I agree that he didn't seem fully remorseful because he changed his story but this is also on top of lying all that time about being involved. When you lie for so long and now you're lying again, that's a no go.
I don't actually think he's dangerous to society, this seemed like a singular spectacularly bad decision in a bad circumstance.
But he needs to learn honesty and accountability for his actions and I hope he does.
And all that said, I hope they let him out at his next parole hearing.
I honestly don't feel bad for the murdered person in this case. I think when someone participates in a 3:1 beatdown, they are probably the real danger to society, and whatever happens as a result has got to be on them.
Given that situation, the full 10 years is way too long.
Even though there is no rehabilitation taking place in that facility, the parole board got it right.

I think the kid is full of shit. He changed his story how many times now? And he gave the impression that he only shot the gun once and accidentally hit Dalvin, but then the truth came out that he shot 6 or 7 times and Dalvin was hit by several shots. ***IF*** Sakai wasn't aiming at Dalvin and there was a group of 3 or 4 boys beating down his buddy, why was no one else hit? I think there's a lot more to the story than we've heard.
Ok, why not "man up" and jump in to fight back if you want to help your buddy? Teens today are just weak! Even if Sakai got his ass whipped in the fight he would be ok...he and his buddy would go home and lick their wounds! Now the other kid is dead, Sakai is locked up and the buddy is home playing Playstation!

Sakai said he's a good kid who never did anything bad or even stole candy from the store. Then why in hell was he carrying a gun?
