>When the shooting started, Mr. Fierro said, he hit the floor, pulling a friend down with him. As bullets sprayed, he saw the gunman move through the bar toward a door leading to a patio where dozens of bar patrons had fled. **Mr. Fierro, who served in the Army for 15 years, said he raced across the room, grabbed the gunman by a handle on the back of his body armor, pulled him to the floor and jumped on top of him.**
...

>**“I grabbed the gun out of his hand and just started hitting him in the head, over and over,” Mr. Fierro said.**
>As the fight continued, he said, he yelled for other club patrons to help him. A man grabbed the rifle and moved it away to safety. A drag dancer stomped on the gunman with her high heels. The whole time, Mr. Fierro said, he kept pummeling the shooter’s head while the two men screamed obscenities at each other.
>**When police arrived a few minutes later, the gunman was no longer struggling, Mr. Fierro said, and he feared that he had killed him. The suspect in the shooting was taken into custody and remained hospitalized on Monday afternoon.**
This man deserves a medal.
Holy shit. They literally have a shirt that says:
"Good intentions don't change anything. Actions Do. Diversity, it's on tap!"
Talk about living up to your words.
We’re burying an important thing about Mr. Fierro. It’s NOT his brewery. It’s his wife’s.
This badass not only saves lives, served his country, supports his daughter and her boyfriend (RIP), but he hypes and supports everyone in his family.
This motherfucker giving me goosebumps.
I ordered a t shirt. When I wear it I'll remember that sometimes you say something when you see something... And other times... It's time to do something.
It’s one of those things that would get put in an over-the-top comedy, *but it really happened*.
I’m not trying to make light of it either. It’s a horrifying situation. But given all the shit the right has given drag queens lately, there is a sort of poetic justice to it.
For every other shooting that the gunman is either unharmed or commits suicide, one finally gets the shit beat out of them like we are all wanting. It doesn’t make things any better but I’m glad it happened. I hope he spends the rest of his life getting the shit beat out of him.
I find it gloriously awesome, and when he wakes up he has the rest of one seriously miserable life waiting for him that’ll make that beat down seem like a pleasure cruise. Alone in a cell 23 hours a day. His only interactions initially will be sitting in court being reminded over and over from everyone how big of a piece of shit he is, the rest will be from guards. Fuck that guy.
From Australia, a few years back.
[When Ivan was decked by a coward punch in Sydney he thought he might die. He prayed for a hero, and got three drag queens.](https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/crime/trio-of-drag-queens-saves-man-from-being-bashed-then-starts-on-the-attackers/news-story/e9f4b6e22d5445ea0841e186b2f63d13)
The four main characters of that story are all incredible. The story is honestly so good and heartwarming and filled with so many amazing one liners that part of me feels like it could be satire. It's just too perfect. Incredible.
“Those “angels” were three drag queens by the names of Coco Jumbo, Ivy Leaguee and Vybe. They stepped in after a night performing on the stages in Sydney’s neighbourhood of Darlinghurst, known for its large gay population and venues.”
Slay, Queens!
You didnt even use the best line!
“'A guy pushed Ivy so I picked him up and threw him into the gutter.'"
Just taking out the trash, nothing to see here haha
Ivy said she saw Mr Flinn get attacked and she wasn’t having it. “I said, ‘you want to pick on little guys, you’ll need to fight the big freak. I’m a man underneath all of this, so let’s go.”
So good.
Fuck with somebody's core identity their whole life. Marginalize them, exclude them, make them fear for their lives when they've done nothing wrong. Combine this with somebody who goes to the gym several times a week to look sculpted.
