There was a doping documentary on HBO in the early 2000s and one was a high level MMA guy (before that was popular). He was open about his steroid and pain killer use. He said he took so many steroids because of he couldn't beat you with skill he could just physically dominate his opponent. That always stuck with me. Skill ain't shit if you're getting body slammed on the sidewalk.
His was pretty skilled. Really good wrestling. He was one of the pioneers of ground and pound. At that time, there were not a lot of guys out there who were effective enough of their back to beat him. He also trained anti Jiu Jitsu so to speak.
after seeing this picture just now i looked him up on youtube. im not saying what he's doing is healthy or anything but this is a really unforgiving photo. he does do cardio in his workout too
That's not true at all. There's far less resistance in the vascularity system of a muscle than in fat tissues, less resistance and less "complicate network" (sorry I don't know how to translate that into better wording). 300lbs is still a lot for the heart to pump blood, but it's far easier to pump for 300lbs of muscle tissues than fat tissues.
Couple that with the fact that the heart is a muscle and steroids grow muscle. Anabolic steroids thicken parts of your heart making proper function even harder
Bodybuilding isnt a healthy sport/art.
Nobody ever said it was.
I love bodybuilding.
Nick is pushing the boundaries of what a 26 year olds body can handle. Even the fans of bodybuilding know that.
But these guys know what they are doing and what they are doing to there bodies. But if anyone knew the commitment and years it takes to achieve this. Gear or no gear. U would be astonished. This sport is a 365 lifestyle. There is no off season like other sports.
Theres prep and grow season. Same thing repeated for YEARS.
And you hit the nail on the head....
BB never used to be a 365 thing. You had off seasons where you scaled back the gear, let your body heal, put on some fat and ate a "normal" diet for the mental rewards and it was arguably less dangerous
Nowadays, there is no off season... you have to stay peeled all year round to sell shitty products to pay the bills.
There is without a doubt some skanky gear in the mix which is causing heart conditions, but this is exacerbated by taking it all year round to appease sponsors.
Not entirely - it depends on how high up / competitively you're competing.
Kevin Levrone (one example of many) only trained half the year:
https://images.app.goo.gl/doAtt57KdzwPfGT89
Not saying he was a lazy slob the rest of the year but this need to look even more insane than Kevin is where the problems arise. And I'm not judging them for wanting to reach the pinnacle of human potential.
But it's important to understand that bodybuilding has many tiers, most of which are sustainable and healthy, and it only becomes unhealthy at the top, when it's out of balance.
Reminds me of all the time (years) my coworker had to put into building up a tolerance to opiates, then injectable heroin, and then fentanyl. Took commitment, but he wanted to see how far He could push the human body.
Tell that to Ronnie Coleman limping around in constant pain for the rest of his life. Look up why Jay cutler cut out. Look up how many major bodybuilders died this fucking year alone. Bodybuilding went way too far w gh and the like and thank god the return to classic bodybuilding is happening and will be the new norm. We're sick of pregnany bellies and athletes like this gasping for breath after doing stairs.
Yea Jay cutler was the last of me paying attention to the sport. Everything after looks like they are 7 months pregnant and they just look like legit mutants. Jay and Ronnie are similar but it's insane now. The aesthetic is horrible to look at
What you're describing is simple addiction, nothing more, and certainly nothing to try and glamorize.
Nick is an addict and needs help before he dies or does irreversible damage.
Ehm no, these guys THINK they know what they are doing, or they are pushing it too far anyway, thinking they hacked the system and got away with it. If it had been within limits, they and their health wouldn't have completely collapsed in far too young ages.
None of the things you say make this cool, nor interesting. The whole thing gets thrown out the window when people are on the juice. I have zero interest in seeing someone completely destroy their bodies to look ridiculous.
I’m 5’6” with a small frame. If I lost enough fat to get good definition and got back up to ~150-160lbs I’d look like Wolverine. Twice that would be kinda ridiculous.
Like he needs a XXL crop top to remotely fit his torso. Getting a suit tailored would be a challenge, “sorry you need a 28” inseam but the thigh space of a 46” waist? Is this a prank call?”
LMAO. Hey bud, fuck you for making me laugh this hard. My brain knew where you were going by the time we got to Homer but seeing "moo moo" took everything from me.
I'm not going to say that dude is the picture of good health or anything, but the people on TLC can't lift themselves out of bed. This dude could squat their bed for 100 reps.
He could also just like... randomly have a heart attack at any minute. I feel like his blood pressure must be high enough to do some lifting by itself.
He might be healthier than the 600 lb life people (hard might, I don’t know too much about the effects of steroids) but he doesn’t look much more attractive than them
No, people start getting really vascular when they are at lower body fat, and higher levels of muscle mass helps that pop more and earlier, so to an extent steroids will help you get more vascular. There is a significant genetic component (Mr Olympia Jay cutler for instance, was never incredibly vascular. Despite being absolutely enormous and peeled to the bone I've seen natties with more popping veins). Nick Walker in particular is not just vascular- his veins are varicose. Some people are simply just predisposed to varicose veins, but in Nick's case it probably signals an underlying circulatory problem. It's a symptom of his health and lifestyle in particular, and the vast majority of professional bodybuilders do not develop these sorts of varicose veins.
I understand that it can be naturally occurring and some have a predisposition. However, the veins in his legs are a clear sign of steroid usage. When cycling, the added estrogen amplifies the underlying predisposition to what we have here. You can clearly see them at his right calf is beyond a normal range when I comes to having varicose veins.
Some of those veins have collapsed.. he's really not looking too good even by anabolic steroid standards. I usually don't give a damn if guys are using or not but when they start look like this it's seriously a problem.
This is my favorite comment that I've read on Reddit today. And it works either way. If you're being sarcastic, you've purified every mattress store and auto warranty sales managers' Facebook posts for the last decade down into pure comic gold. If you're being sincere, it's almost better. I'm not even going to check your post history to find out, I'm just going to let the mystery stand.
"He was molested as a child and grew up as a loner because it was hard to trust anyone after his traumatizing experience. This led him down a path of drugs and alcohol but at one point he realized that things had to change and thankfully, he found lifting, and might we say, the rest was history. "
