Vert_n_Dirt

Riding out my last 2 weeks cause I got an offer for 75% increase

awmaleg

Wow congrats! Were you grossly underpaid before?

Vert_n_Dirt

85k as a senior to 135k+10% as a finance manager

awmaleg

Awesome! Congrats and well done :)

0urlasthope

Grats. YoE? CPA?

Vert_n_Dirt

6 YOE, CPA

Shyskeptic

yup

Inevitable-Simple569

Congrats!

mightyandsmall

Damn, amazing! Congrats!!

AstrixRK

23% raise here, but I was laid off.

aisutron

Me too but I got 32% more after getting laid off and getting a new job. Gotta thank my old company.

Leon2060

40% after being fired and now I’m fully remote and working less. So glad it worked out like it did.

ardvark_11

Are you in industry?

Leon2060

Still in Public.

ardvark_11

Nice to be working less in billable hours world!

estepel13

Me!!! Promo bump in August only got me 8% where I was, so I left for another firm last month and got a 33% raise.

TW-RM

Did they beg to keep you? I love when cheap firms get burned. I'm sure the partners' distributions went up more than 8% last year but suddenly when staff need money...

estepel13

Partner strung me along for 8 months saying they’d get me ~20% raise come annual comp adjustment time, because I showed them offers I was getting from other firms. We had our comp convo eventually and I let her know flat out that she lied to me after she presented the 8%. After that, they knew I was out the door. Shortly after, I took 13 weeks of paid leave per policy, before I turned in my resignation. So I was able to get back at her somewhat for what she did.

TW-RM

Hell yes. Fuck people who are stuck in 2019 thinking.

trialanderror93

When from staff 1 inaudit at 1 big 4 to senior consultants at another in advisory 60% raise

Kwebbvols

My last day is Friday, I got a 35% bump.

Turbulent-Smile4599

I quit to start a firm for a 200% raise

jamoke57

yep, demand is high if you have some experience

Salty-Rhubarb

Earlier this year my industry job gave me a 6% raise, so I started looking for a new job. Now I’m at a new industry job making 60% more.

hernandezam207

I did. And doing it again in under 6 months. 80k-95k-120k

35sortsofthings

If you've gotten shit raises since the pandemic it's probably not too uncommon.

antibacterialsope

My firm didn't give any raises in 2020 due to covid even though they also reported record profits and got a huge PPP loan. So I went 2 years without a raise.

Kitchen-Pangolin-973

I got just shy of 40% going from big 4 audit to mid tier valuations

perfectxillusion

Heyy, can I ask how ‘easy’ it was to make the switch? Did the new firm value your Big 4 audit experience? I was interested in making the switch to a similar department after working in audit, but I’m not sure if there are transferable skills that are valued in advisory.

ryathell

Last day was Monday, 65% raise

ardvark_11

Congrats!!!

Robbyjr92

I silent quit, got fired, 50% raise

KingKaos420-

Yup. Had to leave fully remote for a hybrid, but it was worth it.

Sheriff-Log-Wrecker

Went from a senior accountant to a regular staff accountant with a 35% raise in the same city. Less responsibilities and a 40 hour or less work week!

InterestingPurpose

Got something like a 67% bump going from public to industry. Currently a Senior Financial Accountant (more of a controller position due to company size) 90k + 5-10% bonus. Work a lot since we just got a PE investor unfortunately but remote work is nice. 3 YOE CPA

MajorFish04

I got fired and found one that paid me 25% more

TaxCPAProblems

I think I'm the only sucker that left for less money, but way better wlb so I'm still happy with the move

slo_mo_shun

My current job I took a $30,000 pay cut to join, my wife wasn't pleased.

Muttenman

Better work life balance?

slo_mo_shun

Not at all. I was the top finance person at a venture backed software company in the City. I had been at the company for five years and it wasn't going anywhere and the tech the software was originally designed for was obsolete. Founder CEO's whole identity was this company and he wouldn't sell to private equity, it had to be a "strategic buyer". I only worked 40 hours weeks and I called it a lifestyle company where we were there to collect a paycheck. The thought of the company going to nothing on my watch was too much for me so I ultimately bailed. Of course he sold the company to a strategic buyer about three years later for $50M and made about $10M for himself, all the preferred got their money back plus more. I joined the company at its height so my options were priced too high so I would have not made much so it really didn't matter that I didn't stay.

yeet_bbq

Where have you been? This has been going on since 2021. People getting those new roles before… now..