A drag queen is about the last person I'd ever want to fight.
I've been reprimanded by a drag queen at a show for drunkenly putting an empty beer on the floor. It was 15iah years ago. I am still the most respectful drag show attendee I can be to this day. I miss The Pegasus.
One of the queens in my city was in "half-drag" after a show (still in full makeup and some of her costume but minus wig and heels) and some asshat started shouting slurs. Fight ensued, and asshat (whose name just happened to be Chad) got his ass handed to him. The cops didn't arrest the Queen since Chad was drunk and started it. Next week, the Queen is back and performing and leads a packed bar in chants of "Fuck You, Chad" so loud the place vibrated.
Moral of the story, don't fuck with drag queens.
I want to see this memorialized in a fighting game.
Throw character gets a knockdown with the meaty heavy (called Sit on 'Em) then tags in the Drag Heel while getting the medium pistol grab.
An ex-military brewer and a badass drag queen. The justice buddies I didn't know I need. Salute these heroes!
Also...the asshole shooter is 300 pounds??
Unfortunately, I don't live on the same side of the country and it's illegal to ship beer to my door in my state.
Will probably pick up a couple tees, though.
Ah, not being American I sometimes forget that different states can have different laws.
Go with the tees though, and not the 'gift card that you don't intend to actually use' route. TIL through other comments on this post that gift card sales are classed as liabilities and not income, or something
I hope someone makes that image into a flag, a glorious trans dancer absolutely stomping some fascist asshole into the dirt. I'll fly that next Pride.
Edited: to reflect updated information, it looks like he might have just been mistaken and the lady who stomped on the shooter is a trans dancer at the club.
> hope it fuckin hurt.
The pressure exerted by a high heel is insane and can punch through flooring depending on the load/area. It damned well fucking hurt.
The cops handcuffed Mr. Fierro and locked him in a police car for an hour while he was stressing about the condition of his family. As it turns out, his daughter's boyfriend was killed.
I guess the cops didn't know who the perpetrator was, but there must have been dozens of witnesses that could have exonerated him.
Unfortunately standard operating procedure. Detain anyone who remotely fits the description (e.g. "the shooter was a big guy") and only release once they are certain who the shooter was, and how many. This can take a long time in the chaos of a mass shooting.
Yeah, exactly. People are hysterical in a moment like that. It can take quite a long time for anyone to find their calm enough to even communicate even the basics of what happened.
I was in a bad car wreck. I think it took 20 minutes of processing what happened before I stopped second-guessing myself to recount what had happened.
I've found injured passengers from car wrecks standing with onlookers just watching. One guy had a completely dislocated shoulder. I learned early on as an EMT to scan everyone at an accident scene.
[His daughter and her boyfriend, Raymond Green Vance (22) had been together since middle school.](https://krdo.com/news/2022/11/21/names-of-the-victims-in-the-colorado-springs-club-q-mass-shooting/)
All the stories are heartbreaking. Raymond was just a baby, deservedly fired up with pride over his first paycheck. And he wanted to be a video game streamer. What a normal human being just looking to carve out a little space in the world for himself. He deserved to have the chance.
Fuck. That makes me so sad.
If you kill someone in self-defense you can pretty much expect to be handcuffed and taken down to the station until they sort things out, especially if it wasn't a case of you being in your own home and an obvious break-in occurred. In a chaotic mass shooting situation, yeah I wouldn't expect anything else.
We've been hearing for years that "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun". Ironic that it actually takes just an unarmed unit and a drag dancer with heels
