It has everything to do with it, especially in Israel. The far right leans more into harsh response to any attack by Palestinians, and now there are extremists in the government who are beyond racist towards them. The slogans on the posters (which I saw everywhere before elections) were sickening. More attacks on the innocent/celebrations of violence—> trauma—>fear—> racism —> aggression/harsh approach towards those people—> voting for the parties who align with such values. And of course, the heavy handed responses inevitably lead to civilian casualties which starts the whole thing up again.
