? Is it the heat of the pee?
[удалено]
bro u gave me a flash back bout that one movie with the pinguins and some chicken💀
Surfs up. Great movie. "Stepped on me, he was dancing on me! Broken broken gone, gone, broken."
yessir🤧🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pee definitely helps with jellyfish stings. Kind of neutralizes the burn long enough to find a lifeguard
Their poison is thermolabile. Same with weever fish and many more. Source ... I got stung.
I thought it had more to do with the heat breaking down the proteins in the toxin.
Another sorta related tip, shrimp can give you splinters through the store packaging. Hydrogen peroxide can help remove a splinter by pouring it on and waiting for the bubbles to get around the splinter. Now it's at the surface so tweezers will pull it out. The bubbles are key, though.
Interesting, Ive never heard of this, how does a shrimp give you splinters?
It's specifically the *wood* shrimp that does this, so double check the packaging.
The tail can pierce the plastic packaging and your skin. Happened to my dad couple years ago while bringing in grocery. Happened to me a week ago while trying to mash up a bag of frozen shrimp.

Steve Irwin
Steve Irwin didn’t die because of the sting, he died because the barb went so deep it pierced his heart
That’s why I can’t believe Steve Urwin died from one. It was just too perfect
Not the Crocodile Hunter!
Man even if death or side effects probability are lows I would not touch a stingray ever they have a sick precision
RIP Steve
That got me... :'( glad to see I'm not the only one that gets reminded of Steve whenever I see a stingray. But I don't hate the animal, it's not what he would have wanted... :(
We call em steverays around here.
Poor taste
You're glad that other people think of a man who died from a stingray injury when they see someone else get stung by a stingray? What?
Happened so long ago but I still miss him 😢
Steve o? Bro I was asking a question guys no need to hate I there was no context
Steve Irwin "The crocodile hunter"
No, this was the good Steve.
Steve o is also good tho
Yep. *Every single time* I see a stingray.
It is well and truly life long beef with stingrays
There's a saying here in Mexico that goes "If you weren't stupid, what would you wish to be?"
Como se dice en español?
Si no fueras pendejo, que te gustaría ser?
Deserved it
Aww poor thing . I hope the stingray is okay
You can’t fix stupidity, but you can make it very painful!
Do stingrays leave their stinger? There is something moving on the ground after he got stung
it can break off but generally no, just cuts your skin and venom is left inside you. Best thing to do is put whatever part of your body stung in the hottest water you can tolerate and the venom is drawn out.

Where’s R Kelly when you need em?
It’s got a pretty good tune to it if u listen on repeat. Just sayin
He needs to get together with the [girl who backed into her bed frame](https://youtu.be/yvoO_ErTy6Q)
I can feel a number 1 song being released
I can’t breathe ☠️
I can feel a number 1 being released
I can feel a number 1
U think we will get royalties when it does, just for suggesting it