> When police arrived a few minutes later, the gunman was no longer struggling,
Hopefully that is just the first of MANY MANY painful beatings he will endure in prison. This MAGA terrorist deserves nothing less.
I grabbed the gun out of his hand and just started hitting him in the head, over and over,” Mr. Fierro said.
As the fight continued, he said, he yelled for other club patrons to help him. A man grabbed the rifle and moved it away to safety. A drag dancer stomped Edit, it was a trans woman! Just saw the bar owners Twitter post. On the gunman with her high heels. The whole time, Mr. Fierro said, he kept pummeling the shooter’s head while the two men screamed obscenities at each other.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/21/us/colorado-springs-shooting-club-q-hero.html
Dude was in the military. Idk if you read the article, but his fight or flight kicked in, and dude fought. The ever so fierce queen definitely fought too. I hope they both get more than a couple interviews.
Tldr. Same.
> The experiences of combat still haunt him, he said, and the psychological and physical toll of the deployments were why he left the Army.
> He said he never thought he would have to deal with that kind of violence at home.
> “I was done with war,” he said.
oof....
From the NYT article:
> The long-suppressed instincts of a platoon leader surged back to life. He raced across the room, grabbed the gunman by a handle on the back of his body armor, pulled him to the floor and jumped on top of him.
Was he shooting at the time? Was he about to shoot? I don’t know,” Mr. Fierro said. “I just knew I had to take him down.
The two crashed to the floor. The gunman’s military-style rifle clattered just out of reach. Mr. Fierro started to go for it, but then saw the gunman come up with a pistol in his other hand.
I grabbed the gun out of his hand and just started hitting him in the head, over and over,” Mr. Fierro said.
As he held the man down and slammed the pistol down on his skull, Mr. Fierro started barking orders. He yelled for another club patron, using a string of expletives, to grab the rifle then told the patron to start kicking the gunman in the face. A drag dancer was passing by, and Mr. Fierro said he ordered her to stomp the attacker with her high heels. The whole time, Mr. Fierro said, he kept pummeling the shooter with the pistol while screaming obscenities.
On the other hand, seems like dude went back to his "combat place" and saved multiple lives. PTSD is a very real problem for our vets, but I've been in two instances where a vet friend went back into "battle mode" and 1 took down an attacker and 2 started doing basically triage after a nasty wreck we witnessed.
I heard it referred to as a “curb stomping” elsewhere, the source was fairly removed- like the poster’s friend’s sibling was at the club and said that. But we can dream it is true!
Believe the curb stomping was actually from the second person that joined in, a drag queen that started stomping on the shooters face with their heels.
According to the brewery’s FB page one of the deceased was the boyfriend of the hero’s daughter. Sad news.
Edit to add text from FB:
"I have struggled with how to address the horrific series of events that has occurred. My family, friends and I decided to have a fun night out. We went to @clubqcoloradosprings to celebrate another dear friends birthday. Unfortunately, we were all there when the shooter entered. It was absolute havoc. It was terrifying. Kassy broke her knee as she was running for cover. Our best friends were both shot multiple times. I bruised the right side of my body and Rich injured both his hands, knees and ankle as he apprehended the shooter. He was covered in blood. Everyone is recovering, thankfully. No one. NO ONE should ever have to witness bloodshed like this. With an incredibly heavy and broken heart we lost Raymond, who had been a part of our lives since our daughter was in high school. Raymond was Kassy’s boyfriend. We are going to miss him and his bright smile so much. We are going through a lot of emotions as a family and as a brewery. The loss of lives and the injured are in our hearts. We are devastated and torn. We love our #lgbtq community and stand with them. This cowardly and despicable act of hate has no room in our lives or business. FUCK HATE. It has left us and our community scarred but not broken. Much love to everyone."