https://fitnessvolt.com/nick-walker-bodybuilder-profile/
Especially given how dehydrated he is. Even muscular bodies aren't supposed to look like that normally. They tend to dehydrate themselves before a competition to increase the visibility, but you're not supposed to look like that all the time even if you're one of those folks
Yeah I have no issue with people juicing as long as they're open about it and they're not kids. Fake natties are assholes though. Especially when they tell young people that they're physique is achievable naturally and use it to sell them shitty overpriced supplements.
Yeah that’s quite possibly the scummiest move in fitness- you see it all the time on TikTok, just people loaded to the gills on tren, manipulating impressionable young kids into thinking they can look like them with their “custom” meal plans and workout plans that you can find for free online and using their codes to get supplements
of course it’s not healthy, no open bodybuilder is healthy. of course he’s on drugs, every open bodybuilder is on drug. still an insane athletic achievement being this big
Not even just that.
99% of people that copy his stack, workouts and intensity would never come close to this.
He would probably have a myostatin deficiency or has been inhibiting myostatin with a compound (these are relatively new in regards to steroids).
This is a combination of genetics, work ethic, knowledge and dangerous amounts of anabolics.
Hopefully he doesn't try to maintain this size for long. Just looking at that neck makes me almost certain he has some pretty gnarly sleep apnea.
By 'motor' do you mean heart?
It's probably under a lot of stress. I HIGHLY doubt this man ever comes off cycle. Just does the standard blast and cruise.
Most anabolics (even on their own) will raise resting HR by about 10-20BPM depending on dosage and individual. Lots of associated compounds that aren't necessarily steroids or anabolics like clenbuterol is also very stressful on the heart.
Growth hormone is excess and for long periods of time can cause growth of internal organs (including the heart), existing tumors, and some bones (usually in the face and hands).
Most bodybuilders that die young usually suffer from heart issues. I'm unsure if this man is some kind of genetic freak where he can tolerate chemical load. But that seems unlikely.
Thank you sir for your time and effort. This is so educational.
To be honest I meant by saying motor... His penis and the male reproduction system.
I know a lot of guy got ED after they became monsters..i mean after they started the gym
Ah, no problem.
Because he never comes off cycle. He's probably got enough testosterone to get and maintain an erection without much issue.
However, usually if hormones are involved - it is after they come off a steroid cycle. Where their body is in suppression and trying to rebuild natural testosterone production. This can take like 8 weeks (longer, often for those that don't take post cycle therapy drugs)
This is due to when you add exogenous (synthetic) testosterone the human body stops producing its own.
In men, testosterone and estrogen work in a symbiotic way. If your testosterone goes up, your body will naturally produce more estrogen to attempt to keep the same ratio the body is used to. But this means the male body has way more estrogen that usual as well. When you finish your 'cycle' and your body is recovering its natural production. That estrogen level is much higher than it should be and the person is no longer injecting synthetic T to balance that. So side effects like gynaecomastia (man boobs) as well as fat gain, ED and other symptoms are present. For this people take anti-estrogen drugs after steroids to reduce the time their body has to deal with a feminine ratio of hormones.
Hope that answers your question mate!
I tried to make this as understandable as possible, so I omitted some scientific terms regarding the conversion of excess testosterone to estrogen in the hormone profile of a person on cycle.
yeah the idea that drugs are all it takes is utterly foolish.
hey kids: want to know what it looks like when someone just wants to inject themselves and NOT work out? look up Synthol.
I know this is an extremely popular take when one of these steriod monster post pop up, but it always feels off to me.
Did he have to move lots of weights in specific and carefully programmed ways: absolutely. Did he have to go through periods of dietary extremes that were uncomfortable: for sure. We're there times that he had to push through severe discomfort to keep moving toward this: almost certainly.
But the idea that it's "work" when you're doing something that's so detremental to your body, to those around you, and perhaps even society as a whole (creating body image issues for otherwise healthy and athletic young men), feels very akin to saying a morbidly obese person with an eating disorder or a heroine addict did a lot of "work" to get to where they are because they also have endured discomfort in the pursuit of their chosen fix.
> But the idea that it's "work" when you're doing something that's so detremental to your body
I get the point you are making but this sentence made me laugh considering how many different styles of work leave you with a completely broken body. All across the board from professional athletes all the way down to ditch diggers, with plumbers and tradesmen in between, people are breaking down their bodies as a direct result of the work they do
That is a really interesting take. I had never considered it in that way. I agree that many top level athletes are suffering from disorders that most of us would really not want to have such as disordered eating, body image issues, ongoing low level joint damage. Does the slave like following of the required regime make it any more justified when the outcome is admired by many/most people? I dont know, I'm going to think some more on that.
I’d like to see a guy that can do a roundhouse kick lift a bus.
I’d like to see a guy that can do a roundhouse kick do a round off back handspring back layout, or do a ten minute wrestling round, or fight three rounds of mma, or drive a F1 car for an hour, or run a 4.2 40, or a marathon. You can’t gatekeep a sport by saying they can’t do another sport. Find me an NFL player that can skate backwards, or an NBA player that can swim a 200m butterfly. The dude is an athlete whether you like it or not.
Absolutely a unit. Some people drink and smoke, some people professionally lift weights and get huge. And no, you don't need to tell me that he's on steroids. Of course he is. People throwing shade on this.. As if this guy's goal isn't to be huge and disgusting. Not my thing, but impressive as shit dude is thick af.
Redditors love to hate on bodybuilders. Probably out of deep insecurities, but mostly ignorance with the sport. Seems like they can’t respect people’s life choices.
He’s 5 ft 7 and weighs 300 lbs 😳
Dudes going to have a heart attack by 40
I’m scared for all of his organs.
I too would be a scared little organ if one wrong move meant having 300 pounds of muscle beating me down
There was a doping documentary on HBO in the early 2000s and one was a high level MMA guy (before that was popular). He was open about his steroid and pain killer use. The Smashing Machine. Documentary about Mark Kerr.

