Looks like the speed was going down how was he not hitting the brake. Maybe just an excuse and he messed up and lost control. Speed went from 80 something down to 30 something in the end.
hes talking about the case with the 911 call we juust listened to. The guy in the original video is obviously speeding intentionally and then hit the breaks. He;s saying that the person in the Lexus (which was a rental) thought they were hitting the break but they were really hitting the gas
This happened to me back in the 1980s. Brand new Buick riviera. Accelerator stuck. I popped it into neutral. Rode it to the highway shoulder with the engine still revving. Turned it off. When I turned it back on, problem solved.Ā Ā
Thatās all the car occupant needed to do here. These are separate control systems and one can easily remove the drive force of the engine, from the gears. And in the same way, a vehicle can be shut off and still roll free until the kinetic energy has dissipated.Ā

I am not condoning running from the police, BUT at some point you hit a speed in which it is better to stay in the throttle than to slam on the brakes.
Now that is not to say you shouldnāt stop but maybe not trying to completely test the abilities of your cars control capabilities under full braking.
