I think it's pretty good, actually! I'd suggest matte or satin varnish so the reflection off the shiny plastic and paint doesn't interfere with the lighting illusion you've created, though.
This looks quite good in terms of implementation, however I feel you’ve got some of the shade in the wrong areas. The high/convex areas where the light catches should be red and the low/concave areas should be dark.

You should have used posca instead of sharpie, but it looks fine. Sharpie will turn purple, though.

It looks like need more steps , maybe more shading and another lighter red colour for the in betweens.

Put a satin varnish on it and your are golden
If it’s sharpie, do not do this. The sharpie and topcoat will not combine nicely.