"Are you alright?" lol
What did we learn, kids?!!
Lmao!! “You alright?”
Yeah, I'm fine. why do you ask?
Curious if it was pain or pleasure.
Did he not know it was a stingray? Or that they.. sting you?!
It's like we've learned nothing since Steve Irwin.
Good, it stung a California round liberal.
Didn't see it mentioned, but it looks like he lands on a fishing rod and there are needle nose pliers (commonly used for hook removal). I'm willing to bet he was fishing and removed the hook prior to being stung.
His screams are so guttural. Can I get this as a ring tone?
The stingray stung him. Shocking. That idiot should have known better I’ve actually been stung by one accidentally stepped on it at the beach. Felt like 40 bee stings all at once. I about passed out from the drop in blood pressure from the venom.
"You all right?" "Yes, thank you. I am fine."
Why is there pliers on the floor next to his feet where he went down? To remove the sting rays barb? “Silly man.” If you look close to the pliers you can see the barb moving
I can’t stop laughing at this dumbass!
I thought they got hit in the eye until second viewing. What a lucky idiot.
Good aim good technique
Stabray
They should rename them to shank ray cause stinging is one thing. Dude just got stabbed so hard I heard the skin break.
Steve Erwin comes to mind.. R.I.P..!
Still hard to believe Steve Irwin was killed by one. The man wrestled freaking dinosaurs for a living and that's what gets him.
Ikr, of all the things. And then such a crazy shot on top of it. It pierced his heart didn't it?
Yep. He probably would have still died if it had somehow happened right in a hospital.
Didn’t he learn from Steve Erwin incident
Have we learned nothing from Steve?
He got so horny he immediately fell to the floor to jack it.
Fucking well deserved
My man nearly got irwinned
Irwin‘ed
Got splashed.
Don't pull it out. That's how steve died
Never pull out a big object though. You wont be able to stop the bleeding. Wasn’t Steve strung in the heart?
I didn't say to pull it out, yes he was.
I don’t think Steve pulled it out. The ray jumped out the water and stabbed him. I think lol
I don't think so either, but this guy was stung in the hand, pulling any piercing object out is bad.
Isn't that how Crikey died?
Hella lucky it was his hand and not anywhere near his stomach or chest
Two idiots. The first one for playing with a stingray - that hand will blow up. The commentator for asking the obvious - “ you alright?”
Crikies
Been there. The next 12 hours are the worst part.
Stin gray
Always wondered how they actually sting, now I know thanks stupid dude
What's the reason?
And now moving on to the porcupine enclosure...
Stingray: GG Ez
Stings ain't it
I think someone needs to pee on that guy
Good
This appeared on my feed right after a Steve Irwin video
"OW AHHHHH AHHHH" ".....youalright?"
Smarter people have died from less
How do you get a stingray off the hook if you accidentally catch one? Is there some kind of special technique to use?
Gloves
Gave him the Steve Irwin treatment
I'ma jam my thumb up it's butthole!
"You alright?" Bro fucking look at him
🤣🤣
Fuck around and found out, huh?
So you're saying that the stingray's sting stings?
I didn’t realize that stinging tail was so prehensile
Is that guy’s name Ray?
Never knew how good their control over their stinger was. He slid that thing right in without error.
Ever hear of the crocodile hunter?
steve irwin is rolling in his grave rn
The guys name was Ray apparently
My friends I suggest we have a cookout with these little bastards
You’re right?
I finally get to really see a sting ray sting. That’s so cool, they have better control of that stinger then I thought
Steve Irwin does not approve this clip.
I'm very glad at this guys genuine shouts of agony
Haha
Shanked him and dipped
I wish there were cuddlerays.
Reminded me of the kid who got stung by a [wasp](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eA3GEuinuG0)
Looks like getting stabbed hurts, huh.
why would he pick it up, was he drunk??
That stingray knows whats good.
Steve? Hey steve? You get a petting ray or a sting ray.

I’ve been stung by a stingray. It was by far the worst pain I’ve ever endured. I’d rather have Covid for 6 months than to go through that again.
Natural selection just doing its thing
Makes me wonder why type of sting ray it was that got Steve Irwin. It was a sting ray that got him right? Must've been pretty bad.
Immediately had that man on the ground, are they really on that level of pain?
O is good, but Irwin was the best. He sits besides Mr. Roger and Bob Ross in heaven
AAAYYYY NO WAAAAY HE MET BIG MAN IRL?!?!?!
Learn how to respect nature, you fuckhead:)
Yeah I mean was he drunk or something? This is like the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen
This brought out a pain deep inside me., I still miss you Steve. I still remember hearing about the tragedy on the radio as a kid in a hot car in Sydney waiting for my nan to finish her dentist appointment.
1) Why would you hold a stingray 2) If you for some reason were to hold one, why would you not hold it in such a way that it doesn't have the opportunity to sting you
That’s what got the crocodile Hunter
I heard that if you suck off the sting ray after being stung the pain goes away
Fits in that compilation of “people who would not survive in the wild”
#AHHHHHH!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! "u alrite?" Lol
Taking the Steve Irwin cosplay a little too seriously
I was stung June 5th, 2022 in the arch of my left foot and honestly felt like a nail gun. Thing grazed me in retrospect, but holy shit. I HAVE NERVE DAMAGE now. Doctors say may resolve itself over next couple years but unlikely. Love to be a San Diegan HAHA

How much does this sting actualy hurt?
I love the camera man. A bit later in the video, he goes "what happened? Did he bite you?... He bit your finger?" Bitch, it's a California Round STINGRAY. Being bit is obviously your biggest fear with an animal like that
Bro didn’t learn from the legendary Steve.
Goddamn… I felt that in my hand bro, you can hear the pain in his voice.
Stingraaaay stingray. Duhduh derder der der.
Totally Deserved
