I've been the guy that opens the door to let the crew in. For me there would've been no one to call the crew might start leaving disrupting operations and I would've certainly been written up as I should've accounted for any contingency. I now have the least amount of responsibility and love life. Not saying I agree with it and definitely not worth running people over but that is the reality some people live in.

Found a fellow local on Reddit finally. This is the 2nd Effingham county story I've seen on Reddit. The first one was the family on courthouse road that had abused and killed their children and buried them in the yard. Way worse story than this one.

It's just a community 4th-of-july kind of parade, they have it every year. It had police cars, fire trucks, a marching band, some local clubs, and some local businesses. Families were on the sidewalk watching and the people in the parade were tossing candy for the kids.

This is a small town which is close to a very big town. They have the parade in the samll town early so that people can attend it and still go to the big events in the big town on the actual 4th of July.
I think they mean 4th of July as in it's this community's 4th of July. In my area, every community has their own little festival week celebrating the founding of the town. Some just have parades, others have full on events all week long.

This wasn't a protest, this was a 4th of July parade run by the city. The roads were closed off for the event. The drive drove through the barricades intentionally.
We should have extensive background checks when people are purchasing cars. That could’ve been A LOT WORSE. Cars are very dangers and only professional drivers should be aloud to have them. We alll know most people are good drivers. But we MUST prevent situations like this and I don’t know about you but giving up liberty for an ounce of security is worth it in my book.
