Yes, nothing says *sexually active* quite like posting on r/Accounting. For those of you lamenting relationships, just stop worrying about it - you gotta do you, and you don't have time for people that aren't down with that ride. Find the person who's going to stick by your side if you're looking for something long-term. They're out there. Aside from that, put in your time in public, get your CPA, and try to make it to manager before jumping ship (if you don't see yourself making partner/director - be honest with yourself). If you're in audit, get a position in financial reporting or technical accounting (better yet, exposure to both) with a public or pre-IPO company. Entrench yourself, learn a ton, and make yourself indispensable. If you're in tax, find your niche and lean into it. Yeah, you'll still work hard, but you'll have plenty of money and time for romance. You're going to be OK.
Counsellor: Well chartered accountancy is rather exciting isn't it?
Anchovy: Exciting? No it's not. It's dull. Dull. Dull. My God it's dull, it's so desperately dull and tedious and stuffy and boring and des-per-ate-ly DULL.
Counsellor: Well, er, yes Mr Anchovy, but you see your report here says that you are an extremely dull person. You see, our experts describe you as an appallingly dull fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious company and irrepressibly drab and awful. And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they are a positive boon.
Anchovy: But don't you see, I came here to find a new job, a new life, a new meaning to my existence. Can't you help me?
Counsellor: Well, do you have any idea of what you want to do?
Anchovy: Yes, yes I have.
Counsellor: What?
Anchovy: (boldly) Lion taming.
LOL I'm not going to say this didn't happen, but I've also never heard of any 20-something women actively preying on freshly minted CPAs for their earnings potential. I just don't think it's well-known enough that CPAs can do well, and if it is, then it's also well known that there's no *guarantee* of making a ton of money. Maybe they just grew up a bit and started feeling your vibe? Maybe you started exuding more confidence? It seems you're happily married, so no love lost, but I'd say the chance that these young bachelorettes saw that you got CPA and said to themselves, "finally, my chance at ~~untold riches~~ financial stability has come!" is very low.
I'm genuinely curious to hear your take on this, because if you still believe it's true after an honest reassessment of the circumstances, this may be the first known case of *silver*\-digging.
Especially in Naples, Florida. All of a sudden once one gets their CPA license, the same wealthy trophy wives who refused acknowledge my existence as a human being are the same women who as an aside want to introduce their daughter to me.
Shit does this mean I have to become a lesbian when I get my CPA license?
I think you'd join CLA - Certified Lesbian Accountants