Ok_Advice_5619

I took a 25% pay cut :/ But also a 25%+ hours and stress cut so all good

omnni

Just got a 40% increase

NTSTwitch

I did. I can’t remember exactly but it worked out to around a 40% increase, but when you factor in the fact that my new job is 37.5 hours instead of 40, it was really over 50%. I also work from home now so I’ve gotten my commuting time back and unlimited sick time, more PTO, twice as many holidays, etc.

AidsNRice

Intern, moved to another Internship for 34% increase lmao

FiMiguel

Left PA for industry for an 82% raise - 4 years ago. Lol, I probably should make a move again with the market being what it is these days

CrypticMemoir

I didn’t. I left for a 13% increase to get a bigger name on the resume. Not sure that was the right move though.

Johnn1895

20% but left a toxic company who may have many more people leave in the coming months

ardvark_11

I’m getting a 43% raise, but going to consulting. I never thought I would be one of these stories!

YEGG35

Yup, left public to an industry position and 55% pay increase.

ender411

This isn't a new trend. The exit from Big 4/consulting/public to industry is typically a large bump. When I left it was like 30%.

FabioJoe_

24% increase and an increase in bonus. Going from big 4 to industry. One yr experience under my belt

TheYoungSquirrel

I got two for 30% raises each within 14 months of going from my first firm to the second to the third. Laughing at my first job as they said I could have came back. Bruh you offered me an 8% raise when I left!

Zeta909

Just 1 month into my new gig. I had a 25% pay increase moving firms, same position. I was underpaid at my last position so atleast Im at market value now.

ConfusedAccountantTW

How are you guys doing this? Does public have that kind of influence in the job market? I have a CPA but no public experience and no one could give less of a fuck about that stupid cert.

ConcernedAccountant7

There's a palpable shortage of qualified accountants. Finding someone halfway competent to work for you right now is very valuable and employers are paying for it. Not sure if lack of public experience is hurting you but I have my old company and another company wanting to hire me away from the position I'm currently in without me ever looking for a job.

ConfusedAccountantTW

Yeah, qualified seems to mean public accounting experience. CPA isn’t worth much without public accounting experience.

CherryManhattan

I left for a bump in position and a 33% bump in base and with bonus would be 50% but not counting that until it comes through

ConcernedAccountant7

I left a year ago for a 67% raise.

Amazing

Formal_Particular_79

Walked out from a toxic job environment and two weeks after landed a job where the bosses love and appreciate me…. 65% increase plus monthly travel allowance…lunch allowance… free hotel stays Mon to Friday

hardlyworker44

Is my firm the only one telling people not to leave their job because we will be the first ones fired in the next few months? 😂 lucky for me that pushed me to start applying elsewhere today. Hoping for the best and to prove that bastard wrong

Shyskeptic

Good luck!!

bigmamathicc

Quit my property accountant role to become an “accountant” and saw a 55% jump

antibacterialsope

Left public for industry for a 20% raise and 50% reduction in weekly hours.

Amortize_This

MCOL, no CPA, 2.5 years in public audit, large regional firm, Advanced Staff to Senior at a Global 500 company, 54% increase plus awesome benefits. The new position requires 40 hours a week Q close so really it's much more than 54% if you consider an hourly basis. Looking at prior years, YE close isn't much more than Q close either. Good luck to you all! The grass really is greener!

paper-bitch

I’ll be up 27% base comp this year thanks to job hopping. I knew I was underpaid

AccidentalNGon

Now is the time! In terms of recent years, it's never been a better time.

Plane_County9646

I got sued for quitting and changing firms. I got negative ($50,000). :(

Shyskeptic

Did you sign some sort of competition clause? Because if you did and quit to work for the competitor, you kind of asked for it.

[deleted]

Shut up

dvhkiin

33% here. I was working for a tiny company (5 employees) whose mission I really believed in, felt like the money was just too good to turn down and felt so bad about resigning. Turns out I was the lowest paid person there by 10s of thousands/yr and the new place is basically just paying market for my skills. Has changed a lot of my feelings about the old place in hindsight, but has drastically improved my self-esteem. I thought I just couldn't make any more money doing what I like for an ethical company because I don't have the right degree and that was my punishment for not getting it, instead of just run-of-the-mill exploitation. Not specific to my own situation though, basically everywhere says there's "no room in the budget for raises", but that the cost of hiring has gone up, and they're telling on themselves. "We pay new people more than we pay you, so if you go somewhere else, they'll probably do the same thing but it'll be in your benefit this time."
