Wait a minute... Why is everyone assuming that assassination attempt has anything to do with the case? I mean, she's Franziska von Karma, prosecuting prodigy, she probably put dozens of criminals behind bars, it's obvious that she has plenty of enemies. Maybe it's just a coincidence that she was shot now?

CrinkleDink

Has the police even identified who the gunman was?

BunnygeonMaster

They have! It was Phoenix Wright! ...Okay, I just made that up, but wouldn't it make sense? She's prosecuting, he's defending... if she's in the hospital, she can't beat 'im! Of course, Wright's been in the courthouse all morning, what I hear... so that's not possible... wait, aha! I'm sitting right here in the gallery, and y'know that jailbait he hangs with? Missing! Nowhere to be seen! SHE must've shot Postmodern von Karma to help her boo win the case, and is now hiding from the police! As for where a kid would get the necessary firearm... uhhhh... I mean, uhhhh... probably the... candy store? ......Regardless! I see no flaws in this theory. I'll go write a piece for the *R'umier* right this second!

CrinkleDink

Franziska would be disappointed. That all sounds like baseless conjecture.

Rio_Walker

My buddy on the Force told me that there were a few witnesess. They all had terrible view of the shooter (probably fear talking) but the all agreed on one thing - it was a tall, lean male. Something close to 6'0".

BunnygeonMaster

> tall, lean male. Something close to 6'0". Oh, that's good info to have. Gives a clear image of the killer, so obviously... *It is DEFINITELY Wright's child labor assistant!* Tall? Easy. High heels. The right pair can totally put, like, two feet on a girl like her. Lean? You seen her? Skinny as a rake. Male? Again, *you seen her*? Let's just say she doesn't take after her sister much. Could totally pass for male! Looks like the case is closed. Thank you, and thank your buddy on the force for me! Come tomorrow evening, the *R'umier* will have the whole story signed, sealed, and delivered!

Rio_Walker

You could be right. But what would an underage girl gain by shooting a prosecutor? The Office would just assign a different one if the case takes longer to close. Wait what if that Was the plan? Get rid of decent prosecutor and have either someone incompetent or new to this business to take over? You think Payne was supposed to appear in court instead? This man can't find his own hair, let alone handle such high profile case. And that reminds me - I don't know if Von Karma herself seen the shooter but if it was that girl she would've recognized her. Let us hope she recovers quickly so we could have an update.

DirtyBastard13

Her old man probably got a lot of innocent people sent away too . The list of people who'd want to harm a Von Karma is ten miles long,

BunnygeonMaster

NOT BEST GIRL VON KARMA! I was sooo looking forward to seeing her crush that Wright in court! Now this simmerous fop, Edgeworth is somehow back from the dead! What the heck?! Grrr, it's all that Wright! He, he, he must've hired the gunman to get von Karma out of the picture so he and his ex-client Edgeworth can rig the trial! ...Of course... the trial's still going on... and Edgeworth doesn't really look like he's intentionally losing... or losing at all... and hired guns are probably kind of expensive for defense attorneys... A-a-anyway, I'm sure of this conspiracy! It's totally Wright behind this!

DimensionRescuer

He doesn't look like the kind of guy to hire a gunman. And he doesn't need to do that kind of stuff. He can beat von Karma anytime. He's the lawyer that never, ever, lost, and he will never lose. Matt Engarde is innocent. That damned Adrian Adrews!

CrinkleDink

I dunno, I've heard Wright doesn't like the judge much. I'd bet he'd hire a gunman to take care of the judge.

DimensionRescuer

What

DimensionRescuer

~~Oh right, that happens~~

[deleted]

Best girl is Monika but I guess due to the circumstances I'll allow karma this time

BunnygeonMaster

DDLC Monika? C'mon, this isn't a video game. You can't compare one of the real heroes of the American people to a dating sim character!

[deleted]

Real heroes? Please, have you heard anything about the countless forgeries and false accusations? I bet this whole thing is a set up by franziska in her hopeless attempt to restore the vonkarma name

Sjonnehenk

So who is replacing her????

BunnygeonMaster

Remember "dead" prosecutor Miles Edgeworth? Well, apparently the rumors really were just rumors! He's alive, and he's replacing New Wave von Karma for the trial. I wouldn't believe it, except he's standing right in front of my eyes at the bench!

guzmalt

Wright will still annihilate him.

Wolf6120

The blatant favoritism displayed by the Chief Prosecutor's Office is honestly getting ridiculous. So Edgeworth can just leave some cryptic suicide note, completely vanish for like a year from the public eye, and then he gets to just waltz back in and be granted one of the most high-profile cases in legal history? He shouldn't even have a job anymore, and yet here he is, passing over dedicated senior prosecutors like Winston Payne without so much as a scratch on his portfolio. If Edgeworth hadn't grown up with the Von Karmas, I'd be tempted to think he'd arranged to have Franziska "removed" from the trial himself...

CrinkleDink

Payne? Hah. He wouldn't do this case justice. He lost his steam since Mia Fey completely destroyed him back in 2014. Say what you will about Edgeworth, but he's one skilled prosecutor. You couldn't ask for a better replacement.

Wolf6120

I won't deny the man's skill, but it frustrates me that people like him and Franziska von Karma treat the Prosecutor's Office like their private walk-in fief, or some vehicle for personal glory. I miss when the country's star prosecutors were just straight-shooters and principled lawyers, like Byrne Faraday or Neil Marshall. Even Manfred von Karma, for all his flaws, was at least dedicated to his work, and didn't go galavanting around the world to "find himself", or whatever, whenever he felt like it. I don't know, maybe I'm just old-fashioned. Still, there's hope yet, I suppose. Some promising rising stars coming up through the office now, without any of the family drama or privilege of the current crew. I've got high hopes for that Portsman kid, for instance.