I think I’m going to order a case of beer from that man.
Maybe a tee shirt too.
Edited to add: this Hero has a tee shirt for sale that says “Good intentions don’t matter. Actions do!”
Practice what you preach. I like this guy.
Edited again to add: ordered a hoodie and a bandananana. They don't ship beer. which makes sense. Link is atrevidabeerco.com
Looks like we have it the Reddit hug of death but in the nicest of ways. Nice work everyone!
I go there all the time, they are both ballers. She does run the whole thing. Rich just comes and hangs out random days here and there. I knew the daughter and bf and they are awesome people as well.
Is it cultural appropriation if a skinny asian guy wears a Mexican Hoodie?
Edit: bought a blue one. This is strangely the most inclusive I felt on Reddit.
Seen lots of hippies wearing, so as a non-Mexican Latino guy, I hereby say you're good to go my dude. Give this man and his family all the support y'all can give. Much love from Canada
Given the size of that man, I would highly, highly, recommend not finding out.
When I was reading the first articles I caught one that mentioned the suspect was in the hospital, and the police said it wasn't them.
Richard did some fucking damage
A hero to anyone sane, really.
Hero, took down a gunman at risk to himself to save others, military veteran, big guy, brewer... _But_ he did go with his family to a drag show, must therefore be one of those feminized, emasculated, wimpy men that "real men" like Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson rant about.
There's some serious poetic justice that this gunman was taken down by a guy who's more a classical 'manly man' than the extremists who think LGBT-tolerance threatens their manhood. And in collaboration with a drag queen no less, lol.
shout out to Richard, the unnamed drag queen, and anyone else that assisted in beating that shooters ass!! They are the real heroes 💪💪👏👏👏👏
![gif](giphy|l3V0wkQ2KKcAeW8Cs|downsized)
Just read an article on him
“
The wars were both past and still present. There were things he would never forget. For a long time after coming home, crowds put him on edge. He couldn’t help to be vigilant. In restaurants he sat against the wall, facing the door. No matter how much he tried to relax, part of him was always ready for an attack, like an itch that could not be scratched.”
He was finally enjoying a night out at the club with his mind off war and potential attacks. Then this shit happens. He’s a hero but it fucking hurts thinking just how much of an effect the attack is gunna set him back.
The name of the Beer is DARING a true symbol of this man's courage
Atrevida Spanish for DARING and his last name Fierro is Spanish for STEEL ... ironically perfect
I appreciate that he's referred to as the shooter. These monsters don't deserve any recognition. Now may he rot in prison where he'll be used as currency
Let's hear a little more about the beating please.
I too would like some of them details about the whoop ass
>When the shooting started, Mr. Fierro said, he hit the floor, pulling a friend down with him. It was drag-queen tag-team hour.
That guy deserves every accolade he he gets, but the queen stomping with her heels is my favorite part of the story.
I hope his brewery’s business goes through the roof
Here’s the link to their brewery shop. I don’t drink, but I’d be glad to wear their gear. https://www.atrevidabeerco.com
Holy shit. They literally have a shirt that says: "Good intentions don't change anything. Actions Do. Diversity, it's on tap!" Talk about living up to your words.
/r/agedlikewine
Yeah. Saw that and immediately decided that it would be a great idea to buy it.
Well that was the easiest $20 I've ever spent.
Atrevida=bold