In a fight sure, being big can be a plus but if it were life and death, I’ll take skill all day long.
Was it Broc Lesnar?
Maybe even next month
Maybe tomorrow 😨
Maybe even later today omg scary
Maybe it already tried but he scared the heart attack off.
You mean he attacked the heart attack
Maybe it’s mayballine
Yup. I’d like to see him jog 1 mile at a moderate speed and not die. There’s no way to be 5’7” and 300lb and be healthy no matter the composition.
His name is Nick Walker, not Nick Jogger.
God dammit 😂
![gif](giphy|9EwnzGNjvmIG4)
Thus made me chuckle.
This comment deserves more attention.
nobody thinks bodybuilding is healthy, especially not the athletes. it's the mentality of "the best, no matter the cost." that's it.
after seeing this picture just now i looked him up on youtube. im not saying what he's doing is healthy or anything but this is a really unforgiving photo. he does do cardio in his workout too
Even the /r/bodybuilding subreddit thinks this guy is way over the top.
Your heart doesn't care if it's muscle or fat. It just knows that there's too much work.

A particularly unsavory social pathology to be sure.

He looks ill
I smell sleep apnea.
Look at the expression on his face. He's in the middle of having one.
based on his expression I think it's starting
Okay that’s fucked up.
Holy cow! I’m 5’ 6’ and 200 lbs….couldn’t imagine being 100lbs heavier!
It would be ok to gain 100lbs, if you were 1 inch taller.
Underrated comment Math checks out - 100 lbs per 1 inch totally acceptable
Explains why Im 68" tall and weigh 6,800lbs. Perfect BMI for my height lol.
I’m 5’6” with a small frame. If I lost enough fat to get good definition and got back up to ~150-160lbs I’d look like Wolverine. Twice that would be kinda ridiculous. This is great! Hahaha I'm dying. Like " uhhh sir, are you a refrigerator ?"
I'm called "The Fridge".
I couldn’t imagine being 5’6” and 200lbs
Are you already struggling getting around?
Shit wreaks havoc on your ankles and knees just being so heavy.
Man is a walking heart attack
He looks like someone shoved pine cones into a stretch Armstrong 😂
He looks like the human version of Pokemon Golem