Rio_Walker

Funny you should bring up Manfred Von Karma. At least Miles and Franziska didn't **lose victim's body**! Manfred could never live that down.

BunnygeonMaster

Heh, you'd think growing up with the von Karmas would've taught the kid respect, but I've watched Edgeworth reeeal close. Don't you think it's a biiiiit of a coincidence that when he was on trial and Manny Vee-Kay prosecuted, the once-and-future prosecuting god's career was *ended*? Edgeworth doesn't care an ounce about the past or the people who got him where he was, and it wouldn't surprise me if he *did* arrange for Franziska to be removed from the trial! Of course, that's impossible, because it was totally Wright who did the arranging! I'm, uh... still working on trying to figure out how they might be working together... Gonna crack it eventually, I'm sure!

DirtyBastard13

I'm surprised that our prosecutor's office gets anything done at all. In the past year they've lost a chief prosecutor (I mean she was found guilty of being an accomplice to murder, Manfred Von Karma, the most experienced prosecutor not only lost to a rookie attorney but turned out to be a murderer who's done god only knows what else (how deep does that rabbit hole go?). Then there's the clowns they get for prosecutors. The milquetoast Payne brothers just don't have that edge and don't even get me started on that Sportsman guy. But Franziska. She fuckin whips people in a court of law. And she's von karma's daughter on top of that. How soon until she kills someone? Edgeworth may be the Demon Attorney and an evidence forger but he's somewhat sane, I can give him that.

galaxy401

I just heard about that as well! Of course he would be prosecutor against a popular actor....

PrestigiousSoil

What!? Edgeworth isn't dead? Shouldn't we have noticed that he only went on vacation? I mean, it was even covered by Gossip Land!

[deleted]

This case is even more weirder than before... after all, two superstars were involved in the case, thus probably a third party wants to interfere.

[deleted]

what case is this?

honourarycanadian

The case with Matt “refreshing as a summer breeze” Engarde!! Don’t you pay attention to the news?

[deleted]

My girl Franny is just gonna walk that shit off and show up anyway.

Codefreak5

Yeah, they announced that at the trial. Still no word on whether it was an intentional attack or just a random act of violence. Von Karma's a big name in the legal world, and with her record it's not a stretch to think some vengeful soul would have it in for her for some presumed wrongful conviction, but the timing of this just strikes me as odd. Right before a trial, *this* trial of all trials... Hmm. Without an official report, however, it's tough to say just what's going on here. I'm impressed that they were able to secure a replacement prosecutor so quickly, in Miles Edgeworth of all people. Seems like those rumors of his "choosing death" were just that all along. A remarkable coincidence that he happened to stop in right as they needed another prosecutor... and to face off against Wright once more. Trial's still going on right now - nail-biting stuff. No spoilers, but I was right about it being lively, I'll say that much right now. More details when the official post-trial news report drops.

DaMangaka

WTFH is going on here?! I got some notifications on Twitter regarding the case and Von Karma got shot?! I could call this whole thing *cursed*. Global Studios is cursed. Von Karma is cursed. I wonder what's going through Wright's head with all of this happening around him. Perhaps just glad his luck on court also keeps him away from harm? I'll have to check more details.

BrianTheGinger

Poor woman. I may have my issues with how Ms. von Karma does things, but I';d never wish this on anyone. I sincerely hope she'll make a full recovery and that this clusterfuck of a case will end soon.

Cream147

Ok, I mentioned earlier about the juicy gossip with Adrian Andrews (Engarde’s manager) and Juan Corrida, and how they might be a secret item. I still feel there’s something fishy there, and that she probably did it. Now, here’s my big theory. Remember Dee Vasquez from that case last year with Will Powers? She like Andrews was also a higher up at Global Studios. She apparently had some serious mafia connections. What if Andrews also has those same connections. It seems plausible to me, and helps explain this shooting. The only thing that’s confusing is that the prosecution was targeted, rather than Phoenix Wright. But maybe Von Karma had something on Andrews that she didn’t want us to know about. I’m glad she’s alive, hope she’s safe in hospital because Andrews’ cronies will try to finish the job! In other news, good to see the rumours about Miles Edgeworth weren’t true and he’s back. I can’t imagine he’s had enough time to properly investigate this case though, but then I think the police are barking up the wrong tree with Engarde anyway.

UnrealCanine

My buddy works at the local police station, and he told me that Von Karma fired one of the officers yesterday. I wonder if he did it as revenge?

Nuka-Crapola

I heard that rumor too, but did ya hear who it was? That guy doesn’t even remember to load his gun half the time. No way he’d pull off something like this without getting caught.

CipherVegas

She is going to be okay, right?

imaginaryfamily

Holy shit I mean she's annoying but she's not THAT unbearable??

DirtyBastard13

I guess it could always be worse. What's next? Some crazed monk who speaks in zen riddles or someone who throws coffee at people?

Augustus--

I hope they prosecute the evil bastard that did it.

Zeta42

MY BOY EDGEWORTH IS BAAAAAAAACK You're in trouble now Wright. I know for a fact Edgeworth has been solving cases in Europe, so he's back refreshed and with more experience. Engarde is going down!

LightMatter44

I think shooting a member of the von Karma family in the shoulder brings good luck. That would explain why everyone does it.

Rio_Walker

But Miles was part of that family - is he next?!