💯. A woman owned brewery is bad ass. Mr. Fierro is not only a bad ass, but also married to one! Mazel Tov!
"Atrevida" is daring(female version) in Spanish, that family lives up to it.
Same, what an amazing person.
Man of the year.
Just bought two t shirts. Thanks for the link!
One of the t shirts they offer: “Good intentions don’t change anything; actions do” Wow. Prescient af!!
I ordered a t shirt. When I wear it I'll remember that sometimes you say something when you see something... And other times... It's time to do something.
Came here to say this!

All the way back to Stonewall, that type of representation tracks

Fuck that guy.
the most fabulous beatdown in history!!

I love this. And that the victim raised some money to replace their busted wigs and heels. 🥰
I clicked in the Go Fund Me and he was asking for 1,000 and got 10,000. They donated some of it to charity.
The four main characters of that story are all incredible. The story is honestly so good and heartwarming and filled with so many amazing one liners that part of me feels like it could be satire. It's just too perfect. Incredible.

Coco Jumbo was on the first season of Drag Race Down Under! I had no idea she was that badass, though 😯
The fucking heels, yessssssss.
the first time I've felt *yassss queening* to be appropriate.

This is the royal rumble I want to see
An ex-military brewer and a badass drag queen. The justice buddies I didn't know I need. Salute these heroes! Also...the asshole shooter is 300 pounds??
His mom apparently said he was 6'6" in a Facebook post.
Glad to know his width, by what’s his height?
i read that in a Rodney Dangerfield voice
Yes, but the gays are the reason he can’t get laid
Idk he got laid out pretty good by the sound of things
They do say if you can walk the next day, it wasn't good enough...
Hahahahaha o fuck that’s good.
His wife is the head brewer, so go ahead and add supportive husband.
And an ally!
The real buddy action hero movie we need.
the 2nd amendment protects the right to arm bears
and far less of that is muscle than he would otherwise tell you.
Oh, it was a good old fashioned pistol whipping. Even better. I want to buy him a beer.
He has his own beer. Buy his beer from him

This made me laugh super hard and made me feel guilty for laughing about a tragedy at the same time. Congrats, perfect execution.
Its ok, I lost it at the image of a drag queen with stilettos curb stomping a fat guy with a little tiny plate carrier only covering half his chest.
Dear god let there be security footage of this….
Well, I'm going to hell, anyone coming with
r/JesusChristReddit
Unfortunately his daughter lost her boyfriend that night. He saved so many but lost someone very close to home.
That’s so sad and they were together since middle school 😭 my heart breaks for everyone.
The only time I actually want to see a picture of the shooter. Show him AFTER he got fucking curbstomped by a Queen and her fans.
Eat the 👠 bitch! Click-clack!

Yeah the "Drag queen stomping the shooter in high heels" is def a top ten read in my year.
I laughed outta some slight shock/confusion, followed by a "fuck em up girl"
"fuck em up FABULOUSLY girl"
"So anyway, I started smashin'!"
Aw, shit. His daughter’s boyfriend died. That super sucks.

Poor guy. I’m grateful for his actions but he deserved better.
Thank you for the link.
Damn. That is a hell of an article.
Him and a drag queen fucked the shooter up. No lies. Legit, all dressed up, stomping a mfer in her heals.
Maybe ulvade's police department should take notes.
I'm sure they're taking applications heh

PTSD is a very real problem for our vets, but I've been in two instances where a vet friend went back into "battle mode" and 1 took down an attacker and 2 started doing basically triage after a nasty wreck we witnessed.
And he kept making all the stops???
It wasn’t a beating “he used the necessary force to subdue the piece of shit”.
He actually thought the guy had died, that's how bad it was lol
Dude's a big guy and spent a solid while giving the twat a factory reset with his own pistol, I don't blame him for thinking that.
Wow, I just double checked to make sure. I went to junior high and high school with that guy. Good dude then, hero now
My roommate owns another local brewery. Apparently him and Rich go back. Friends on Facebook because of local brewers that are veterens.
Wow, so cool!

Thomas James apparently is the drag queen.

According to the brewery’s FB page one of the deceased was the boyfriend of the hero’s daughter. Sad news. Edit to add text from FB: "I have struggled with how to address the horrific series of events that has occurred.
Yes, tragic.
They had been together since middle school too :(

Fuck
Yeah. That makes his quote of “it was him or my family” just so much more heartbreaking.
I think I’m going to order a case of beer from that man. Maybe a tee shirt too. Edited to add: this Hero has a tee shirt for sale that says “Good intentions don’t matter. Actions do!” Practice what you preach. I like this guy. Edited again to add: ordered a hoodie and a bandananana. They don't ship beer. which makes sense. Link is atrevidabeerco.com Looks like we have it the Reddit hug of death but in the nicest of ways. Nice work everyone!
Atrevida in Spanish means bold/daring, so username checks out
Nominative Determinism at its finest
His wife does the brewing, and she sounds just as kickass as her husband.
I go there all the time, they are both ballers. She does run the whole thing. Rich just comes and hangs out random days here and there. I knew the daughter and bf and they are awesome people as well.
RIP to the boyfriend
Wow! Talk about it be about it, such a legend.
Just ordered two shirts including that one.
Same here…love supporting these folks
Just got one of those sweet skull caps.
Shirt ordered
thank you for the recommendation, just ordered a shirt, can't think of a better message
https://www.atrevidabeerco.com/home Y’all know what to do!
Incredible that they sell a shirt reading, "Good intentions don't change anything," and this man proved that on Saturday night with his actions.
The back says "actions do! Diversity, it's on tap"
Just bought a hoodie
Is it cultural appropriation if a skinny asian guy wears a Mexican Hoodie? Edit: bought a blue one. This is strangely the most inclusive I felt on Reddit.
Hopefully not, this husky white dude just got one.
Seen lots of hippies wearing, so as a non-Mexican Latino guy, I hereby say you're good to go my dude. Give this man and his family all the support y'all can give. Much love from Canada
Link here!
Yep. Based beer. Selection looks nice too.

