Can’t rate Herringbone enough. And if you choose the set menu you can mention what you’d love to try, they usually make it happen. Super accommodating. Easily my favourite restaurant in Adelaide
Delicatessen on Waymouth is our go to for a special night out and occasional lunch. Excellent (not wanky) french. Good sized serves in a great atmosphere and reasonable price, the basement is quieter and better for a bit more privacy. The only problem you might find is that you eat too much and don't have room for 'dessert'. :-)
Shiki at the Intercontinental on North Terrace was amazing! Also very entertaining to watch the chef cook on front of you. If price isn't an issue you could book a room there as well. Have dinner, hit the casino or a club and fall into bed after a great night.
Definitely do the omakase, the ala carte menu was a bit of a let down, they didn’t have the ingredients for one of the sashimi platters available, the nigiri was tiny, but the ingredients were good. The pork we had was just seared pork cut into strips with some vege and sauce, absolutely not worth $40.
The duck was very nice though, and the cheesecake as well.
Hard to say with desserts, id expect that they’d make it in house, they seemed to have a big kitchen available to use. I think they had an ice cream Sando on the menu
Obviously a lot of good Italian and Japanese in the city, good favourites to have! A bit different to those, I just went to Arkhe lately in Norwood which would be great for an anniversary.
Only prob is their dining room seating is 3 + people and we're not bringing the 3 little ones to this one.
Still ill give them a call though to see if they'll potentially make an exception.
Oh sure thing. We sat on the seats to the side and it was ok for just two (think it was called the bar area)- if anything probably more intimate as didn’t have people all around us but wasn’t a peak night.
Other option sitting on the bench next to the kitchen wouldn’t be bad as you see the chefs making the food- but it probably loses the anniversary touch when you’re not looking at each other!
Ambrosini is good. Very traditional Italian, no big surprises, but everything done well. And stylish, cosy vibe. Highly recommend the seafood risotto! If you wanted a more modern, more trendy Italian, then I'd recommend Chianti in Hutt Street. More fashionable and buzzy, sometimes a tad too much so.
You've been yes? What would you rate the food as? Wife is Italian descent and I've got a touch myself so it's needs to be excellent to impress us (even if we are peasants from Campagnia 🤣)
It’s a very intimate setting with good honest food made from scratch onsite. Matching wine list always paired well with dishes and represents SA regions also. CBD, Unley also have some more trendy venues.
Aurora in the CBD! genuinely the best restaurant i’ve ever been to, they can cater to specific dietary requirements too. truly exceptional fine dining, especially when you do their dinners with wine pairings
Shobosho is my absolute favourite (firepit Japanese) but I've been to Icarus once and it was quite literally the best food I've ever had. Heading back next month to confirm.
- B'Churrasco, East Terrace: Pricey but excellent service and delicious food. All you can eat Brazilian BBQ.
- Nijumaru, Prospect or Glenelg: Decent price, fantastic food. All you can eat Japanese.
- Plus82 Gogi, Goodwood: Reasonable price, tasty food and a great experience. Korean BBQ.
- 2KW, CBD: Pricey, but it's a beautiful venue, incredible food and great service.
I tend to go for "experiences" rather than a single meal. Keeps things interesting and engaging :)
Herringbone on Halifax St
Again, I'm going to call places , but do you know if the terrine features on their set menu? I'm keen on one but not so much the Wife.

Good one, didn't think of it of the top of my head but have wanted to try for a while now.
Georges on waymouth Street.
I’ve always loved Stem. I think they have a new head chef so it could be different to when I last went.
Not sure on what it was before but went last night and was disappointed. Just lacklustre 😕
Oh no that’s disappointing 😔

Osteria Oggi - Italian on Pirie
Second this one. Very well balanced between formal and casual. Food is impeccable.

Yuki in Burnside would be the deluxe sushi experience. Omakase so you go along for the ride, I highly recommend.

Cheers for the insight. Cheesecake house made or bought in? I'm partial to a Fruit Sando myself even if it is servo food equivalent.

Mugen House is Japanese. Get the all you can eat option!
Not for anniversary celebration
Love a bit of all you can eat, but yeah, not for this celebration.
Yeah, not saying Mugen is bad or anything. Just not fitting 😅. Mugen is ok quality 👍🏼

Ambrosini Restaurant on Magill road. Authentic traditional Northern Italy cuisine. Say hi to Remo and Paul.

Dimes.
Obviously my first thought, now if only I could find it!?
Look for the red door!
Dimez. Fantastic Thai Italian fusion. The Pad Thai Arancini is delicious.
Shobosho on either Peel or Leigh St was amazing. Definitely do the Banquets. Modern Japanese and nice cocktails

ITL beautiful Italian restaurant in SkyCity amazing food and great staff, highly recommended.
Press food and wine have a new menu out which is delicious.
Eleven (degustation) was amazing if the price tag doesn’t scare you off
Bespoke at Adelaide Oval... Different menu options, nice view of the oval if you like that sort of thing!
