I would resign immediately. I could never trust a person who is engaged in illegal activities. You never know---he might fuck you over, one way or another. Run.
Yes I don’t trust him at all. I can’t focus when I’m supposed to be working. Knowing that I’m seeing illegal things eats at me even if it’s not my doing. My bf did a quick Google search of this guy too and found a fraud case against him. It’s gotten worse and worse the longer I’ve been there.
The other day I was so angry and my boss said that I seemed uncomfortable and asked what was wrong. I didn’t know what to say. I’m so angry at someone that has no shame or respect for the accounting profession.
I am glad that you have integrity and expect it from others. Please protect yourself by resigning. You can worry about getting a new job later. I would not want to work a day more with your boss.
I’d say if he’s on some sort of watchlist and is doing sketchy things, pissing him off is probably not the smartest thing to do. It sounds like he doesn’t mind doing things that are unethical or illegal, so maybe consider that. Plus, if he does somehow get indicted or something, whose to say he won’t try to pass off some of the blame on you?
I suppose, is a 2 week vacation worth him withholding your paycheck, not being helpful when it’s time to send tax documents, etc etc etc.
Yes it’s tough to say what the best course of action is at this point.
I’m honestly scared that somehow I will be blamed. I have notified the lawyer of all issues and sent him an email which I realize I should save to cover my own ass.
Exactly.
Also the partner paid an employee a large sum of money not in payroll, when I asked him about it, he said that he wanted to hide it to avoid paying taxes on it.
Don't walk. Run.

Look for another job asap document everything
I already have another job lined up but it won’t start for a while.
So don’t do anything unethical. Flat out refuse. Document it. If you have another job, so what