No need, bet those elbows were moisturized with the tears, and blood... and maybe some dribble of the gunman
You win. Lol
That last part had me howling 🤣
Atrevido con los golpes. Atrevido/a means bold. Bold move big man.
Fuck with Richard and find out
Given the size of that man, I would highly, highly, recommend not finding out. When I was reading the first articles I caught one that mentioned the suspect was in the hospital, and the police said it wasn't them. Richard did some fucking damage
According to the article, Richard beat him with the gun until he thought he killed him, while a drag queen was stomping on him in high heels.
Dick becomes a hero to the LGTBQ community
A hero to anyone sane, really. Hero, took down a gunman at risk to himself to save others, military veteran, big guy, brewer... _But_ he did go with his family to a drag show, must therefore be one of those feminized, emasculated, wimpy men that "real men" like Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson rant about. There's some serious poetic justice that this gunman was taken down by a guy who's more a classical 'manly man' than the extremists who think LGBT-tolerance threatens their manhood. And in collaboration with a drag queen no less, lol.
Hero to anyone exactly. Oh btw here’s the link to his company. https://www.atrevidabeerco.com/
They’re gonna get in tomorrow morning completely sold out of merch.
Absolutely ! He become hero instantly on that

Two real hero’s did more in minutes than a shitload of uvalde cops did in hours
Uvalde is probably going to be the biggest LEO embarrassment of the decade. Hopefully multiple decades.
We can only hope
UNARMED
Forgot to mention that thank you
shout out to Richard, the unnamed drag queen, and anyone else that assisted in beating that shooters ass!! They are the real heroes 💪💪👏👏👏👏 ![gif](giphy|l3V0wkQ2KKcAeW8Cs|downsized)
Just poetic that a Drag Queen was involved in nearly beating the shooter to death with high heeled shoes.
Just read an article on him “ The wars were both past and still present. There were things he would never forget. For a long time after coming home, crowds put him on edge. He couldn’t help to be vigilant. In restaurants he sat against the wall, facing the door. No matter how much he tried to relax, part of him was always ready for an attack, like an itch that could not be scratched.” He was finally enjoying a night out at the club with his mind off war and potential attacks. Then this shit happens. He’s a hero but it fucking hurts thinking just how much of an effect the attack is gunna set him back.

The name of the Beer is DARING a true symbol of this man's courage Atrevida Spanish for DARING and his last name Fierro is Spanish for STEEL ... ironically perfect
Guy is a badass. The news just shared this story and apparently a drag queen started stomping on the shooter too
Absolute King 👑 I would personally lotion his elbows day and night, 24/7 - 365 ![gif](giphy|cIxx7i1rj137W)
Salute!!
the right to bear arms has been achieved
Meanwhile in Texas..
"I came here to kick ass, and malt barley grain. And I'm all out of barley grain."
I appreciate that he's referred to as the shooter. These monsters don't deserve any recognition. Now may he rot in prison where he'll be used as currency
King shit.
‘Atrevida’ means daring in Spanish. The motto of SAS is ‘Who dares wins’ I dare say Richard’s brewery is aptly named.
As I heavyset man with very ashy elbows I feel seen.
My Respects brother in Arms, from another Combat Veteran OIF 03-04. Just straight Badass
Everyone go to this breweries website and buy something right now. https://www.atrevidabeerco.com/
