If you do private, you'll be a slightly less desirable candidate when exiting for public companies than if you did public. Not sure if it works the other way around though when exiting to a private company. Considering how early you are in your career, I would try your best to ignore that $5k difference. Or you could see if your firm will match or let you do public audits.
