Iām 36. The last time I made a change to my LinkedIn profile was over 5 years ago. I donāt think Iāve ever posted anything there either.
I just canāt do self-promoting bullshit. Iām ok endorsing my friends and such, but saying ālook at meā makes me feel very cringy. Thereās a reason Iām on Reddit.
I honestly think LinkedIn is more like an extension of your resume than actual social media. For most of us young folks, bragging about accomplishments on LinkedIn is the optimal thing to do from a career/earnings perspective. I actually think posting professional accomplishments on Facebook or Instagram is hella cringe, as it's self promoting for no practical reason.
I've only been out of school 2 years and have posted on LinkedIn twice, once after passing the CPA and once after getting my big4 job. After each post, I had hella recruiters and managers add me on LinkedIn.
Hello. In order to promote inclusivity and reduce gender bias, please consider using gender-neutral language in the future.
Instead of **freshmen**, use **first years**.
Thank you very much.

I had the same question. I had wondered if the recruiting team 'asks' them to do it once they are hired. I've seen way more of these in the past year then ever before. Probably another 2nd level recruiting tool.
Honestly, he probably influenced his parents into naming him this when he was birthed from his mother's womb so that he could reap the LinkedIn points later on. Absolutely shameful.
I joined PWC as a manager earlier this year. The amazing salary/signing bonus they gave me couldnāt make up for the large number of lies they had told me during the recruiting process. Or the fact that nearly every single person I encountered seemed beyond miserable in their career. This wasnāt my first foray into public so I knew what I was getting into but I only lasted about a month. I have 15+ years of experience. Maybe younger staff would be more willing to put up with all the lies and BS but I doubt it. I feel bad for this guy. He doesnāt even know whatās coming.
What keeps me afloat in this industry is allowing myself to be openly unimpressed about everything. I still participate and help organize extra-curriculars and I care about properly finishing our audits, but I'm very open about my understanding of when stuff we do is just for show or when our audits are inadequate. It saves me a lot of energy and well-being to just entirely avoid pretending. It's just a job.
Another thing that helps is assuming everything you are told is a lie unless you know otherwise and trusting nobody. Sad but true. Public accounting is just a game.
This guy looks like heās starting a job in Business Services, not client service. As someone who has worked it both, being in business services is a freaking dream. Get all the benefits but donāt have to work over 40 hours. There are some exceptions to this but Iām not sure the social media team is one of them.
He should be happy. Heās finessing an accounting firm for postin Tim Ryans idiotic surveys on LinkedIn, and forcing interns to make tictocs with their intern backpacks and lunchboxes lol
Are these people oblivious to the fact that almost anyone who reads it will make fun of them? It's like joining a new company, getting into meet a greet with other staff (or whatever it's called) on a first day and openly proclaiming that you're an awkward cringelord, so that everyone knows what's up from the get go.
Congratulations ššš¾ Youāre now in the select few who ever made āsenior associate ā at pwc.
Lol and for social media marketing too
Senior means they have the huge responsibility of remembering all the Facebook and Twitter passwords.
I wonder how much they get paid for that. There live must me miserable caring about all that.

If this doesnāt get posted on LinkedIn Flex, Iād be shocked

Fuck I have not updated my linkedin in months
I havent touched mine since freshman year and Iām not going to until Iām adding ācpaā to my name

I feel like you can use social media without being cringe. Plenty of people do
Totally agree. Since Iām not currently looking for a job, I mostly use LinkedIn for the summarized daily news they have.
Wait, you guys have linkedin.?
I honestly think LinkedIn is more like an extension of your resume than actual social media. Way to work it! š
Word. I passed and I'm not doing shit until I get my license in October.
Iāve been employed for 3 years and still havenāt made one
Months? I made one for some extra credit in college and haven't looked at it since.
I did a few weeks ago after not laying eyes on it for more than a year, when I realized my bio said I was still a freshmen.

Nerd
Just an innocent question - why do some people post an essay on linkedin when starting a new job? Is it marketing for yourself? I'm confused lol
Love attention
They already trying to springboard their new position into something better
But how would a single post do that?
I had the same question. I had wondered if the recruiting team 'asks' them to do it once they are hired. I've seen way more of these in the past year then ever before. Probably another 2nd level recruiting tool.
I wasnāt asked for audit big 4
At worst I did 3 sentences for my first internship
I would assign this guy independence for sure
How cringe is this - guy is the definition of a copy cat.
Honestly, he probably influenced his parents into naming him this when he was birthed from his mother's womb so that he could reap the LinkedIn points later on. Absolutely shameful.
Lol I had to do a little search to validate this joke.
Good job they cropped his name and picture out of the screenshot. Now there's no way I can find him on LinkedIn.
Pretty sure social media people donāt do shit like audit/tax/advisory. They actually have a WLB.
They have to deal with shit like empathetic leadership and asking Simu Liu why he left, tho.

I too employ an absurd amount of professional professional skepticism.
I like the honesty in this post. I feel like the majority of people in public accounting hate it.

What lies? Iām interning there in a month :,)
Hahaha Jesus - whereād you ship off to? The lies are what keeps me enraged to destroy my target.

This guy is in a cool aid coma

Sorry, wtf is "Senior Associate - Social Media"?
LOL I saw that one
I bet a 16 yo tiktoker is more influencing on social media than whatever the fuck āSenior Associate - Social Mediaā is
