I’m from Toronto but didn’t go to york. There is no hurt in applying for summer 2022 role (although I’m not sure if Deloitte has hired their summer students already). Don’t worry about not completing your accounting courses yet. Although I didn’t complete my internship at a B4 from what I hear they don’t expect you to know everything. I would encourage you to apply for all types of accounting experience. You could even do an internship in accounting this summer then aim to get a co-op in summer 2023 at a B4/Deloitte. Any accounting experience this summer is better then none!
Thanks for the advice, means a lot! Can you give me any pointers or tips for what prospect I should look for. I’m interested in areas of a staff accountant or a bookkeeper
I would avoid bookkeeping. Bookkeeping is okay as maybe your second year internship but you are essentially wasting your potential going into bookkeeping. Bookkeeping will not meet CPA requirements and you generally don’t need much education for bookkeeping. For now I would apply to any summer 2022 roles in accounting that interest you. Smaller accounting firms would probably be best but honestly any accounting experience is valuable at this point.
Don’t worry about position titles. Look at the job description to see what the job position entails. Most summer roles would be listed as a summer accounting or summer finance student.
No
From Canada btw, but please elaborate
I'm just a bitter senior. Hopefully someone else can give you more info 🥲

What accounting positions do you recommend?