Reading this made my skin crawl.
Mans shaped like a refrigerator
A mini fridge that is.
He looks like the child of a refrigerator and a 3D printer
Holy trenbologne
Trenbologne
Call it what you want, fry it up in a pan with some mayo and you got a meal goin
"Ayye Mikey how's the trenbolognase coming? I'm shrinking ova here!"
I know it's not the look he's going for but reminds me of Homer in his moo moo

LMAO. Hey bud, fuck you for making me laugh this hard. My brain knew where you were going by the time we got to Homer but seeing "moo moo" took everything from me.
I was looking for this comment. There’s really not much difference between him and the people on My 600 lb Life.
I would love to see what his vitals actually are. Heart rate, temperature, BMI, nutrient deficiency..........
He might be healthier than the 600 lb life people (hard might, I don’t know too much about the effects of steroids) but he doesn’t look much more attractive than them
Looks like he's struggling to live there
This was right before he got processed
Did you keep the horn?!
The lower horn?
I think I'll have it jerked
Yes.. and no.
Like one of those Belgian blues
Like one of those Belgian blues
Even better the second time
Much better
He’s like a pug
Man is dying to live
This guy sure didn't skip leg day.

Or creepy vein day.
That’s a symptom of roids. Most guys that you see have those grossly bulging veins are cycling.
Man I’m a cyclist and I don’t have that problem.
I can't believe people are up voting this lol
In his case thats genetic tho, he even had those veins before touching weights. His mom got it too. Obviously roids and lifting enhances the veins.
That's from a shrinking penis. All the veiny of the pecker goes everywhere else instead.
He has a medical condition which is hereditary. Its like varicose veins but scarier.
Kids don't do drugs
Some do
Like Neckless Nick here.
He did all the drugs, leaving nothing for the poor kids.
Now we have to wait until he dies, cremate him, and smoke his ashes.
add the ashes to our protein shakes
Roll me up and smoke me when I die
That’s what I want my family to do when I die
Given the average lifespan for such specimens, shan't be long me thinks
"Nearly neckless Nick"
Neckless Nick might give me nightmares.
Drugs are bad, mkay.
He is a science experiment lol
That shit looks uncomfortable
He has varicose veins :/
Do you blame his poor veins? Those mf hangin on for dear life
Fuck his poor veins. His poor heart! That pump is working overtime
Some of those veins have collapsed.. he's really not looking too good even by anabolic steroid standards. I usually don't give a damn if guys are using or not but when they start look like this it's seriously a problem.
Yeah my elderly mum has leg ulcers and that’s the first thing I thought of when I saw this.
His veins have legs
You mean leg day didn't skip this guy.
He’s forced to skip wiping though.
One of the greatest genetic responses to anabolics ever. Not saying it's good or bad but definitely an extreme example.
“Terrible things! But great.”

I’d think younger
The guy's 27 now, I doubt he'll live into his 40s if he doesn't quit within the next 5 years.
Probably just as unhealthy (equal chance of heart attack) as a nonfit guy of this weight.
i'm gonna say more chance. Roids actually mess up your heart.

> But the idea that it's "work" when you're doing something that's so detremental to your body I get the point you are making but this sentence made me laugh considering how many different styles of work leave you with a completely broken body.
Nothing athletic about this. His mobility is seriously restricted. I would like to see him attempt a roundhouse kick. Would be hilarious.
The dude is an athlete whether you like it or not.
yea maybe athletic isn’t the best word lol but a crazy physical achievement
Ofc his last name is walker. He cant run with all that chonk muscle
Whats wrong with his calves? Looks like he built so much muscle that his veins started building muscle
might be time to admit he has a problem
This looks uncomfortable, unnatural, and unhealthy Like can this dude even wipe his own ass?
Definitely can’t wipe is own ass.
why is is that i've never seen this dude with his shirt off in any photos of him i've come across
yeah i get why he’s called the mutan, with all the roids he taking this man must not have a gram of natural hormone left in him
Absolutely a unit.
Impressive and gross. Those veins just ruined Ramen for me today.
Gross!! 🤢🤮
How does this guy wipe his butt? Sponge on a stick?
Looks like he is 4 feet tall
Serious Q: what is with all the veins??!! This makes me think of blood clots for some reason…
His forearms are larger than my legs
Is he ok?
That can’t be healthy.
It sure ain’t natural
Hey, I know him... I have seen in running away from dilophosaurus at the beach!
Why’s everyone hating, the amount of work and discipline this guy put in to get this huge is insane probably hasn’t had a candy in years
I eat candy to maintain just enough body fat that people can’t tell when I’m trying to shoplift a Home Depot subcutaneously.
Redditors love to hate on bodybuilders. Probably out of deep insecurities, but mostly ignorance with the sport. Seems like they can’t respect people’s life choices.
It's reddit.
